It also appears that the back corner received impact damage as well. That explains the weld repairs and distorted edge. I will need to try and address that too...

How true. I put mine in place at first and thought.... "hmmmm, must be for a series 1!" It took a little manipulating on the anvil and the hammer and dollies but it will be just right now. The Tabco panels are very square and mostly right angles. The car has softer curves and the metal has to curve away from the corners a bit. I am very happy with the fit at the moment. I have some metal work to do under the panel first as I found some rust but I am confident that it will look really good when I get it welded on.

Repairs from PO and shot of thick bondo.

Wow. A little disappointed in finding almost 3/4" of bondo on the quarter panel. I knew there was a previous accident on this corner but I thought the replacement quarter panel was installed to fix it. Must of happened after the quarter repair.
  5. That is some very nice welding my friend!
  6. Happily awaiting the finished product! Sounds like they will be ready to sell and ship about the same time as I will be needing them or sooner. Let me know if you need a Canadian rep! [emoji3]
  7. I don't think the OP is trying to Hustle anyone here. I have supported his initiative from the beginning, much as I have with others like Eurodat who manufactured a complete bumper mount kit without a proven product and shipped them after he test fit it himself rigorously. I would like to give Metalman the same benefit of the doubt. Looking forward to pics of the finished product and hoping it turns out as well as we all expect!
  8. Might as well start a "buy" list. Add my name too.

Aaaaand..... might as well jump right in and start on the lower quarter ends! Mocking up. And poof it's gone!

Looks great! I still have to do mine...
  11. Very true. I wish there was a facility close by me. I would definitely considered that over sand blasting. I still have the outer shell to sand off now too as I didn't sand blast any sheet metal.

So I figured out a problem I was having with accessing the areas around the bumper shocks. I wanted them gone so I could clean up the area underneath them in order to prep for paint etc. The problem was the car was suspended by the bumper shocks on the rotisserie and I need the car on the rotisserie in order to paint the underside properly. So I decided to manufacture some rods threaded on both ends to bolt the car via the extra bumper mounts on the 280's. Threaded the 10mm rod with 1.25 die. threaded the rod into the bumper mounts and tensioned them with washers and nuts Added some piping to stiffen the bolts up and to provide standoff for the rotisserie added a small piece to adjust for the angle of the bumper mounts Now I can work on the bumper mount areas. The new Tabco panels will replace the back corners and fill in the old bumper shock locations too. And now I can toss these!

Wasn't really thinking I had any extra openings... do I? I am putting the stock system back in and possibly adding air conditioning too. Didn't notice any extra holes that I remember!
  14. @disepyon Build an undershroud that can be flat shipped, either riveted or bolted together that has a modern functional look and you will sell lots. Guys going for the OEM look will want an original piece anyways. Make it a custom unit, maybe out of stainless or powder coated and it will be a hit!
  15. I would love a modern version punched out of stainless...
  16. That would be a hot seller
  17. Another part I would love to see you manufacture is the under engine shroud! Preferably in a three piece kit for shipping that bolts together. That would be awesome!

Is the collar removable? Looks like something I could have used for the last three months!
  19. 280Z's manufactured up until August 76 I believe had the full size spare. Mine has a full size...

Did a lot of cleanup welding and grinding. Got the valance support and horn mounts welded back on! Also removed the AC bottle mount from the shock tower. Also ordered the CXRacing coilovers!
  21. I dunno. I think my method of sandblasting every night for three months and achieving half as good results was a better way...
  22. Very honourable of you sir!
  23. Charlie at Zedd Findings already makes the front frame rails. He also bought a set of the rocker replacements from you. Are you both going to be manufacturing the same parts now? That is cool if you guys have an agreement, I just wouldn't like to see you guys have any issues in terms of offering similar parts to our small market... Charlie's rails... I found his rails were good. They did not fit the front of the car like the factory rails in terms of the width. I posted about how they are wider than factory rails where the radiator sits. They also seemed to have weldments and capture bits in the front tips that were unnecessary for my 76. I had to cut some metal off to make them fit in the lower rad support. Other than that, they were great! Beautiful TIG welds and capture nuts in mostly all the places needed.
