No choke!!
The choke on the holley should close the flap , you pull it it closes, you push it opens it just that simple. On your SUs this is what you need the intake manifolds the spacers between the SUs and the manifold, center link between the 2 SUs and the linkcage, Balance tube and choke cables, and air filters or one OM filter.

'73 240Z wont make it past 60mph
is it a mechanical fuel pump or electric? If you have rust issues then you need to take care of it. You can grab an air compresor and blow air from the filter to the tank and see what it does if it gets fix it will be only for a little bit then you must pull the gas tank out and coat it. Some times in some cars I do not know why but have pre filters they are small and get clog. If it is a mechanical pump do not forget the little spacer.

Well is hard to tell without hearing it, I was going to tell you to change the plugs. If you have a leak you will find it by looking for the black sud. you may have broken stud. Is it stock headers?

When mine cracked I did away with them, that has been over 20 years ago and I have not seen any problems. I does cover mud, water and dust, but I do not go mud riding nor I drive it in the rain. It used to drive it every day , not anymore. Hey Where is Dothan? I am about 30 mins from Mobile. We meet from time to ime with several Z car guys here in MS or Mobile. Come and join us some day.

differential problem
Man everybody is right it could be anything. Some times when some one works on the brakes they bent the back plate so the drumm drags around it thus making a grainding sound. also the bearings can be on the differential or the ones on the hub.

'72 240z Muffler recommendations?
Grassrootsmotorsports.com has tested several mufflers and several cat backs also Popular hotrod. If you can find the tests you will who did best. Pipe size is important to understabd so you can get out what you want. I used 2 1/4 with a turbo cherry bomb style muffler with a 280z ANSA tips it sounded good and it run good at low mid and top end. I am not into racing but I like to gain economy and power. Now I have an old style MONSA muffler from pace setter this was made back in the late 70's it sounds great but is to loud I can not listen to the Rolling Stones because is to loud, when I was young yea, now that I am old I want quite.

Ball joints from MSA !
Napa has good quality parts, they just do not seem to compete with life waranties and prices but I do not mind as long as I can get a good part. I do buy my Gate belts there also, they also have the long zirk fitting that you can replace on you half shafts and will make it very easy to lubricate.

'72 240z Muffler recommendations?
I used to have ANSA on my Z they are great, I did not know they still made the set up for the 240. I had the a turbo cherry bomb and ANSA tips and sounded great. Now that I am much older I like a quite but deep sound. The Dynomax is a very good muffler has a very good flow how does it sound? If you take it off I may just get it from you:classic:

Ball joints from MSA !
I know e bay has cheap parts but some times they do not. I bought a set of ball joints and were great, had the grease fitting and the snap ring. Years ago I had bad experiences with MSA but these past years they been great. Napa has the Ball joint also.

1973 240z electric fuel pump/alternator upgrade
These guys are right. my memory may fail me but I think those electric pumps have a filter inside them a little round one, looks like a minature airfilter. I have a 73 and I put on a different pump and I did change the Alternator, I bought mine from the people in Oregon and what a difference it made the 90 amp lights became bright and other things started to work. make sure you connected every thing right make sure you are well ground, these cars need a lot of ground.
