What about Takumi Fujiwara's car...the Trueno Sprinter Apex GT Twin Cam? (AE86) Next to the 240Z, I think this car was the best in the lower hp races. I would always start with this car. Did they switch out the 86 for the Levin? (probably because the Levin is turbocharged out of the factory.) :stupid: When is the game due to hit the shelfs?

That sounds like a better deal. But, isen't the RB26 and the 2JZ pretty much the same engine? ( In line 6 and all?)

I got mine from a guy I work with. He just didn't have the time for it. So I baught it off him and traded another car for it. ( A 1984 Ford Escort Wagon) It was running and the Z wasn't. So I told him the Ford was worth $200 and that I'd buy the Z if he knocked off $200. He agreed and said that it wasn't worth the hasell to figure out what was wrong. Just a bad ignition switch. :tapemouth Have fun trying to find your Z. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.:classic:

$300 here. The guy couldn't get it to run....this whole time it was the ignition switch. She runs like a champ now. "Carberated 280ZX L28 in a 240z was a piece of cake to swap" he said, but now I have to pull it all back out(now that I know it runs) to rebuild the engine with performance parts from MSA, NOPI and Victoria British. He got the engine out of a 83 ZX sitting in a junkyard. "It had been there for a couple of months and the guy who owned it before said he just had too many problems with it starting and running for a couple of years." So, I think it was a good deal, someone had already done the wrench work to start. Now I have to pull the engine and put what I want in it. By the way, how would I go about swapping the L engine for e RB26DET? I heard that at least one person has successfully completed his. Besides the motor, what other shits would I have to do to the 240? (prep-work, welding new motor mounts..ect.?) Thanks for reading my thread.....
  7. Well I don't have a specific diogram but I do have one that shows how to wire up a MSD ignition control box with the pertronix ignition. Hope some of this will help you. Just check out my gallery for the pic. Have fun....

I talked to one of my Z friends here and he suggested to run a "hot" wire from the battery to the + on the coil. Then short the starter. She started right up....and ran!! The idel was pretty high, probably because there was no dampaning oil in the carbs:stupid: . I excitedly drove the car around the block, but got halfway and the car started to die. I noticed that there was water on the windshield. Damn! I forgot all about the hole in the radiator. Tried to start her the way I did then and nothing. Could she just be hot, or did I fry something:( ? I hope that it was just hot. I put some water in the radiator, will see what happens tomarrow. Any suggestions? Thanks, Brian:alien:
  9. Forgot I had this...... Might be a good thing to have for later reference. Brian:alien: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7065&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

My '72 is doing the same thing, except mine will turn over but stop when the key is in the "ON" position. I'm getting fuel and spark, but she won't run. Could this be a problem with the starter or with the ignition? Thanks Brian:alien:
  11. Would power steering fluid be the same as fork oil?:cross-eye

  13. I know they make a conversion for the rear axels, but what about the front hub? I am assuming that it too will need some welding? Anyone with some advice? (by the way, Those Skyline wheels are tight on the Z!!!) Thanks Brian:alien:
