I supose it's the lack of air and not the temperature for a fuel injected space shuttle. Oops.

Could or is fuel injection used in aviation? Would that allow more altitude without the freezing problems? If I'm looking at the right picture it looks cool as hell but a little over my mechanical and financial abilities. Thanks for the information though. I've read too much on building fuel rails and am over thinking the project. Alot of dicussion about vapor lock from hot fuel so the milled fins came into my plan. Now I realize they're for looks on a car like mine. I'm going to get the smooth "D" rail from Ross Racing and without polishing it, spray with high heat clear coat. It'll stand out a little over my satin black (bar b-q paint) intake.

Zed Head you're a genius! Fins work on hot air cooled engines. Didn't see it that way, thanks. The fuel rail would already be cold not hot, right? I'll be using heat shields too, bought a header with ceramic thermo coat, so it shouldn't get hot. Oh the "Shirley" thing's from Leslie Neilson in the movie Airplane. Corny, I know.

Here's the fuel rail that looks better. http://www.azspeed-marine.com/furaex.html it's finned or milled. Whatever, but also read "Milling fins into any surface will increase the available surface area for heat to dissipate from. Increased air flow across the fins would keep the rail cooler."

Were those coconuts used for the horses' hooves cloping dropped from a swallow? Seems like they were, I was sleepy when I watched that. Do it! I think with a drill press and some drill bits and thread taps it would be easy. Looks like 1/2" on the ends and 1/4" threads for the injectors and cold start. 5/16'' barbs. Thread 2 holes on the bottom for the mounts. I am thinking of mounting my Fuel Pressure Regulator somewhere around the heater hose in & out on the firewall and run the return line from the FPR straight down to the metal line back to the gas tank by the vacuum bottle. Shirley we can do it.

That's the same company I'm looking at on e-bay. They have "scratch & dent" for $5 a foot also. I think I'll listen to Blue's advice and buy the cheaper for a study guide and the good stuff for my finished fuel rail. Thanks for the heads up.

In '85 I was busing tables at The Red Lobster for the summer then back to school. As I was wiping the booth seating I found a wallet between the seat and the back rest, about a 4" crevice, threw it in the bus tub and finished the table up very quickly. Carried the wallet into the restroom and it had 15 hundred dollar bills in it. That was more than my car cost so I knew someone would be back soon. I turned it over to the cashier then she to the manager. 2 days later someone called and claimed it. Didn't even shake my hand because they came in and got and left. I got my picture in The Red Lobster Newsletter though! That was the first time that I had to make that big of a decision, do the right thing or don't, it was the best feeling doing the right thing. The Golden Rule rules.

I always thought this was cool scheme. Saw it on a GTO when I's a kid and it stuck. Maybe I could use Gunmetal Gray stripes with the silver lipped wheels to pick up the chrome around windows. Needs to have 2 stripes. Not sure what color though.

Maybe you could relocate your brother to the storage facility for the winter. You've got a good looking car to finish. Will you do the 2 wide white stipes down the center? I'm trying to decide on a good color for stripes for my car which is #307 lighter blue. Have thought about silver to match Rewind wheels.

Well as bad as I hate to say it, I've had to change my coming out party from not now to when I am over this horrible head cold I woke up with Saturday morning. I was going to try Jeff G's recommendation of the ratchet straps for adjustment. But after seeing a picture of the load leveler I think I've seen one of those in someone's garage (remembering where will be the hard part) that I could borrow. That says it's designed for 1 man engine pull and that's what I am shooting for. If I can't find one I still have the 2" wide yellow ratchet straps already to go. That thing looks like a tool I would love to have and could probably talk my Dad into going in halves with me to buy one. Man I wish we had a Harbor Freight in my city, closet one is Birmingham, couple hours round trip but I could use some windshield time. Thanks for posting that picture.

I've found -6 size aluminium fuel rail stock on e-bay for $10 a foot, 2 feet + shipping $35, and can get the 5/16" x 1/4" male barbs for about $2.50 then the 1/2" size for the 2 ends, couldn't be more than $4 each. Can borrow taps and bits from Pop. $70 dollars or round about and Pallnet guy on Hybridz wants $155 for a great looking fuel rail I think I could make without the fancy lines machined into it. Anybody ever done it? Is it harder than I think? I know I'd have to use that clear sealer instead of teflon tape.

You are more than welcome grantf. That hook threw me at first I thought it hooked under the deck to hold it down but when I realized there was no way to do that and get my hand back out the light bulb in my head started to flicker. You gotta' love these cars.

I sold a '81 911sc Targa back in june and a month or so ago found out it's in Portland, OR through auto auctions. I have no idea how far that is from you BUT look out for a Havana Brown targa top. It would be a great fixer, that's what I always wanted to do but couldn't afford the parts. I sold it for $3200. One rust spot and the battery box was rusty but that's it. But the targa took away from the over all rigidness of the car, didn't handle as well as a hardtop. 13 qts. for an oil change. I wouldn't buy one with a water pump. Clarify that- no front engines. My early '77 is sloped too. My '76 and '78 from earlier years where flat so I thought it was hung on something when I bought it. I'm in the process of taking out my motor so my hatch is full of boxes with parts. It's still dark this a.m but when I'm home later, around lunch, I'll take pictures with up and down. One thing I found was a plastic hook on the end of elastic rope to hook around the driver's side hatch strut to hold the deck up for removing the spare and tools. It has those 2 knobs above the carpet to hold it down. Give me a few hours and I'll have you plenty of pictures. Finally I get to help!
