You're joking?! ROFL Seems strange though, because the Silvia's are a legendary RWD vehicle, except they only have the 4cylinders instead of 6. They do alright despite that however. If you want to see some neat drift racing from an Auckland based Drift Club called NiZAN head to, http://www.nizanclub.com then click on the Movie Gallery link. of course there's lots of other interesting things there too. Poor America, no Skylines, no real Silvias. tut tut, what about Cefiros around the 89 - early 90's era? they're RWD and ok power wise. or the Laurels? they run the same RB series engines as the Skylines, excluding the RB26. Or perhaps the Stagea's? they use all the same RB series engine's and options. Basically a Skyline wagon. I've got a picture of an R34 front on a Stagea arse end, looks good too. If I can find it it'll be attached to this post.

No, it's definately an E-W, I assume there's N-S mountng points or at least it's a relatively simple thing to sort out. I tried to convince my brother to buy a GTi-R but he found it was just too small. Speaking of small, although it's off the subject, when I was last in the local Nissan dealer (a while ago now) and asked whether they had a specific Silvia, the guy said no but then invited me to have a look round the 350Z, so I promptly opened the door and had a seat in it. Looks nice, but I found the door intruded on your cockpit area and kinda felt like a fat guy pushing you into the car. Which was disappointing because most Nissan's sportscars fit me perfectly.

Ooooh, me too. Alfadog, you've got my email address, send it this way if it's not too much trouble. :D Oh, and as for GT2 having a Z432, I think it's the 240ZG. Good thing about GT2 is it also has the 260RS Autech and Nismo Stagea's an 89 Nismo GTR and a 71 KPGC10 GTR. Gotta love that. :classic:

It depends where you are what HP you get, for instance, one of Nissan's S15 adds for New Zealand proudly stated the kw difference between the Australia and NZ Silvias. But that's irrelevant as what it's really about is what the engine is capable of. You find a physically stronger SR20DET in the Pulsar GTi-R's (Baby Godzilla's) than you do in the Silvias which makes them a good starting point for race motors as there's less to do (Apparently). There's an S13 race car in my town, pulling round the 400 mark, was more but in order to maintain reliability it had to be turned down a notch, uses a modified truck intercooler and a bunch of other jazz, a sight to behold. As for putting an RB26 in the Z, the only problem you'll find is funding the project.

Hey there Alan, Just curious as to whether you know if there's a similar difference in positioning with the C110 fender mirrors as there is with the S30 mirrors as in your image. I should be getting some soon if all is going well, I was supposed to get them when I got the car but they were hidden away somewhere apparently the PO of the car who had it before the PO I got it off, had them removed. Strange. Anyway if you could help I'd be very appreciative, I may even be inclined to say thank-you. I had a quick peek under the fenders but found no evidence of a previous positioning so I'm really hoping they are actually fender mirrors as the PO claimed. And as far as 280ZX fender mirrors go, they look more like the ones that were on my brother's old car, which I recently just posted images of. You can find them here; Fender Mirrors Front 3qtr Fender Mirrors Head on They were electric too, only problem was they vibrated a little which made viewing a little difficult at times. Still, I much prefer fender mirrors to door mirrors.

Not really a lack of experience. I had a further look around the website, this explains it for those who are interested; On the way back from the show, the worst possible thing happened. We were about 20 miles from home when the trailer on the truck started swaying back and forth. Nothing too out of the ordinary as it had been doing this for quite some time off and on all the way back from Chicago. This time, I guess I either had the trailer too close to the edge of the road or the shoulder on the road was a little narrow. Either way, the tires on the left side of the trailer hit the gravel and pulled the rest of the trailer into the ditch. This wouldn't have been a problem had there not been a guard rail there that the trailer clipped head on pulling my truck into it and sending LILGTR flying. When I finally stopped the truck going completely opposite traffic (good this there was none at 4:21 in the morning) and the car was no longer on the trailer. It was pitch black outside but I got out and walked around a little bit. There were lots of ruts in the road from my truck and the trailer. I walked even farther down the ditch and I finally found my car. It was laying upside-down in a mangled heap of metal. It was a total loss. Now he's trying to get the insurance company to pay out. Good luck to him I say.

  12. Hey there guys, I'm sorry I know this is somewhat repeating but I tried a few searches and browsed a few titles and couldn't find what I read a while ago in regards to 5Spd boxes. I'm looking at getting a 5Spd for my 240K, because let's face it, it's not really driving if you're not changing the gears yourself. The guy I bought the car from has one that he was going to use to convert, he's told me it's out of a L28ET DR30, and from what I remember of his descriptions when I was getting the car is it's a good box and so he wants a bit for it, it's the type where 1st gear and reverse are on the same branch, I have no idea what to call the box, or if it has a specific name, but yes, first is Left, then down thus making 2nd and 3rd on the same line and 4th and 5th on the same. Sorry about the crappy description but if anyone knows what I'm talking about and can give me an estimate on what these cost, I'd be very grateful. R 2 4 |_|_| |¯|¯| 1 3 5 Gear config is like above.

You're looking at getting a Z car.... And you're not a fan of hatchbacks. Uhmm. :stupid:

First up, that Custom Z is kinda funky looking and I'd like to say congrats and well done on the find and good luck with restoration. Surely though you can understand skepticism, it's the internet it's 70% lies and ignorance. On a funnier note; The funniest "version" I've seen on a car belongs to that of the Toyota Corona, which comes in a... are you ready for it?! EXCITING VERSION! , Yes the Toyota Corona EXiV actually has "EXCITING VERSION" written on the back on some of them. I'm not sure what their basis for comparison is. Oh, and that Z on ebay... No wonder it sounds like a tiger, he's on running 4-1 headers which would leave 2 exhaust ports to exit directly into the atmosphere. LOL

Just to let it be known, we do/did NOT get "ALL" Jap cars in NZ and my bet, CZCar is that you have two 280ZX's. to find out, open the bonnet and look for the VIN number or Engine Plate, infact, you're in NZ, the VIN should be on your Ownership Papers on the top right hand corner. I wish we got all the different Jap cars.

I have a similar problem on my L24 in the Skyline, if you get your head shaved or simply retorqued or any work done by a shop, could you let me know the price you paid? Being you're in NZ I can expect to pay a similar amount I'm guessing. It's a small leak, there's no water in oil, compression test is pretty much identical in all cylinders no watery spark plugs so yeah, except it's not at the back of 6. It's at the RHS of 5. But yes, if you get anything done I'd be most appreciative if you could let me know the costs involved.

Of course, with a bit of searching you could use an actual Datsun wheel with a wooden rim and steel spokes as used on my car. You can view it here. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=6591&size=big&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 However, it will probably be easier to find an of the era MOMO style. Good luck in your search.

I agree with Z Kid, let us know, even though I've recently bought my own new old car, there was another guy from NZ not so long ago who was in search of a 240Z, as I'm sure you know in NZ they're a rare find... I know if I had the moolah I'd find a way to get it, regardless of it's unknown completion ability. Also, I see you have a website devoted to older cars, have you got plans for it to be like an online car magazine or something?
