  1. That might be something too, valves need adjusting?
  2. Is it this one? OZDAT.com Engine Design Utility I couldn't open your zip without downloading something.
  3. Sounds like your alternator is bad or the belt is loose. Or it could be a bad battery. Put a volt meter on the battery terminals while it's running, mine reads 14 volts at least. You can also see if a screwdriver will stick to the rear round center of the alternator, like a magnet, while it's running. Or something isn't grounded too good.

That's a heck of a lope, sounds great!

    Time for a hard drive.
  6. Could his fuel pump be overheating? Maybe clean and re tighten the terminals.
  7. You could use a reducer like these, R & M Distribution - EEXD Brass Reducers. They're at my Lowes building supply locally.
  8. Wrong, wrong wrong, it was my bedtime! That cover is under the spare tire tool kit. You'll lift out the fuel gauge sending unit, about a foot deep.
  9. Got excited and busted a sleeve. Luckily it was going to be a spare that I'd move around the rest of my life, lemonade? The Chevy orange is the newer one. That'll have to be vatted off.
  10. Gas tank's not all that bad, thanks to Blue again. Z Tech Tips Ball and Socket Compression Rod (AtlanticZ.ca) Uh Oh! It says ball and socket but it's the tank renewal. Take the sending unit cover off, under the spare tire, and see how cruddy the tank is, 1st!

Yes it was a heap big box! $166.99 to my front door.
  12. It ran good for awhile when you replaced the fuel filter? Sounds like you've got a messy gas tank. I would put a filter between the tank and the fuel pump and get another metal fuel filter up front. Keep an eye on the clear one at the tank to see how quick it dirties up. Blue has this write up on how to do it, Z Car Tech Tips Fram G3 Filter Installation

I got a Xenon from Jegs for my 280. Urethane and bendable. I really like mine and that's the cheapest I found, MSA is $220. Here's the 240 one, Xenon 3124 - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS Here's the same one at MSA, Motorsport! Urethane Air Dam, With Brake Cooling Ducts, 70-8/74 240Z-260Z - The Z Store! 14. Here's a picture of it, I never can get one on a PM.
  15. Most of my adventures start with those words and end with "Mom I'm OK but you need to come to emergency room". It's easier asking for forgiveness than permission.
  16. I hooked a Dremmel to a motorcycle odometer once. It started clicking them off pretty good so I went upstairs to get a beer or something. Came back and the gauge was full of smoke, the plastic bits had melted. $200 for a used gauge cluster that had 2,000 less miles than mine.
  17. The people at Nissan realized the big 'ole exhaust manifold wasn't too good an idea. This is stock on a '82 ZX. A whole lot less heat holding cast iron! Oh yeah. I've got a ZX fuel injector fan somebody can have. The twice pipes that go over the valve cover is missing, fan and bracket only. Free, if someone wants to pay shipping. It works off my battery charger.
  18. Have you tried this Craigslist search engine, SearchTempest Online Classifieds Search - All the Classifieds. One Search..

Fastwoman and ZedHead, a question. I'm thinking of puttting flat top pistons under my N42 fuel injected head. With the potentiometer's adjustable air/fuel ratio benefits do you think it would run ok? I've got triple Webers but I like FI way better and have a good system, it's all new.

If you do decide to do the potiometer route a volume knob at Radio Shack is pretty much what I got. Here it is, 10K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer : Potentiometers | RadioShack.com. You put the bullet connectors on then plug it in between the original bullet connection on top of the intake. I ran mine inside the car so I could play with while driving. It worked wonders without doing any kind of damage to the existing wiring for less than $5. If it didn't help I could just unplug it and plug the old wires back together. That was for testing, now I want 1 like Fastwoman has that goes under the dash with the ecu. Her's is a lot more precise.

There's a small cone shaped filter in the "IN" port of the Bosch pumps. It could be clogged.
  22. Have you taken the water temp sending unit out of the thermostat housing and sanded it down to shiny brass? That will help. Also cleaning the wire connector and maybe squeezing it together to make a tighter fit. Then dialectic grease.
  23. I'm taking apart a '82 ZX motor and transmission. When I separated the transmission from the block I didn't close pay attention I guess but when I flipped the block to get the pistons these brackets were there. My 280 or 240 doesn't have them. Are they for 2+2s only or do all ZXs have these? I'll try to use them if I can. Thanks for any replies.

Stumbling and bucking were the same words I used to describe my problem. Found out it was the coolant temp sensor needed the potentiometer installed. $5 worth of parts from Radio Shack. Mine stumbled and bucked until about 4,000 RPM then pulled like a tractor. Now it pulls hard all through the RPMs.
  25. Here's the Aisin web-site's info on the WPN-013. Aisin Aftermarket Parts Catalog.
