Right you are on both accounts! I have never seen a Z with this item still installed...nor have I even heard of it. Please tell me about it's purpose and the pros/cons of removing it.

No, as stated above the hand throttle connects to the gas peddle inside the car...search for some old posts detailing this out. As for your "extra" part, if you are talking about what I have highlited in the attached pic that is normal and connects to nothing.
  3. I couldn't get this video to work. Anyone have it to share? This one is cool but the quality is REALLY lacking. Does anyone have a better quality copy of this one?

Post a pic of the area you need. Let me know if one from a '75 will work and I'll let you know if I can help.
  5. Just to clarify one thing, the choke handle that Z Babe has a pic of in the post above is from a later model and not the '70-71. Correct?

The orange one appears to be fixable...the blue one is an example of what happens when car meets telephone pole. It is very sad about blue one as stated above it appears to have been very well cared for...hope everyone walked away from this one.

Unfortunately I realized when this thread was started that I will be out of town during this event so I will miss it. :disappoin Those who do make it I'm certain you will have a great time!

I'm curious about this also Ben. 26th-Z, can you please point this aftermarket and replacement riff-raff out to me just in case I come in to a few bucks and want to negotiate with this guy.

From the research I've done the P90 is a great head to use but requires some modification whereas the N42 will yield the same results without any modification. Now this may not be the complete picture with respect to flow, quench, and all other factors; that may have only been with respect to a few of them. Also you are mistaken in your above statement about the casting code for hydraulic vs non-hydraulic lifters. The non-hydraulic lifter head is the P90 and the hydraulic lifter head is the P90a. Thank you Arne, I didn't have the link handy when I posted.

Maybe no mud in the desert but PLENTY of dust!

I think it was partly the price, started at $4500 and had a reserve higher than that even, and partly the lack of good description...this guy does not know what it is he's selling. i.e. look at the title of the auction and you'll notice he has it listed as a '71, then later he says that it's the oldest Z you will ever see on the street...NOT!, then he claims it to be a prototype :stupid: I believe that he scared some people away with the above items. He only lives about 45 minutes from me and I'm REALLY tempted and REALLY REALLY want it but now is a REALLY bad time financially.

We will get rain and some wind this weekend but by Tues. that will all be gone...the Z Fest is NEXT weekend! i.e. there's NOTHING to be concerned about. :cheeky:

You should also read up on Bryan Little's site, Z Garage for some additional information on heads and an L28 build up.

Just a thought on driveability...a white dash will be VERY bright with the AZ sun reflecting off of it...and right there in your line of sight while trying to drive...could be a bit dangerous. Just something to consider.

That is quite interesting, I have production date 8/70 with VIN 8215
  16. I don't know the names...do you have pix or a link to pix?
  17. Just program your VCR.
  18. It seems as though cremmenga is dead set on tearing up the public streets...I see Fast and Furious 3 and he's the star! Not saying that you are a ricer, just making the analogy to your stated driving habbits. You don't think I know about long straight empty highways? Look at my screen name! I can drive 5 hours in any direction and still be in the same state! We have PLENTY of these kinds of roads. We also have tons of winding twisting ones for that type of thrill. All it takes is for one of those farmers to pull out on the road in his '64 Dodge (we all know how slow they drive) and SPLAT! There goes the Z and anyone in it. You said that you have a friend drive a couple miles ahead of you and let you know the road is clear...great now there's two people haulin' arse at 150+MPH AND talking on the phone/radio. Take a look at the trend in everyone's replies here...we only want you and others to be safe and keep this kind of driving on the track. That's all man.
  19. Chris, I'm sorry to say that 150MPH no matter where you live is still VERY fast! And very illegal ANYWHERE in the states (2-3x the speed limit). I've not been that high in any car (over 100 yes) and do not recommend it on any public road. It's just plain stupid and irresponsible. Save that for the track where it's a controlled environment and the only person you are endangering is yourself. I have been rear ended by a guy diing 120MPH and it's not a pleasant experience...I was told that by all rights I should have died in that accident! Please do not get me wrong, I love speed and my Z...I'm working on a 3.1L stroker for mine. I also intend to keep the craziness on the track and not the public roads! Do I speed? Yes. How fast? 10-15MPH over the limit on the highway only...no more; and never do I speed in school zones or neighborhoods. I know that you are still young, I was too. Think about this though, what if your child were killed by someone doing something stupid like going 150+ down a public road? Please be responsible. The Fast and The Furious was ONLY a movie!
  20. I believe that those numbers are at the rear wheel...I think that the 240Z has 170HP at the flywheel IIRC.
  21. Michael, you can also make that old URL to your site a redirect page so it automatically goes to the page's new location; may even put in a 5 second delay with some text telling the user that the page has moved and to make note of the new URL this way everyone, even those who have linked to it from elsewhere and/or bookmarked it will have the updated location. If you need assistance with this just let me know and I'll put together the html for you. And as always thank you for creating this reference!!

That price is quite steep! If anyone here gets it and is willing to share a scan of it in pdf format please let me know as I would be glad to host it on my site along with all the other Scarab info I have.
  24. Interesting, my experience with him was much different...but then again I never had a need to attempt contact. This may be his flaw (communication that is) and I just never came across it since I received my item in 3 days thus no need to ask about it.
  25. Beat me to it! I just saw this preview on my TiVo last night (was watching all the new season previews to see what looks good) and was going to announce this to the group. I'm interested in the catalog that the investigator holds up in the preview...never seen it before (at least that issue) and would like to know what it was. I was impressed to see that they went for the '70 model, the hatch vents were the most obvious indicator. Show premieres next week as noted above...and I'm looking forward to it! If for nothing else to see the Z.
