Started on the restoration of my FJ40 yesterday.
That's a fine damn site compared to the newer ones.

New speakers
Now I know why I got a deal on a new Pioneer head unit, this one sucks. Everything is going to 1 knob, so when I turn the volume up it starts the menu options. I have to use the remote control for now, like my touch screen phone I use the arrow keys to navigate. On the good side it has a sub woofer function that works good without an amplifier, so no alternator upgrade, YET!

Thanks, that sounded kinda bad. I was just poking at a Pilgram.

New speakers
Walmart has them in my local store, to my surprise, their webpage doesn't show them in stock and calls them a different name brand. STILLWATER DESIGNS 11DS40 4 inch 2-Way DS-Series Speakers: Auto Electronics : Walmart.com

The sound is great from those little things, I highly recommend them (FAIW ). From all I've read I decided I would get that 6x9 rear box from MSA, $149, or try and copy it myself. I think that would be enough for me right now, I'm about deaf from this life I live.

Rewinds on Mine
Great looking car too. I ended up getting 205/55-16s after reading that was the most tire our cars would fit without rubbing or scrubbing, and they don't on either car but I'll end up with 15" wheels on my 240.

That's a good looking car you have there. I don't think I've ever seen one like that, it's kinda like mine but reversed, I've got Persimmons Red with white interior and a white rocker stripe. It came with slots like yours too and I still am grinning when I see the Rewinds on there.

Nope, that's it so far, but I do have a pair of Sony 10" X-plode subs I had in a 325is. I like the room more than I like the "Boom" for now. I got lucky too wiring theses in. I found a thread of yours about those little speakers and was expecting to have to run the wire for the drivers side but when I got the panels off there was two disenergrated 4" Alpines, but the wires were fine.

I bought these at Walmart and a 10 pack of rivets from Nissan. Fit perfect below the quarter window in the 280 and sound fantastic, all for $40. Amazon.com: Kicker 11ds40 4 Coaxil Speaker Pair Rohs Compl: Car Electronics- Rolled 300,00 on odometer of '87 Hardbody
The times I've had in this one! Most embarrassing thing was pumping in a few gallons of gas then going inside to pay and coming back out and it was gone. Panicked and thought someone had driven of in it then started hearing horns blow. It had rolled out in the middle of a four lane highway. Always use the parking brake with stick shifts. I bought it from a friend of my Dad's that couldn't figure out what was wrong so he bought a new Frontier. The plug in the hole in the clutch pedal that depresses the safety switch had dry rotted out and I wrapped some duct tape around it, hooked up jumper cables and started it then drove it home. $400 ten years ago.- Just bought a 280Z, engine will not run properly. Help!
AFM covers have clear silicone holding them from the factory, take it off and make sure the wiper and weight are moving freely. You really should check the fuel pressure as soon as you can. It'll save you money in the long run. Your TPS could be out of adjustment too. You should clean all the electrical connections associated with the EFI system, http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electricalconnections/index.html. - I went to see Dboss for a dent on my 1971 240Z nose here are before and after picture
Down here in the South we call them "Dent Doctors" and they get paid like doctors but what they do, like a doctor, is truly amazing. Their businesses are always around car auctions and they usually travel to car dealerships once a week. That would be a great career for a young man that's into cars.- Rewinds on Mine
Looking at that picture I see that the struts hadn't settled down yet. Looks much better this morning. Thank you all for the positive replies, I really like these wheels. I'll do a e-bay Feedback for Discount Tire, 5 stars and an A+. I'm thinking I may get 15" for the 240 as the 16"s look a little large, but man do they stick good!- Rewinds on Mine
- Engine whine
If it's coming from the front of the motor I think you're on the right track. Do you have A/C? You could also pull the cam cover and check the tightness of the timing chain. Good luck!- Rewinds on Mine
Finally got them. Perfect, not even a fingerprint on them, great deal with Discount Tire. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.- Mr k
Wow! I would've never known he was the man with that Jack Russell on those commercials - Thanks, again! Go fry a kite- Exhaust Heat in Trunk
My 2.5 exhaust from MSA is reversed from yours, offset in and center hole for tailpipe. It's tilted towards the gas tank and almost touches it but doesn't get too hot. I worried about that at first and was constantly checking it, didn't want all my work exploding. It's on a 280 though and the tanks are different but you might look and see a way to flip it. When I did mine a lot of people did it the same way, I asked because it could've gone either way. Here's a resonator I was going to get but I like loud. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-24215/ Read post #10 from Arne, he's the reason I put mine on that way. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/exhaust-s30/32026-msa-muffler.html- Trans and diff gear oil
That was my 280. It has the R200 which is bigger than your 240's R180. Fill it until it starts to come out the hole, if I recall correctly. Amazon.com has it the cheapest too- Poor Fitting After-market Parts
I had the same problem with ones off e-bay. Went to my local motorcycle shop and bought those metal bands that tighten with a small tool like an old tuna can opener. They are made for a four wheeler's accordion boots and worked out great for me. - New speakers
