Half-Shaft U-Joint Rebuild
By flipping the pin mechanism over it extended the lower part of the shifter a 1/2 inch. Seem to work fine. I haven't measured the total movement of the shifter ball yet for comparison. More to come as I progress. Forgot to order Redline and don't have enough. So have to find some. Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Half-Shaft U-Joint Rebuild
The R200 I purchased came from a 300z with stub axles that bolt to my 240z halfshafts. Came with haft-shafts that need new joints. My 240 shafts are ready to so bolted them in. Just checking to make sure it's okay. Somewhere I heard R200s have a shorter shaft on one side???? Not sure where I heard that. Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Nice. If it looks like a ........ Okay so I replaced the rear Driveline joint and added the R200 yoke. R200 is in installed along with drive line. Question: is there a left-right half-shaft? Is one shorter than another? Can I use the 240 shafts? Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Half-Shaft U-Joint Rebuild
Yah so you know I have a series I console that I refuse to cut. plus I wanted to maintain the short shift lever I am used to. So I made up my mind I find a solution. first I reversed the location of the fulcrum pin which dropped it further into the trans without any negative effect. Then I took a lever from a 83 Zx which is nearly straight and put it in a vise and started working on it with a benzine torch and a floor jack handle. Kept working it till it cleared the console. Once that was done I needed it to go up into the inner boot and the console boot. So far it clears everything. Final test will be actually driving. Put the R200 in today and drive line is perfect except the rear yoke. Length is good and So i experimented with taking out the u joint so I can add the new yoke. Havent done that in a while and the Nissan yokes are a royal pain. Installing should be easy. Really erked me to remove a good joint. Two days ago I was about to abandon the change over project but took my anger out on Zed Head. Then decided to prove I was wasn't s total idiot. I'm done with that now. I'll give keep you posted. Help: U-joint replacement 71 240z
Mike Thanks I tried earlier today and didn't really find anything either. Last time I did it was on the C1 Vette. Never tried to do the Z. I had Spicer joints put in some 15 years ago when I had the driveline made. Guess I'll try the old bench vice and socket method. I will check out your link first. Thanks again for the help Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Help: U-joint replacement 71 240z
Okay you seems you are focused on what I don't know? So a little personal history. Been working on early Zs for over 25 years. Last time I worried about U joints was 2002 when I had my current drive line made. I had Spicer joints installed then. Currently I am adding a R200 with Mfactory LSD. The R200 is from a 300z. I purchased a conversion yoke from Zcardepot. So help me understand what I don't know???? Cause you don't know what you don't know. Now back to my original topic. I haven't personally performed the replacement of a Spicer joint in over 20 years. So if you know a link or have good suggestions on the actual process I would appreciate it. If you are going to be negative as you normally can be then STOP as you said earlier. I promise I can do it without you. others here offer great suggestions a positive support. Thanks Don Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Radio for 240Z that plays MP3's from flash drive?
You can have your hatAchi radio converted to a non analog with 4 speaker outputs aux input and blue tooth. It will remain stock looking and auto seek tuner still operable. I had a Corvette GM wonder bar converted in January and my series I radio is scheduled to be completed June 1. Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Series I antenna
Mike I think you could be right. My experience is to the 70 - 71 years. I use the series I & II terminology so others know the general time period of the build date. Many of us accept that parts change from one car to the next. Keeps me always curious. Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile Ps I envy your collection

Shifter question
So I am used to my series I 4 speed with a shortened shift lever. Tuesday I drove a friends 73 with the this same transmission and a shortened lever. Geez what a difference. Quick positive and so much better. Seems like it is worth making the swap just for that improvement. Guess things got better in those 13 years. Time to get it done Thx for the input Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
