Kats I love it!! My car is also a blue on blue series one, but dated as a 1971, check out my blue interior on my gallery page. Did you try to match the original color? It looks somewhat lighter than mine..

Z car Insurance Deal
Marty, FYI Haggerty did not offer anyu deductable on their collector car policy, but given that iwas so cheacp, 100 bucks a year, that wasnt an issue. Also, regarding a previous post on this thread about haggerty only covering you on the way to a show or club event, that is not correct. I specified I would using my car for pleasure driving on weekends only, less than 3500 miles per year, and I told them it would not be used for clubs or shows. They had no problem with that. They did tell me they wee one of the few collector car insurers who cover your car if it is unattended, suich as if you stop at a store and leave the car in the parking lot. They said they WOULD cover you in thaty event, unlike other companies.

Z car Insurance Deal
Hey guys I just signed up my 240 Z for coverage with hagerty three weeks ago. Part of my p;an to purchase the car hinged on finding cheap insurance, and when i found hagerty (through other Z car owenrs on the zcar.com website,)I made the move to buy my car. I have it set up to drive the car less than 3500 miles a yearand keep it in a locked garage. My 280 ZX is my daily driver, and the Z comes out on the wekends. Sure makes a delightful treat at the end of the week!

original color under hood
I was wondering about the head too, I wasn't sure if it had been changed or not ,given that it is a very high serial number for a series one, I thought perhaps they had switched to the E-88 head just about this time (1-71), and used the valve cover they still had in the assembly line.

72 bumpers on ebay
besides the lack of over-riders, would these bumpers fit an early 71 (series 1) car? Do they stick out further? They look about the same in the pics...

240Z Nissan restored on e-bay
Both Z car magazine and a road and track article said the odometers would be left at the mileage they were at before the restoration, and not rolled back.

How to insure?
Anyone have any tips on how to insure mutiple Z car ownership? I have a clean driving record and insure my 79 280zx for 9 month out of the year. I park it in the garage December through march and just leave the comprehensive on it. Im looking at buying a 71 z that is definitely restorable, mostly needs paint and a bit of body tweeking, like the rear bumper straightened. Looks like minimal rust around the rocker panels, but not bad. I wondered about using this z only on weeknds while I saved up for a good paint job. i talked to a collector car insurance place who said they mostly insure cars that are "show quality" but would CONSIDER covering the 71. They said they might cover it for a small amount like 3000 dollars with the plan that if i did future biody and paint work they could increase the coverage. The premium would only be 70 bucks a year, if i garage it and drive less than 2500 miles per year. That I can do, but again they said they'd consider it based on photos i send of the car, which is very original. I asked about maybe setting up the ZX that way instead since it is in excellant condition, and they said maybe, again depending on how they read any photos i send. My other option is to insure both cars with regular insurance and put them back in the garage earlier in the fall and pull em out later in the spring. OK what do all you folks with multiple cars do for insurance to try to save some money??

Barrett-Jackson 240z
I agree it's nice to see Z's taken seriously at the auctions. On the other hand, have you ever watched the barret jackson on tv? I cant belive what some people are willing to pay for some machines. I find that to be the most upsetting part of the "collectoer car" market. i think alot of fake bidding goes on by proxy bidders so the suckers end up paying out huge amounts for totally stupid vehicles.Example, how about a 62 Cadillac, orignal condition but not super low miles for 60 thousand dollars? We may regret the day or inexpensive Z's are pushing such astronomical levels, in terms of insuring them or repairing them. Our cars should be valued what they're worth, but collectors make the market, and often ruin it for real people. Electric guitars are going through the same thing. Japanese collectors are shipping 1960 Fender sratocasters back to japan. The guitars are bringining in tens of thousands of dollars, but are not being played, just collected by investors. It sucks.

big trucks suck a$$
Man that sucks about your Z! Hey I'm in Washington too, Spokane. I have had two hit and run incidents wih my cherry 280zx here. Both times I was lucky enough to have fifty dollar deductable on my collision insurance, which covered it. Hope you have something like that! Also your insurance company will likley offer you support in tacking down the suspect. I would provide them any info your friend has on the description of their dumass redneck truck. Oops, sorry, I had to say that. BTW, I had another expereince when a guy in anf-350 truck backed nto the front of my Z when were were at a stoplight. I was laying on the horn but he didt hear me and hit my bumpr at about three miles an hour,it was huge impact. i ran to the front of my car, but that 280zx bumper absorbed the whole impact, you couldnt even tell it happened! So I guess that's one good point the ZX has the old Z's didnt!
