  1. I don't care for the hatch badges, I sort of like the hood emblem, but the fender scripts and quarter badges are a "Must be present to win" kind of thing. Will

Rick, I think you may be the youngest member here-you are as young as you feel! Most of the time I fall in closer the middle-42 Will
  3. The plastic is easy, the sheet metal is the hard part-especially to set up for limited mass production. Will
  4. Mickey Carter owns and operates Asian Automotive, and he is an outstanding mechanic. If I didn't do the work on my car, I would pay Mickey to. Mickeys Dad is one of my closest friends-and a Master Datsun mechanic-he is the one that came up with the "factory fix" for the '73 carbs. Will
  5. Welcome to the club! This club is a wealth of early Z knowledge, and a group of great members! Enjoy it. There is also a Local Z club in Savannah, We meet the third tuesday of every month at 7pm at B&D Burgers on Abercorn-that club is open to all people interested in Z cars-from the 240Z-350Z. Next Tuesday is the next meeting, and the following Saturday night we are meeting at the Sonic in Garden City. I hope to see you at the meetings-there are only a few members with Early Zs, PM me if you wnat more info. Will PS, It does look good, if you need a hand checking the car out, let me know.
  6. Victor, Did you dial a phone sex number instead-the longer the call, the more they get-must have been a hell of an opening pitch!!! I called Apple for customer supportseveral times, and used to get a phone sex outfit about every other call-by mistake... I use Baseball rules. On calls where I am trying to buy, I give three minutes to hold, hang-up, continue with my day and try again later. If after the third phone call I have not been successful in at least leaving my name and number for a return call, I move to the next vendor. If I was successful in leaving my info, I allow three hours for a returned call-if not, I move on... Will

Welcome! I have enjoyed being a member here, and I would think you would too. Many members are extreemly knowledgeable, and with members from all over the world, that makes for a lot of information about allk of the different options and standard of models of the S30! Again, Welcome! Will
  8. Welcome! There are no dampers on the early (thin) bumpers, they are mounted with samped steel brackets, to bring the bumper closer to the body, use(and modify) 70-72 brackets(the brackets were elongated in '73). Just remember any little nudge, parking indiscression, or doofus behind the wheel will impart paint and sheetmetal repair-not to mention bumper damage-the thin bumpers are light and beautiful, but they really don't offer any protection to speak of. Will
  9. The condition of vapor lock would only make a stop longer-not totally disable the car. As Lance said, stop in for gas and a drink, and stay till the car cools down a little(popping the hood helps). Not something to keep you from traveling unless you stop on railroad tracks...more like a sand in the shoes sort of thing... Will
  10. Sounds like the body shop owner needs to have the choice: Small claims court or not... Will
  11. First read the Ad! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-Datsun-240z-1973-Datsun-240z-ClassicZ-17-345-mi-Great-Condition_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4565975526QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW This may be-and probably is-a very nice car, but is the seller simply missing a bolt or two? For 20K (or more) for a '73 automatic with upgrades, I would expect to see the floors, the actual seats, and more detail in the pictures-telling a seller what he won't do(pull up the carpet, list what comes with the car) only inspires me to tell him what I won't do-give any consideration to buy! Paint does not fade from being stored in a garage.... Hearing that his "Marvelous Mechanic" with "extensive experience buying and selling on eBay, and he knows better than anyone else the mechanical condition of my car.", delegated an ad for such an automobile does not inspire me to think the mechanic thought the car was a 20K car either. Couple that with the variables that the law allows when buying a car from a private individual, and not someone "in the business", and there is a great deal of potentially problematic ground. This is a genleman who should use a realtor to sell his house, and a mechanic or dealer to sell his car. He sees what he knows is there, and not the seller holding the money. I bet it will be ten days untill he finds he is too buisy to sell the car. Will
  12. verify the injector harness, and that the power line to the EFI system is connected(iot has a plug right by the battery-I usess to unplug mine in college to be able to park my car outside the dorm overnight-engine will turn over like crazy, but will never start... Will
  13. Just a thought, the injectors are batch fired, so if one is firing more should be too. Will

The VB stuf is made by Tabco. Buying direct is a good bit cheeper. Will

I bought 4 NOS late '71-'73 consoles to put up for posterity-they came with the emblem in question. I also bought a single emblem as a spare. Will

Saro-it is a cover for a switch location that is not used in the USA-currently there are two if them on ebay Will
  20. :finger:All right now Chris, you already sniped a Rally clock from me-Don't start a fight over that console, or that trick carpotater... If you aren't sure whether I am kidding, be 100% certian that I am-or I will send you a ripe Diaper!

You need the 2+2 clutch kit if you are using the flywheel form the 2+2 tranny(the trannys are the same, but the flywheels are different) Will

Ed, I have not seen the system you have, but it sounds like moving the contacts from a NO to a NC on the relay would probably take care of it in short order-email me their wiring diagram, and I'll take a look. Will
  23. Why didn't you try the dry ice route? Low involvement, easy, cheep, and clean! Use a torch to loosen undercoating for a scraper, burn out where you can't reach, and wipe down with mineral spirits for the leftovers... WIll
  24. 26th gives great advice-the club cd is somethign I use very often. Some of the guys at the Nissan Parts counter aren't too careful when they are asked to find somethignfor a 240-actually had one tell me I needed to go to the Volvo dealer... If you have the CD, you can browse to your hearts content, and be sure (in most cases) that the part number you ask for actually represents the part you need. Will
  25. I am working on getting copies of all of the various parts manuals/fiche/software for the club. Will
