Limo tint - 5% I had this on a previous car and loved it! Nice and dark, nobody and I mean nobody could see what I had in the car (thump thump)...then again these were in my younger years...I can't do music that loud any more.
  2. There's slightly more to it than that. You must live together and present yourselves as being married...then you are considered common law (and the 6 months is only a general guideline not a hard fast rule/law). I had to check into this once to see how screwed I may be when I kicked someone to the curb after being together 4 years 3.5 of which we lived together.

Well it seems as though I'm not the only person who has worked in a tint shop. From the information given it sound as though most everything has been covered but I will summarize and give my thoughts any how. Summary: Window tint is great stuff (and on the inside of the car), it has a function to keep the inside of your auto cooler as well as make it more difficult to see anything inside of it. When it's done right it will last a good while, but DO NOT use that crap you can go buy at Pep Boys it's trash! Most any window can be done in one piece of tint, the quarter windows on a Z are quite easy...we have even done the rear window of a '92 Vette in one piece!! Now it that can be done just about anything can be (window tinting is a artwork, much like bodywok...anyone can buy Bondo but to have it done right you have to have the right tools and knowledge). Removal - lots of good ideas here but not the healthiest nor most environmentally friendly...instead of amonia try using Simple Green. On all the windows you can just peal the film off then use soapy water (a few drops of lemon fresh Joy and water in a squirt bottle) and a razor blade to remove the glue (takes only a few minutes per window instead of "bagging" them with the trash bag). NOTE: on the rear window if you have a defroster you must bag the window as previously described with a trash bag and allow it to 'bake' in the sun a while which will serve two purposes...it will make the old brittle film plyable and more likely to come off in one piece...and also soften up the glue so it will peel off easier. After this you can repeat the bagging process (film gone now) to get more of the glue off or soften it up more if necessary. Do not use anything to scrape your window or you will destroy the defroster!! Now use a Scrunge (found in the grocery store with the dish spunges) and more Simple Green and the glue will come right off with our harming anything. Additional Thoughts: Do not tint you windshield unless you have a skin condition sensitive to UV (sunlight) and you have a Dr. note stating so (and you cary it in your car) or you WILL get a ticket. All newer windshields have an AS1 line on them and it is illegal to have any tint below this line (in any state!). Also, check your state laws...in CA for example I believe it is illegal to have any tint on the front windows (driver's and passenger's doors)...there's probably a grandfather clause but you will need to check the laws that apply in your area. I would also not recommend tinting them while out of the car as you can damage the file while installing the windows plus you may tint them too close to the edge and the film may end up under the gasket (rear window for example) and this can cause problems if the gasket pulls the film it will cause damage or begin peeling (not to mention that if you want to remove it later you will have trouble as the edges will be under the gasket). No tint shop I have ever heard of removes windows to remove or install tint. Hope that my experience in this area has been of use to some of you here.
  4. No, I didn't see that...thanx for setting me straight Bambi, I can always count on you to do that for me. :stupid:
  5. I believe that Victoria British carries them. Nissan probably also has them but for a pretty penny. You may also try some of your local drivetrain or transmission shops.

Well you guys asked what happened to the car...I asked the seller and here's his response:
  7. I thought some people would get a kick out of those old pix!! Can you believe that this was a real kit being sold for the Z car!? :stupid:
  8. No way! Not that set up...but this one maybe! Just remember...it can always be worse! <img src="http://zhome.com/History/Images/delstar2Sm.jpg" border="0" alt="" /> <br /> <img src="http://zhome.com/History/Images/delstarcSm2.jpg" border="0" alt="" /><br /> This is courtesy of an old post and took me some hunting to find it again: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7131&highlight=space+ship

If you want them to be more durable then buy the Heavy Duty aluminum foil. That might be stronger then the OEM 70-72 bumpers.

Two words: Aluminum Foil Again...telephone pole...very solid, sturdy, and durable.

Or you could just do like on the 80's jacked up to the sky Toyota truck owners and cut off a section of an old telephone pole and just bolt it up. Bang, a homemade bumper!!! :stupid: :stupid:
  12. I found it!!! You're in luck that I keep the kind of records I do (some call me anal). The name of the place iis All Parts Auto & Truck in Springfield MO. Here's a link to a quick search I did to locate their address and phone number. I gave them my credit card by phone and address and the part showed up on my doorstep! Very easy to deal with and clearly knew what they were doing. Give them a call and tell them what you need and explain that you know someone that bought the crank in 9/04 so you know that they should have the intake (that is of course unless they have sold it by now but this is unlikely as they had the engine for a while, this is the only reason I was able to convince him to part it out). :bandit:
  13. Well crap! I went looking through my records and could not find what I was looking for. I found a junkyard that was willing to part out one of these motors for me a few months back as all I wanted was the crank so I know that they would have the intake (or at least used to if it hasn't been sold by now). And it would be in good condition as the engine was running prior to them tearing it down for me. If I do happen to come across the name and number for the place I'll let you know but it wasn't in my Z car folder where all my other paperwork and receipts are. Maybe I can dig through my credit card statements and find it!

Agreed!! Go directly to the manufacturer's website for these programs or at least go to cnet.com

We use Zone Alarm at work and it seems to be pretty good (personally I think that this is over kill here as we are behind countless firewalls - I work for IBM); it's mostly used on our laptops and I only turn it on when traveling and using networks I do not know or control (i.e. I don't use it at home but I do in hotels or other companies). If you have DSL or even Cable (i.e. Roadrunner) I would suggest a hardware firewall too. Something like the Linksys or Netgear or other brand broad band routers available as they have a built in firewall and also allow you to share that connection to all the computers in your house (you may need additional equipment depending on how many computers you have and where they are located). Better over protected than under protected!!

Not necessarily, many many sites have this set up when the pages load or on other events. Just go to geocities which I believe uses pop-ups to advertise and generate income for all the free websites they host for people. Yes, these are EXTREMELY hard to get rid of so make sure you protect yourself. There are ways around some of this. I have Kazaa installed on an old slower computer (PII 400) that is used for next to nothing so the pop-ups etc on it do not affect me. Furthermore, I do not leave it running...clicking close or the X does not do it, you must select it from the system tray and choose close from that menu. Next, I have also adjusted the settings so that downloads are not permitted from my system (I think it's called do not share my files). Plus if/when I download something I immediately move it off that computer all together. Yes, this program or any P2P software WILL slow down your internet connection when it's in use. Now I will warn you that Kazaa installs all kinds of crap with it that you can not uninstall otherwise Kazaa will not work either. This is another good reason to install it on an old machine you would otherwise get rid of. Hope people find this thread helpful and full of information.

Don't get Ad-aware 6.0 get Ad-aware SE it's the newest version and catches MUCH more. In addition to Ad-aware you should also go ahead and get Spybot and run it (they catch different programs on your system). As a friendly tip, if you are running something like Kazaa then you should use extreme caution in allowing either of these programs to remove things as there is certain 'spyware' that Kazaa and others like it require to run properly. Catch 22. Also, if pop-up bother you as they do me get a pop-up blocker! You can get one for as little as $20 and it's well worth the investment.

And where would the average Joe find such a product? Also, how toxic is it (how bad are the fumes)? And since the topic of stripping paint has come up... Has anyone used the automotive grade Read Strip product? I saw it on the web somewhere a few months back and can not find a like now but am interested if anyone has used it and what their thoughts are.

I'm planning on doing the same thing to mine when I do my engine work. Can you please tell me more about what you did? How did you strip the old paint? How did you do your prep work? How did you apply the POR15 (bursh or spray)? etc, etc.
