  1. Victor- I appreciate your making that point in the thread-I knew, but other members might not. I have another idea, but I would like a sample of the correct mirror hardware. Rick, Yes, I was Calling his number from what should have been 8am to 10 am his local time-assuming Qld is 14 hours ahead of my local time as I believe-8pm today, here, is really 10Am tomorrow, there! Your examination seems to provide proof that only one version of the mirror was produced-together with the lack of conformity with the Nissan part numbering system, I am beginning to think Nissanjust rotated the flag as well-Hopefully my search within Nissan will turn up something... Welcome, I have both a Z and a ZX as well-I drive the ZX for comfort, and the Z for fun! They get along just fine! Will
  4. I think it has more to do with thermal dynamics and the stresses the heating and cooling cycles in that area create within a fastener. I think the corrosion issue is a problem that contributes to difficulty in removal, not in breaking before removal. I have seen more cars in this situation than I can count, some with very low miles-but lots of driving cycles. Will
  5. Thanks HSH30-H, That seems to be the standard answer-anyone lnow of a used one that is or could be available? Will

TomoHawk, Look for the panels in the 77-78, I am out of town at the moment, but when I get back(sundayPM/ Monday AM), I will try to find the PNs if you havent by then-I'll even take pictures if that would help. Will
  8. Are the mirrors on your car mirror images of each other? If they are a properly matched R and L, then I know what had to be done for a matching (and fully functional) set. Oh, and in the wake of HHGTTU, So Long, And Thanks For The Fish! Will PS, could you take a few pictures of both mirrors for me?
  9. Now I am confused-I never said it took much... Your drivers side is our passenger side-hence we are looking for your driverside mirrors... Will
  10. Follow the direction of the water when you flush... :stupid: Thanks Rick-I'll give them a call-no luck so far Will
  11. Email Guico, maybe the employee of the month could come on loan-if you don't let the robots hands get too pruney... Will

  13. I have been trying to call his shop since 8am his time-it either rings off the hook, or it is buisy! Now I don't guess I need to make that call... Will PS, any chance of a used one? As long as the stalk isn't broken, I can make do.
  14. I believe I have it. Got an oem DS side mirror hanging around... even if you don't, I'll get a pic or two tomorrow, and see if it is what you are after... Will
  15. I have called Nissan USA, and gotten some information, and a proceedure to go about in trying to find these mirrors. In the course of the conversation I informed the gentleman I was speaking to that I would be happy to do the research myself, but that I would like pertinant points of contact, or access to the other versions(non USA) of Efast(Nissans' In-house parts program)-or equivalent-he said he would check into that, but that obviously those were not the prepaired fare that were at ready for release. Because this conversation was well outside of the standard Nissan script, permissions and clearances would have to be verified before I was to be given such access. On a brighter possability, One of the Deprtment heads within the parts distribution framework will be getting a letter in a two days containing all of the part numbers listed in this thread, and several photos of the drivers side mirror we are trying to match. The gentleman will be in the office on Thursday, and my point of contact has promissed to hand deliver the request to him personally. I have also been told that if this is not a productive request, there are other avenues to explore. I was able to get telephone numbers to several of the Nissan parts distribution locations in the UK, but asked not to use them until we had explored the more local means of finding out about the mirors. I have also contacted both allZparts.com/.au, and MJPauto.com to attempt to enlist their help in finding some. Will
  16. Alan, Thanks for the attempt, and the info. The search continues... Will
  17. Rick, Sounds like you are deep in a Vegemite withdrawl-ya grumpy bastard! If you can't find any at home, we can get it now through the power of ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43401&item=4373300721&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V Will
  18. The 280ZX is more of a touring car, it is more plush, comfortable, and quiet. Though the 280ZX is more aerodynamic than an early Z (S30), it is not as quick, or responsive. I have one and it is the car I prefer for longer trips-unless I am going to show off my 240Z-but for running around town-and driving excitement-the 240Z is way out front! Will
  19. No wonder it isn't running-put some clothes on when you work on that car!!! I just couldn't resist!! Seriously, I think you are on the right path now! Will
  20. "altering government property" All I did was repaint the letters to make them more readable-same color-just not faded and chalky. I went to court over the ticket because I had improved the readability of the plate. I took in before and after photos, and while the judge agreed that I had improved the plate, the fact was, I had altered it. Will
  21. Carl, You are worth all of the ten characters in the world... Will
  22. Be very careful, and ask at the DMV before you do any work to an old plate-in some states it is illegal to mess with it even if it is unreadable, I got a $300 fine once... I do not wish that on you... Will
  23. Thanks for the option Rick, I'll email him for info! Will
