  1. I got my tank back today. I asked them not to paint it, but they painted it. I was going to por15 it. Now I have just one vent, facing the right way. I also had them line, that's the picture of the inside. I've never seen this done before. I really wanted to do the por on it, and now I need to clean it up. I was thinking about taking it to a place that does powder coating, and having it sand blasted and then doing the POR on it. should I just have it powder coated. Ideas?

    Cool story . Thank you
  3. What’s this? I’m considering having the radiator flushed, should I have this one done also? Should I put it back in service ?
  4. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Datsun-240Z-Sports-S30-Owner-Owners-User-Guide-Operator-Manual-2-4L-6Cyl-/372495714710 I just found this same manual in my glove box.
  5. Thanks. I did consider that.
  6. I was out working on my carbs and I thought of this picture. How did you get your engine so clean looking. I know I cold polish it, but I don't think that would look good. This is a great looking engine. Did you make that air cleaner ?
  7. It's possible that my car is the first automatic.
  8. According to this https://web.archive.org/web/20131128034951/http://www.editgrid.com/user/mlwilliams/Z_Car_Registry The car was made in 1970, but is a registered 1971. I found other sources like this that lead me to believe the same thing. I'm not going to take the time to re-register it as 71
  9. It looks to me from searching vins on this site that H L S 3 0 - 0 8 9 0 6 is a 1971. Mine being 0987 would also make it a 71. The fact that the door plate is gone, and the oldest title has it as a 71, makes me believe that the guy I bought it from did something to change the title to 70. I was pretty happy with the fact that it's a 70. I know it's still a good deal, but there was a little pride in knowing I had a 70. Weird how I got there, especially when i knew nothing about Z's until I got this car. I always liked the looks, but never got into them. Is there any benefit to the changing of the year from 71 to 70?
  10. Is this the normal method to conceal wires ?
  11. In the glove box
  12. Finn, the dog likes being in the back of the z.
  13. I don’t think there is a door plate! Is there another way to tell
  14. I'm a little confused about the year of the car. The title in 1982 says it's 1971. The most current title says it's a 1970. The vin is the same on all the titles it's hls3008987. What is the actual year?
  15. Believe it or not, I just checked in the glove box. First time. All the receipts and records for the car since 1982, when it was bought by the family I bought it from. They bought it in 1982, ever mile is documented since 1982. Every drive, and every mile documented in the same type of note pad I use. And get this, he bought it from a lady that lived on the same street I use to live on in Sacramento. As a matter of fact, it may be the same complex because it's a short street, and if I recall there is only one apartment complex and a cemetery.
  16. I'm going to clean the fuel lines with carb cleaner, and I ordered a new inline fuel filter. I should have ordered a couple now that I think of it. now the I know the car runs I'm willing to tear into it further. I think I'll pull the carbs off for cleaning and start replacing all the hoses.

  19. I need to replace all the hoses in my 1970 240Z. Has anybody got a quick order guide, or something like that, that will help me get this done. Maybe even possibly something like buy a roll of three hose sizes?
  20. Looks like ztherapy has a rebuild kit and a video? How cool is that. I called and left a message. I want to talk to somebody about this before I order.
  21. I got this in the mail today. Other parts are also coming in.
  22. I really can't do this witout you guys. I'm learning I now know what you mean by the piston, and oil. I turned it upside down, and guess what there's oil in it. Not the proper amount now, but there was oil. What type of oil and how much?? ? The pistons are black and it took a little work to wiggle them out. I'll attach a picture. Can I just clean these up, add oil then try the start sequence again? should the carbs be pulled rebuilt ? I'd sure like to hear it run before I dig much deeper.
