Looking to do a V-8 conversion???? Dont do it....I have done 95% of the work! I am looking to trade for an unmolested Z car....Yes I want to stay as close as possible to stock. What I am offering to trade. 1978 280Z, 1974 SBC 350, Bottom end is rebuilt to stock specs with less than 2000 miles on her. Top end is a SBC small chamber 305 head(500 miles). 477 lift cam, performer intake, new holley 650 carb, Billetproof distributor, TH350 tranny, Quarter stick shifter, New shorty headers, Gear drive timing. Dynoed at 297 hp and 305 foot punds of tourque to the rear wheels. Brand new shocks and struts ! Body has ZERO RUST and ZERO door dings! Paint is dark emerald green.....Could use a good buffing...has some scratches but really shines...Looks Wonderful from 5 foot. What the car needs to be complete. Hook up the Speedo. Tac works but is incorrect, Do some work on the passenger floor pan, (only rust on the car) Tranny has a leak.....I cant figure out if it is the pan gasket or what....Tough to get my big but under there. Needs carpet and a couple trim pieces. Finish exhaust.......I had a full exhaust single pipe but it was to restrictive. Just 2 straight pipes dumping under the car for now....you finish out how you like. This car is very tame cruising around town.....But when you are ready for a little excitement simply press the loud pedal and it is an instant ear to ear grin! CAR LOOKS GREAT! If you want to make an offer to purchase....Knock yourself out....But, I am really looking to trade even up for a nice looking nice running Z car.

I thought that i would give you guys first crack to make offers if you like. E88 Head..........Ported and Polished, Oversized valves, HEAVY springs, MS stage III Cam....Less than 100 miles on it. Brand new dizzy....the one for a 1980 280....with built in module e-1280 I think the module is (less than 50 miles) Arizona intake New holley 390....Less than 100 miles on it. Ms square port header....Less than 100 miles on it 5 speed tranny with New clutch and fresh oil change F54 block....In great shape just needs rings......(block is free...you must pick up)

I found the solution to my problem

All this work that I have done to my 78 280 and what do I get....Terrible dyno results Mod List The car already had a F54 block and flat top pistons I added E88 heads...ported and polished over sized valves heavy springs Arizona intake Stage III cam New Holley 390 Today I added a 2.5 inch exhaust flowmaster and a brand new dizzy and module for a 80 280. I am smoking at high RPM...Blue smoke...I guess I need new rings....I guess I lost alot of HP there. Dyno results 115 HP to the rear wheels 145 foot pounds of torque. I am bummed....all this work and money for such a shitty result.

I have a junkyard dizzy in my 78 280..... My advance is not working so I thought it would be a good time to pin the dizzy at full advance.....I plan on using a machine screw to lock it at full advance......My question is this. I have a timing light with the dial on the back. At what RPM do I need to set the timing? What setting do I need to set the dial at on the back of the timing light? How much before top dead center should I set the timing to? And last but not least...... Will doing this improve the performance of my car?
