  1. It will take some doing, the crimp has a healthy reach, and stainless is difficult to glue to, especially when the points of contact are all on the edge of the glass. Lets not forge the vibration and temperature/weather extreems this tiny area of adhesive will be expected to work in. OOps, there is also a rubber pad behind the mirror as well, it is not glued to anything, just positioned between the glass and the flag to absorb the shock from both crimping and travel. I will post a couple of pictures of the parts in a few minutes. Will

  5. An update on the mirror, the switch, and more! I sent another letter to Nissan USA (OK, it goes out Monday) with more details on the Mirror, and all of the details on the Switch. I also requested copies of some literature for the club. Will

Keep going Bill-there is a beautiful Z at the end of the tunnel! Will
  7. Youch! Michael, If you were closer, I'd store your project for free. When the time comes to try again, will you be able to afford as nice a project as you are thinking of letting go? You have already done so much of the work... Consider stabilizing the chassis, storing the parts in it, and storing the whole thing outside-Put a weatherstrip kit in it, por the underside, tarp it up and roll it beside the shed. The heat wont do anything more to the car than it would if it were finished-the tarp will keep the UV out. Maybe even a $600 portable carport that can also hold building supplies... Hell, spend $300 for a used 20foot cargo container, and have a vault for the project that will become a secure garage and allow you to qualify for Hagerty insurance when she is done. Any way you look at it you will be spending at least one more full day on the project whether it is posting, boxing and shipping over several days, or setting it up for storage. Will

Both my cabinet and my bucket are siphon fed-for the $11 I paid for it, the space it a takes up when I am not using it, and its portability, I would put it up against a pressurized put any day. Pressureized does work better because it forces the media into the airsteam, and the siphoon feed does have a tendancy dig its own hole in the media. But a quick kick of the bucket, and you are back in the sand. In the cabinet, the media continually gets re-used if you put the proper amount of media in the cabinet, it will just keep going. No real need for a pressureized system there. Will

Welcome into the community! Let's see your Z-Post pictures!!! Will
  10. Somehow I managed to miss your posts-sorry. Your mirrors are different, the glass is glued in (atleast if they are OEM) The 240Z has the glass held captive by a full crimp around the circumferance of the flag. I can post pictures tomorrow(I will check for your answer this time), but once again, your mirrors on a 280 are different. If you are talking about the mirrors on the red Z in your gallery, those look like Baby Turbo Mirrors-they are probably glued as well-at 12.95 each it is probably cheeper to replace the whole thing. www.racecarsupply.com/html/mirrors.html Will
  11. If you want to go to all of the trouble to put a BMW engine in a Z, do it right and put in a late model 12 cyl-tons of upgradeability, more torque than you can shake a stick at, and wipe the floor with an M6 on a bad day whilts in dire need of a tuneup! Strange, a BMW guy with a BMW that never runs and a Mercedes for a daily driver! Sounds more like a MB guy with a BMW! The others are place holders for the Z-You'll figure it out! Will
  12. When you got the AC working did you fully evacuate it first and then charge it properly, or just add some freon/substitute? Noth that the dealer installed AC was all that great, but it should have the best shot at pleasing you before you start throwing money at the problem. Will
  13. You have a thirteen year old Mercedes and a seventeen year old BMW, and you think Z parts are expensive? Wait until you go to buy parts for one of them! I knew the Mercedes would get cast aside for the Z-but I though it would be for the sheer driving enjoyment-not the cost of parts! I think most of us have fought like the seagulls on "Finding Nemo" for ebay (parts and cars) already-ChrisA snatched a Rally clock from my grasp once-but he did turn me on to a Diaper Geenie(Thanks again, by the way!)-so it all worked out! A "for sale" and then "not" fairlady had all of our beaks through the sail not that long ago. Many of us have been collecting parts from the Pick-N-Pull, and buying parts cars to get our bits. I think everybody wants the best parts they can find for their car. Several of us buy NOS whenever we can find them, and when Chloe was around, she took care of all of our needs(in terms of Z parts that is...). The classifieds here, Ebay, the local junkyard, and Dumb luck are probably your best sources of used parts. The Vendor list also has good places to check for used, NOS, and Reproduction parts. Will
  14. I looked throught the '82 FSM, and could not track the boost sensor connector (#53) to a connector specific to the boost sensor amp-even though I did find reference to that part in the turbo wiring schematic. It is a three conductor connector that has the following wire colors: blue with white stripe, green, and black. From the location within the schematic-the boost sensor housing could and probably does contain the amplifier as well. If you supply the Vin for the car your Turbo parts came from, I will run it through the Nisan Parts program, and work the location out from the part number. Will

Kmack, It gets darkest before the dawn-I would say you have survived past midnight! Keeping the Z clinches it-you are in a better frame of mind-the body will follow! I had to go to the restroom on a helicopter ride as a child-the guy I hit would say it was the same sort of thing only in Georgia! ...Wait a minute, I hit a stationary target using a whole lot less "water"-but then, I really, really had to go, and went before my Mom noticed what I was doing! There is nothing like eye contact with your target! When we landed she made me go find and appologize to the gentleman I wet-I wonder as an adult, with all of that down draft just how much of that few ounces actually made it to the ground-well to the man... Still, a valuable lesson-for a four year old-I still remember it 38 years later... ...but my first unbridled drive in my own Z was much more exciting than peeing out of a huge helicopter on Hunter Army Airfield at four years old-I almost wet myself again...
