  9. That's the #1 personality trait that I look for, a sense of humor, as I'm a goof-ball myself. I'm 45 and have never been married.

Go to an auto parts store and get a loaner vacuum gauge. I put one on mine yesterday, new to me car, and it pulled 17 hg at idle after replacing all the rotted lines.

If it goes away when you push in the clutch it's the throw out bearing. I agree with above, do it all and don't worry again.

That picture of the hole in your block brings back memories of mine. In '89 a girl I was dating drove my '76 Z. She said "it just quit", I thought the starter was locked up because it would click and that's it. Me and my Dad went to tow it home. He got down to look under the car for a tow hook and said "well there's your problem". There was a rod laying on the ground and a baseball size hole just like your picture.
  13. I've seen that stuff on amazon.com, maybe that's the way I go. Thanks and do you remember the thread title of that car you did? It's been a couple of years and I'd like to see those pictures. Ha! found it already, http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/body-paint-s30/44008-insulating-cabin.html. I put my pointer on a picture held down the "S" key and right clicked. Love that Google Chrome.
  14. Thank you Steve but I'm talking about the sound deadening pad. My 280's are perfect but this new 240's crumbled to pieces when I touched them so I ended up scraping then vacuuming the mess out. Found a complete mouse skeleton under there when I took the seats out. Turned the A/C on and half of a snakes skin came out of the vents in pieces. I bought an ecosystem that'll do a 100 MPH. Don't you love livin' in the South!
  15. I meant to say that I'm not suggesting that you change your fluids to Red Line but you'll get a lot of information from that link on what you're asking. And the pictures are nice too, kind of gets you prepared for what you're about to do. Have fun.

  18. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/mtl/index.html I bought my Red Line from amazon.com Save this link, Tech Tips, you'll use it. Thanks again Blue!

I recently bought a '72 that didn't want to run. After loosening the intake valves to spec and replacing the fuel filter it fired right up.
  22. Will Igor be there?
  23. Yes, great looking family heirloom. It has flat topped carburetors from '73 like Leon says above but the ID plate on the driver's door jamb will say for sure. Unscrew the black knobs on top and make sure they have oil in there. I just bought some at Lowes, 3-in-one 20 wt. in a blue and white bottle for $2.99.
  24. 3-in-one in the blue and white bottle is what I just used, after searching the archives. The outside temperature matters, from all that I read.
  25. I thought his avatar was that guy on the Dos Equis commercials. I need to watch more TV. :stupid:
