  1. Here's a nice example of just how far one of our members is willing to go to get a new engine for his Z. The story is that he just moved from Houston to Austin and shortly before doing so he had put a junk yard engine in his Z. Now that engine has died and the car is in Houston. Enter me. I had a complete running engine for sale but it was in Austin and his only car between he and his wife was now a Neon. Hmmm...how to get a Z engine from Austin to Houston when the only mode of transportation is a Neon.... Take a look at these pix for the answer! Suprisingly it wasn't all that hard to get in there...I can't say about getting it out as that was not part of the deal.

What is that? I have a 240Z so I'm not farmiliar with this part. On the label it seems to indicate that it has to due with the fuel delivery in some way.

I need some help identifying the parts in the attached pix. They should have all come off of a '82 280ZX non-turbo but since I'm not into those I just don't know what these are (plus I didn't pull them, they came with a lot of parts purchased from a buy stripping his car). The last two pix are the same part but I zoomed in on the label.
  4. That sorry arse seller! I have been working with him on this part for two weeks and he has obviously sold it. You did get what I feel is a good deal on the part!! Congrats.

Say, thanx guys!! I was telling someone at work about these today and wanted to share the links with him.
  6. That's cool, I really thought you were directing that at me since you quoted me and all which rubbed me the wrong way since I had never implied those things. All's good now.

Wasn't there a thread a while back talking about 5.0L Miatas? I have searched and still could not find it.
  8. I'm not sure where you figured I was saying this when you quoted me but I insinuated no such thing in any way! Please do not attack people on this forum when you have no basis.
  9. Check NADA, it's a fair value I think but only if you don't have tons of cash into your Z in upgrades and restore expenses. Allstate has something like this also, my agent told me that their guidlines were a lot like Hagerty's.
  10. The guy I talked to at Hagerty or Grundy (can't remember which) told me that I could never drive it to work (I asked because I do this a couple times a year on a really nice day) but in the same sentence he also said that they really don't know where you are driving to or from. This comes down to one's own integrety, ethics, and morallity. You can drive it to work or the store and if something does happen lie about what you were doing but you'd better make sure the story is solid and any police report reflects what you tell the insurance company. Now at this point you may be committing a crime by falsifying a police report and certainly committing insurance fraud. If you are caught you'd better believe you will pay the price. A huge number of people get away with this kind of thing every year...but do you really want to risk being one of the ones who gets caught? Just my 2cents worth.
  11. And who's your policy with? I spoke with Hagerty and they will not cover the car at all if you ever use it to race.
  12. CAUTION!!! Not all agents will tell you everything, and not all agents know everything. I used to work for an insurance company and it was amazing how many customers would call and have no idea what insurance coverage they did and didn't have. They constantly told me that the agent just sold them what he said they needed and they didn't questions it but when they got hit by an uninsured/underinsured driver and found that they were not covered they were shocked! Your best bet is to read the ENTIRE POLICY, BEFORE signing it and paying any money!! You must watch out for yourself and not rely on the insurance agent to do it all for you. Ask questions if you are confused or do not understand and if you are uncomfortable with the answers or not confident in the agent's answers call the underwriting department for that company and ask them.
  13. Awww come on MikeW...get that UPS for the TiVo...that little guy will thank you for it...both of mine have and they show it by still recording even if the power is out.

Did you move? I thought you were in Dallas Mike.
  15. 1) No, I don't have one of these companies yet I have my Z on my Allstate policy with my other autos. 2) Don't know, for the same reason as #1. 3) Lie. But if you get caught, which typically happen during a claim, they will not pay out and will also non-renew your policy. It's a bad idea and not recommended but the only way around it I see unless you have a friend/relative with a garage that will let you use it or pay for a garage style storage unit (not an open air parking storage like I have for the parts car and trailer).

You bidding on the one on eBay for sale? I've been watching it but will not be bidding. I had the same questions though. I have heard of this swap but never seen any write-ups on it. kmack, do you have any input? I know that you talked about doing this swap.

Does nobody have this on TiVo who is willing to put it on a VHS for me? INF, how about you...I could even pick it up from you here in town?

I second that. Proper torque is preferred.
  19. NO! You can get a used stock hatch for $50-100 depending upon condition, and a fiberglass hood for a bit over $100. So $1000 for a light-weight hatch is really high IMHO. I paid $1500 for my '70 240Z to put this in perspective even more.
  20. I've been patiently and quietly waiting to know how much you want for them for weeks. We had a discission about them on PM.

Hey, you posted your request to my 'parts for sale' thread and I replied but have not heard back from you. Are you still needing this part?

I was wondering this myself the other day when I saw this auction. I still have no idea.

"Women are NOT for Decoration"....certainly not the one holding the sign!!! :tapemouth I'm assuming that she's protesting Hooters....funny thing is that I know plenty of women that like going there...my wife loves their hot wings.
  24. In the US I have seen them sell for as little as $200 on up to $300 for the part...then add shipping to where ever. These are used parts of course. As for junk yards...I was hot on the search last month and they were not available any cheaper. Most junk yards only had complete LD28 engines and would not part them out, they wanted to sell the entire engine. But I did find one that was selling the engine for $200 so I convinced them to pull the crank and sell it to me for the same price leaving them some additional parts they could still sell. These little gems are rather tough to find and when you do locate one they hold a nice high price tag on them.
  25. I took a look at the pix of the part you need. Are you still looking for one and did you really want to drive down here to pick it up? I'm about 1000 miles from Cedar Rapids (my in-laws live there) so I know about the drive... If you are still looking and want to come get it I will go take a look and shoot a couple pix of mine so you can see the if you want it.
