Throw a bow and some arrows in the hatch! Burt R. driving a Z. Might have to paint a screamin chicken on the hood like the Bandits TA. Da duh ling ling ling ling
  2. My '77 280 has the access cover with the o ring in the hatch, drops in from the top unlike my 240 which goes into the side of the tank. If her o ring has deteriorated it would smell of fuel inside the cabin. Good thought though as those o rings to go bad. I'm curious about the connections at the pump, more so of the high pressure out going hose, as mentioned earlier. If someone put a G3 filter on there a few months ago it could be there too. She needs to have extra set of eyes looking while it's under pressure, a camera would work, in my opinion. Good luck Jai.
  3. Do the tank drains have a copper washer like the oil pan? Could be too tight or not tight enough, like the oil plugs do. Just a thought not knowing where it's coming from.

That's funny, ruined Ned Beatty image though. That's all I think about when I see him, trying to crawl away in his fruit-of-looms. Meth heads suffer from IE, I'd think, so sticking a tootsie roll into a key hole would tough.

What year do you think it is? I love playing with that google street view, it's a pretty darn close picture. I have read they ride around in a van with a 360 degree camera, constantly making pictures, every street. Also looks like a D21 Nissan pickup behind the Z, great little trucks. Mine has over 300,000 miles on it, gas and oil mostly. Had to have a new fuel pump a few years ago, unbolted the bed and bottle jacked the front enough to get to it, easy job.
  7. This is very true. My Rewinds self center when I tighten them down. The slots do not. You must have that heavy washer before the lug. The holes aren't angled in any way and I must put all four on and tighten them in increments to get them hem centered. And the center caps aren't worth a crap, they just pop on and aren't secured by the lugs. I have duct tape on back of at least two for a tight fit. The plastic tangs break off.
  8. I have many different colors on my 918 colored car, my avatar. Black spoilers to match the rocker stripes, gunmetal wheels match the rear finisher. Msa has some satin. black rewinds I wish I had but they didn't have them when I bought my gunmetals, damn it!!! I would buy them but recently quit the easiest job I've ever had. Never work for friends or family, they get the I'm smarter than you or you wouldn't be working here for me, I would be working for you. Which is true but don't throw that in my face more than once asshole. Rant over, thanks!

Those voices have changed my life around! Wouldn't have it any other way. I'm going to build an addition on my garage this spring.
  10. I just googled that "urgelis" and there were negative ebay buyers from '04. What a douchebag with that kind of username, probably has a personalized tag on his car that says the same. Is that a narcissist or what!
  11. That's too funny, we're jealous of that guy. What a joke, should be URNOTBUYINGFROMME
  12. A girlfriend? LOL! Couldn't resist, I'm sorry. 8 (

I've got another oil pan gasket and am just looking for a reason to repaint the pan black, you've tipped the scale for me! They are supposed to be black, right? Thanks Captain. Oh yeah, that plastic tool wasn't stout enough to go all the way down. I had to drive it down with 10" socket extension then pull it out with needle nose vise- grips. It's flimsy as hell and the new timing kit is super tight. After running the motor I'm sure it will loosen up somewhat.

When my timing chain's shiny link wasn't on #2 where I installed it I went a little nuts and pulled the front cover to re-install the chain. Acted too fast as I learned from Zed Head. The links are for initial setup and only line up every so many revolutions, did not know that! So when I put the cover back on, during "Happy Hour", I tore the head gasket causing a slight leak. Pulled the head and put a new gasket on, I had my machinist check the flatness first just to be sure as I hadn't done that previously. The first lesson of the day was these timing chain tensioner tools aren't worth a crap on a new tight chain, it did the job but just barely. I'll use it as a guide to make one from oak or some other hardwood. Then I decided this oil pan gasket doesn't look too good. Does anybody elses stick out like this? It's a Nissan gasket, bolts are nice and tight done gradually to allow for the squashing they do. Then I decided to clean my spray bar a little bit better and remembered how we used to paint staircase spindles by dipping them down into a section of capped PVC pipe. So I made this contraption and filled it with lacquer thinner, it's soaking still and I will clean it this afternoon when it warms up outside. Any opinions would be appreciated. Cliff
  15. Drove the 280 and found this cup washer and nut in my driveway when I got back home. Luckily the bushing hadn't fallen off yet, it was really close though, got lucky! I'll put it back on with some red Loctite then do the other side as well just to be sure.

@Z train, @grantf, too. Great guys, Grant was getting married and rode motorcycles in the Seattle area. Really hope he's okay, motors are dangerous now more than ever thanks to the damn "smartphone". EDIT: Idiots using "smartphones" while driving. I love my "smartphone"

I talked with him over the phone about a month ago. He has some home projects going on, or he did. Knowing him they are finished and he has documented the work he did. It was getting cold and he needed to get the work done before the ground froze.

Where has Fastwoman been? She was a deep well of information like Blue, I miss them both. They left a huge footprint on this forum, we'll just have to use the search function a lot more. I hope they are okay and doing well.
  19. I've got the opposite of you Bart, 3 originals and 1 made later. You have to really look to tell the difference though, it's the shape of the scallops that are different. Another thing I think is important is that the 3 early ones have the washer pressed onto the lugs, unable to fall off and get lost when they're off the car. The newer one has the lugs and washer separate. If you lived closer we could do some swapping around and each have a complete set.

Another thing to check, close the choke knobs and make sure the nozzles are all the way up. They're on the bottom of the main carb body. If I leave my chokes on when not running the nozzles stay down and gas puddles up in the bodies stinking the garage up. Could be sticking from the old fuel.

It's the one with the hose that connects to the air filter.

Stick the red straw off a wd40 can down the overflow bung on the float chambers.
  23. Hey Jarvo, did you use another rubber steering coupler or poly? I've got the poly one on my 280 and I can feel every ant I run over, so I went with rubber on the 240 hoping for a little more cushioning before the steering wheel. I still have the motor out so your opinion might change my mind. Thanks!
  24. I knew something was wrong when my pedal was rock hard. My 72 year old Mom knew something was wrong when they were hard also. LMAO

They're a little further down than I remembered but you'll get the idea.
