  1. I have over 1000 songs on my iPod, do you have any idea how many CDs I'd have to lug around for this variety!? Furthermore, I can listen to my iPod anywhere...in my car, at the office, while running or moutain biking (try that with a CD!), in the air port, on a plane, in hotel rooms, and the list goes on. It is a convience issue no doubt. And frankly when listening to audio through head phones you will not notice the difference in quality between a CD and am MP3 file due to the limitations of the head phones (read speakers) so why the hell not an MP3 player then.
  2. Correct, that's why the ST kit is recommended for the early cars as it comes with all the mounting hardware thus no cutting nor drilling is necessary. I have one in the box sitting under the rear of my early 240Z waiting for me to get around to working on the car again.
  3. Thank you for the post, I'm looking at their 3.1L stroker myself. :devious:

VERY COOL!! Puts a smile on my face every time I see someone recognizing the 240Z in this way.
  5. That sounds right to me too.
  6. I do not believe this to be the case at all. The '70 and '71 cars are much lighter and had pretty much the same equipment. I believe that we can all agree that the '73 may be considered the worst if for nothing else the blasted flat-top carbs! Much of this will simply be one's own opinion.

If you think so then you need to look at the series I features that are on many of the '71 (series II) models. It's not that clear cut as has been pointed out and discussed heavily on this board in the past. My 10/70 production date is a '70 with all of the series I spec parts/features. I know of others that have 10/70 production cars that are titled as '71. The same goes for 11/70 production cars and even some 9/70 production cars. It had a LOT to do with shipping, port delays, and what the dealer decided to do (i.e. call it a '71 so they could charge the new higher price). Do a search on this forum and also read up on zhome and you will find all kind of information on this topic. Also, there is a thread on here where people have listed their VINs and some included production dates, this is a good way to see how blured the line is.
  8. Damn if only I had the cash!!

It could go either way as this is about the time of year when the year model was being changed. There is a lot of discussion on this topic so I'd recommend a quick search and start reading if you are interested in this aspect of the Z history.

Look through the feedback that you two exchanged this would be the only way you will find who you bought it from unless you have your old emails from the transaction. eBay only keeps closed auctions in their system for 90 days.

Beandip, they are 4 screw. Do you have more information on this, I really know very little about the carbs. Also, it was sticking prior to my hitting it with carb cleaner. Before removing the dome is there anything I should know or have on hand (i.e. drain anything, new gaskets, etc)?

I have a little knowledge about the SU carbs and have a question. My front carb seems to work properly the issue is my rear one. When I lift the piston up it does not feel the same as the front nor does it seem to drop quite the same, further when it is lifted all the way up it sticks and does not drop at all...I have to open the filler on the top of the dome and tap it before it drops. I have already sprayed carb cleaner in through the air horn and that seemed to only help just ever so slightly. Any thoughts, ideas, HELP!? Please....

Has anyone had any luck with nice battery hold downs for an Optima battery in a 240Z yet? I am starting my search for one.
  14. As stated above with the age of these cars there is no telling what has been replaced/swapped out so the best bet is a personal inspection. I completely agree with the removal of the rear diff cover and reading the numbers on the gears, this is by far the best and most accurate method...though there are others as mentioned above. Also, as for the difference between the R180 and R200 take a look at this thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4270&highlight=r180+r200+difference Then just for fun you may also want to read up on this thread as there is a ton of good information in it including a list of what diff came STOCK in which car: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1568&pp=15 Lastly, I just want to suggest that you use the search feature of this site as there is SOOOOO much great information here already and the majority of questions have already been asked and answered...repeatedly in many cases. I'm not coming down hard on you or anything just helping you learn about the site and Z cars...there's a wealth of information and help on this forum, in my opinion this is the best Z car site on the web!
  15. That car looks a little 'weathered' so good luck to the new owner in finding parts in the states for that one. :disappoin Lots of work and expense it seems; even more so than our Z's.

I had heard about the movie a while back and nothing since...interested in seeing it when/if it comes out though! I have the complete 52-episode Speed Racer collection on a collectors edition DVD set that was available a few years back. As for the question about the car, the base would be a Corvette. It's already been done! I wish I had all of my bookmarks with me (I'm in a hotel not at home where my bookmarks are). You guys just need to do a little Google searching. Here are a couple links I found: http://www.sussexcountyonline.com/news/columns/cars/carreviews/speedracer.html http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?DocId=1813&CarID=258 http://favoritetoons.com/speed-racer.php http://www.speedracer.com
  20. Wow! :surprised Thank you for the post Chris, I had no idea. I have missed his posts on this site for a long time now, he was such a wealth of information and always willing to help and answer even the simplest of questions (no matter how stupid they may have been...I know because when I was new here I asked my fair share!). We will all miss you and everything you contributed to us all.

SportZ, I just went to the old site and all links indicate that it's closing up. What I was looking for is if there are any back issues available for purchase? Please let me know ASAP as I'm certain that things will be moving very quickly at this point as far as people moving and office space being vacated etc.

There is always the possibility that the previous owner had it painted/powdercoated yellow. Just something to keep in mind.
  23. Time for a visit to the tranny shop. I had a car popping out of gear once and it turned out that there was a 'bur' on the cog for the gear it was popping out of. You should also check out this thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20158
  24. Where was it this year? Where is it next year?
