Hello all , I just picked up a second addition to our home a very nice 71 240z from one of our members :) , the prob is the brake pedal is very hard when pressure is applied just like when the brake booster has gone bad but it doesn't raise the idle like one of my past z 's did when the booster went bad. Could it still be the booster or maybe the checkvalve? Any suggestions would be great , thank you

  2. Sorry about that savannah with the dizzy stuff , the resistor is exactly as you described you can check that with a electric current reader to see if its working correctly , I think you may want to just recheck connections at the fuel pump , I know my brothers 74 has an electric fp and the sound varries with the car not running but ignition on. Alot of the spec and info on double checking timing and gap of the points are in many shop manuals , a very good investment, also might be a cold case of beer for Will if you can get him over to help you out as well :) , check the wires around the distributor there will be i think 2 and also a resistor on the side as well as in the distributor if the connections get corroded or loose it can case problems like this , good luck

  3. I assume you ment the tach was jumping around , i doubt it is the alternator, first check the basics < timing , points and rotor if you are running standard ignition> i would then check coil and the ballast , if you feel confident also check the dizzy for excessive play , another possiblity is a loose ground or wire , but if was betting i would stay with the ignition having something bad or loose , a bit more inof on the car as in year mods stock engine and such might help as well, Jeff

  4. also remove the bulb as well and clean the connections at the bulb and rear harness , also test the circuit to see if you are getting any juice when the brakes are applied to that bulb socket first then work your way back

  5. HMM my two cents are double check your ground wire as well as your positive connection on the starter< both must be very clean >, if you haven't already while the battery is disconnected remove the fuse box clean the back and all termals and spray with a sealer , I had very simliar problems and solved them by replacing my fuse box. If the battery isn't run down < would hurt to charge it a bit > check to be sure the starter is engaging , but if the battery is good and the starter is good other than connections not being clean either it should turn over or not when the key is turned , good luck

  6. i believe if you search the posts there was one recently about putting h-4 lamps which are an exact fit but they also did some wiring upgrades and had really great results

  7. If you were just switching motors i would say a week or 3 days maybe even with the tank , but what i think will take the most time of the wiring and the dash , just little parts and bolts that break and need to be replaced as mentioned before , I would take lots of pictures and document it all , its amazing how much things look diffrent when off the car, I think alot of it as well is how anal you are about how nice the finish product is , I took two weeks just on carbs and intake , getting parts and polishing , and also like mentioned above it depends on how much free time you have and if you are married or if you have limited space to do the job , good luck

  8. :tapemouth reconsidering living in fla right now as i listen to the feeble roar of the generator and the slow connection of dial up intenet connection, all is well here just lots of rain and a few more trees down , but any suggestions for a new place to live LOL, and to think Ivan is also on his way , jeeze somebody stop doing the rain dances please :rambo: take care all in florida

  9. Its sad but ironic in fla , its against the law to operate a vehicle without a seatbelt or a bike<pedal driven> for someone under the I think of 12-or 13 but yet no helmet law for motorcycles, the woman who pushed < big polictical supporter> the bill to be passed that allowed people to ride without helmets was killed in a crash last year at bike week , go figure , but we also talking a state where you can get a dui on a bike <pedal > as well as a riding lawn mover :tapemouth

  10. hhm starting to wonder what florida did , Jeeze another one , gonna send the wife out of state and pray that this one is not as strong as they say otherwise I might regret staying , me and my brother are gonna ride out this one together with a motorsport catatlog and a bottle of bacardi , figure why not , everyone in florida be well and safe and GA watch out
