72 240Z TRANSMISSION INSULATOR MOUNTS
I used the one from Nissan dealership on my '72 works fine. Vin.# 69, 972 I think. Part number is 11320-E4100 though. This was bought about 4 years ago for $65. I am looking at the receipt. It was superseded by 11320-N3000 I just read. https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-insulator-mount~11320-e4100.html

Cleaning Engine Water Jacket Bad Corrosion
The back of the block builds up worse than the front from what I've seen, calcium mostly. I had to pick and chisel that stuff out. Never thought about @grannyknot idea of using CLR soak. I would remove the plugs knowing how easy it is, the side ones not the ones on the front and rear. They are cheap too, $15.00 for a set of brass plugs from amazon.com if I remember right. I had the the two on the ends done when I had my block vatted at a machine shop. They are too close to the cylinder wall for me to mess with.

Are you gonna put that Fidenza in the glove box of a new Koenigsegg?

Cleaning Engine Water Jacket Bad Corrosion
When you pull the motor you can take it to a spray type car wash if you don't have a pressure washer. A couple of cans of cheap walmart oven cleaner will clean the block and transmission of the oily sludge stuff before you work on it. You can set the motor on an old tire to keep from denting the oil pan. Separating the transmission will be easier too. Those rubber plugs at a hardware store work good on the transmission. I think it's a 2"?

Z's on BAT and other places collection
Boy am I kicking myself in the arse after selling the #110 '72 for $6,000. White interior too. It had some rust but overall a solid original. Dang, dang, dang! The timing was bad in my direction, after I sold it they started climbing in price. Day late and many dollars short. I sleep good though, car karma. He got a fair deal and my life hasn't been too bad since.

1974 260z timing issue
I'm remembering the ocd things I did to get tdc. With the 1st and 2nd cam lobes kind of bunny eared or the smaller ends up, I used a feeler gauge on the 1st and 2nd rocker lash pads and the cam lobes to get the same gap (thickness/thinness). When they were equal to each other that was TDC. Smarter people correct me please but that's what I rember.

1974 260z timing issue
I think you have the cam sprocket on wrong somehow. There's a couple of things that aren't right. The small dot shouldn't be above the TDC window. Looking at a sprocket I have the V notch isn't in the same spot as the dots on the front side. I'm sorry if I confuse but that's what I'm seeing. Good luck, I'm gonna hush up now.

1974 260z timing issue
I just noticed something. Your cam sprocket "window" should show the top bolt of the thrust plate. Your's needs to be farther clockwise I think. The bolt is not visible in the photo you posted.

1974 260z timing issue
The thrust plate has a small indented line, about 1/4" long. the cam sprocket has 3 V shaped cuts on the backside for the 3 timing chain adjustments. the line should be a frog hair to the left of the V for proper chain tightness. This is also another indicator of TDC. hope this helps.

Things I'm growing tired of.
This just proves how great a group of friends I have. You are the best and I won't ever forget the kindness I've been shown over the years. Always in debt to this group. I try, all though unsuccessful many times over, and over, to help but I will be here every day. You all are the best, wrenches down. Cliff

Things I'm growing tired of.
Hey I have to apologize to you guys. I had a little break down here, y'all are my friends and I needed to talk. My Mom's sister passed away Saturday night from complications of covid-19. Thank you all for unknowingly helping me. I really appreciate it. Cliff

Love that band! He was a tortured soul as with many musicians. I'll always remember the Cure for Pain disc I played over and over as I went through a break up. This off Yes though but still...damn.

.01 Ring with Standard Piston
I too felt the same on compression testing when I rebuilt 2 motors. Never checked them to this day. Cars run great. Some things I don't need to know.

Lightweight Flywheels?
Yep, a good machinest can lighten it locally. $50-$100 with your flywheel? Having the pressure plate attached and balanced is a good choice for not much $$$. Also having them press the throwout bearing onto the collar. I don't understand a 240mm clutch on a 225mm flywheel? I read a 610 or 910 maxima flywheel will work on our cars, 17lbs. if you can find one.

Things I'm growing tired of.
I smoked from the early '80s until New Years morning 2007 at about 9am. I quit a lot of stuff then. We have the high cdb, low thc legal here now but its BS in my opinion. I prefer pharmacies for my drugs now. They say Alabama is about to start a 2oz or lower fine, up to $250. Pot grows like crazy down here in our climate so dispensary weed would never work. I'd be affraid to smoke again it makes me hyper. My doctor says I have ptsd from a closed head trauma and stimulates relax me where weed stimulates me. Crazy! I'll figure it out after I drink a little more. I'm still fairly young and smart enough to drink at home.

Things I'm growing tired of.
Morphine is as close as I've gotten to jazz. And I like Yohoos a lot but they're full of chemicals. I just need to quit watching television and thought some others might have noticed the uptick in Shaq appearance. He's everywhere! Jeez, take your money and go away please. Add info edit: I'm done in the restaurant business so I've got a lot of screen time now. Maybe I should off started with that?

Things I'm growing tired of.
Shaquille O'neal. He's on my television all the time. Commercials. Always a nuisance but now with Safer at Home they've doubled. Streaming also affects this last money grab in my opinion. The Royal Family. No comment! is all I want to hear from those poor family members. Craig Robinson, Snoop Dog, Matthew McConaughey, Tim Allen, those damn Kardashians-Jenners, Dr Pimple Popper just showing up on my menu screen, and so many more but I hate to bore my friends. Safer at home hasn't worked like I anticipated, spending time with your loved ones, fixing your cars and house. Thank goodness for alcohol. Maybe Shaq could do that commercial?

1974 260z timing issue
I think maybe that's the thrust plate that locks the cam down. Here's a better shot of the marks you should see.
-
1974 260z timing issue
It looks weird too. Your cam should be showing through that window on the sprocket and I can't figure out what you have with that slanted line?

Lightweight Flywheels?
I have a Tilton aluminum flywheel, it's 11 or 13 lbs can't really remember but I did have it resurfaced so maybe it's 11? Anyway I run the $100 Exedy clutch from amazon.com with great results. Stock motor with better exhaust and it it's a fun car to drive. Getting out of my driveway is the hardest part but once I'm out I am used to the difference so no stalling. If I remember right the high performance pressure plates are heavier, giving more clamping force, so that would negate the lighter flywheel in my head.

Fuel Pump Check Valve
I remember her getting one off e-bay that I thought was a good work around? I see now that was in 2011 so if she got one from you 5 years ago apparently it didn't work as well as she hoped. Oh well...
