auto to 4 speed
The swap from auto to manual is pretty involved. First I would suggest using a 5 speed. I did the swap using this thread by Arne and as you can see the transmission is just part of the swap. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21274

parts needed for auto to manual trany swap
Arne's write up that sblake01 linked to was the best I could find searching the web. It helped my swap go much easier.

Datsun racing, vintage footage?
Good find. Here is a video I shot of a street autocross from the 80's with some shots of national champ Andy Craig in his Z. Also the kick butt 510 of Randy Welch is in there too. Not quite Paul Newman but they are some of my heroes.

Finally got to drive the "Barn Find"
Such a beauty and congratulations getting it on the road! What surprises me on a drive is how enthusiastic teenagers are towards our cars.

Sorry if re-post. Wicked 74 Z. RB Mikuni's
- Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
Sparegolfer - google CP 48 Frank Leary for more pics and info.- Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
Sorta vintage - me at an autocross with my brother in the 90s before the flares. Those are 15x8 Wheel Specialties 7 spoke wheels like on the 27 CP car of vintagezracer. At least I think that was the company name. They are 2 piece glued together with "space glue" is how it was explained to me. The centers are thick and require long studs.- ground control spring adjusters
Would your tire rubbing be solved by bending up the fender lips? I had 245s from the previous owner and the stock spring perch was cutting the inside sidewall.- 10-23-10: Stance of the Union (Sacramento, CA)
Great pics as usual. If I knew Jay was going to be there with his Z I would have come by to check it out. I like the car show in a parking structure idea.- 7.1 Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand
Not even close. I've never heard of anything like this!- Manual to automatic transmission swap
I have the radiator, larger brake pedal and starter motor (which is different than the standard) left over that you can have. You missed a complete swap package by a year though. I sold everything else to that guy in So Cal that was putting the automatics in Chinese trucks.- The September Sacramento Z Car Reunion
Bill will be there and is making me attend. Steve Mill is coming down from Loomis and Gary, a mustang vintage racer who also has a BRE replica could show up if Bill can twist his arm too.- Datsun Swap Meet, 5 Sep (Sacramento, CA)
I was gone by 11:00 or 11:30. Just not enough Z traffic. It was good seeing Mike Bibinoff with his Emod rotary 510. He helped me get into Datsuns when he worked at FAP by explaining the years I should look for when buying. Gary was there with his silver 240 and StealthZ - Eric who sold me his BAMF flares. This event made me want a 2 door 510 again, but prices are so out of control on them. Hope to see you on the 25th but I might be finishing the mods we discussed up until Sunday's autocross.- Datsun Swap Meet, 5 Sep (Sacramento, CA)
- 7.1 Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand
I'm glad to hear that most everyone is OK and I hope your kids are feeling better. Christchurch is such a beautiful city but it sounds like some of the buildings took a hit. Bricks down and liquefaction - like the San Francisco quake I was in.- Sacramento Z's ..
I guess I can travel the 4 blocks to this one :classic: I have a neighbor with a Pantera that participates with this group. Oops, I will be autocrossing on the 26th- Post your shaved bumpers
The wheels were Ronals with 245-45-16 in the rear around 9 inch wheels. The fronts were skinnier. The new owner has 16x8 all around.- Post your shaved bumpers
Nice madkaw, 17x8 in the rear? @jwerner2- the airdam was a Kaminari, the flares are one off custom and everything was molded into one piece. When it rolled out of the body shop they were taking bets on how soon it would return with a cracked front airdam. 30 yrs later it's still good and that includes 15 yrs. of daily driving and track days too.- Post your shaved bumpers
Hey MikeMercury that looks really nice! I love the clean bumper look. Here is my brothers old car built in the 80's. A real ticket magnet in California.- The August Sacramento Z Car Reunion
Bill and I should be there.- The July Sacramento Z Car Reunion - July 17th
Sunday the Ferrari was there again along with a GT-40 and a DeTomaso Pantera. Sorry I couldn't attend Saturday. - Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
