That looks similar to the crud around my EGR failure. It was a huge vacuum leak.

Thinking about installing an BMW M6 engine in my Z
So you'll pull the L28 and put in the M6 motor? What's the gain in HP? Why not find an old 2002 BMW for the motor? If you're like me, I'm going to have to spend $10,000 adding on to my garage or get rid of a car. At this point in my life I'll be selling a car, I'm getting old. I hate to see cars sitting outside.

Help with a fair price
Thanks Blue, it'd make it too. I've never had the air box off apparently, he had a zip-tie keeping the hard fuel line from pinching between the float chamber and nozzle. It also held the nozzle up and tightly at that. Runs a little better now. Maybe I'll piddle with it some more, put the polished slots against the white trim and ask $7, wiggle room aplenty. I need one of those bubble boy carports. I'm outta space. I scratched it the other day getting my mowerer out.

No, no! I'd like to keep that close to my chest. Plus I've given it a nice dry life in my garage, that's worth thousands. No, actually I was thinking of parking it in front of our restaurant for Talladega traffic Sunday but after fooling with it this morning I think I could spend more time with it and get my money back for just the car. We'll see. The crawfish boil was okay fun but a bunch of peanut butter licking dogs if you know what I mean.

Help with a fair price
I've pretty much decided to thin my small herd a little thinner, I've got 5 cars and a 3 car garage. I bought it a few years ago from a guy who needed money so he sold his 240 project. Car is all original now and runs good. He had an F54 short block and an E31 head, triple Weber 40s and a Tilton aluminum flywheel bought for his build that never happened. I'm keeping all that stuff and selling the car as is, original motor and rust with a worn out suspension. It's had a respray that is "orange peeling", they say it's a 10 foot paint job, inside 10 feet it don't look so good. Here's some pictures to look at. What should I ask? I was thinking $5,000. Here's the guys photobucket with the rust pictures. http://s813.photobucket.com/user/dskul1/library/?sort=3&page=1

Here's one that needs your welding skills (sunroof) in New York. It's number 663. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-Base/141651739292?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D1324ef1f4ee3417789db18f05910b82b%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D141651739292

Ball bearings stuck on distributor stator
It's a yearly fundraiser for our local Humane Society at the airport. Classic cars, coolers with your favorite beverages and girlies with dogs (my two favorites). Big fun and for a good cause. Pilots like the Zs.

Ball bearings stuck on distributor stator
That's hilarious!!! Thank you Zed Head. I'll disconnect the vacuum advance until I get a new one. Gonna take the 280 to a crawfish boil Saturday.

Ball bearings stuck on distributor stator
3 ball bearings I've found so far. It's a junkyard ZX E12-80. Should I drive it until I get a remanufactured one? Thanks, Cliff

Questions about replacing a freeze plug
On both my 72s the plug is on the drivers side at the rear below the #6 cylinder. I took mine out after draining the rad and a $^!# load came out.

Not a Z but a Datsun
Best baby sitter my Dad ever had, Honda 70 Trail Bike with the gas tank under the seat. I left after breakfast, came home for lunch and a fill up then back home at dark. Not something to do now days, but back in the '70s; Oh Boy! I've looked at getting another one for the memories but like you said they're high now. Pit Bikes.

That soda blasting works great on the aluminium. Messy as hell but it'll all blow away with just the air gun. It'll make paint disappear too. Give it a try but make sure your air compressor doesn't have any moisture. A way to reduce the amount of soda be sucked up is to put a small nut into the pickup end of the tubing, a little less mess. Here's some carbs I did with the same DIY setup as Chris mentioned above. Here's some furniture I did for my Mom. The round table had 2 coats of paint, the smaller telephone table to the left had about 5 coats, it's OLD. It just disappears without tearing up the wood.

I'm jealous, that sounds like a great trip. Fire extinguisher? Some fuel line and clamps? Have fun and be safe. Cliff
