Hey Ed Yes, this is BRILLIANT information, thanks for the reply. Mine are stamped the same and initially I thought that they wernt original. I then got into rebuilding the transmission and was interested to discover that the bolts that secure the casings together have the same stampings. Initially I was a little sceptical but checked out three other trannies and the bolts were all marked the same. OK, next question is where are the bolts and where are the studs/nuts? Thanks again for the reply and the info. Regards Joseph

Hey All This thread ties in to a thread I started a while back regarding the correct mounting for the manifolds...I got NO replies. Could someone that has the original bolts in a 70/71 240z intake manifold on the upper attachment points please let me know the head stampings on them. I am trying to ascertain whether the bolts I have in there are correct or not (I know for a fact a few have been changed). Thanks Joseph

The auction is for an Austrian catalog, not an Aussie one. (Aussie = Australia). Joseph
  4. Hey Mr C Personal thanks for posting the pics for me as requested. They basically confirm my understanding of the areas in question apart from the starter motor wiring, this looks like it may have been changed at some stage (yellow clip doesnt look right). Thanks again, this info is helpful. Regards Joseph
  5. Hello In my ever-increasing frustrations to restore my car to as original condition as I can possible get it I am currently going through the engine bay wiring admiring all of the chopped off wires and aftermarket connectors (seriously, its not all that bad). Id like to ask if it would be possible to supply photographs of the following areas: 1. Wiring at the starter motor. 2. Wiring from the main engine harness to the starter motor. 3. Rear of alternator. 4. Wiring from the main engine harness to the alternator. 5. Wiring from the engine harness to the oil pressure switch. 6. Connection onto the oil pressure switch. Please note I am after original/correct details in each case. If you think you can help out with any or all photos of the areas requested please post replies to this forum thread or PM me off list and we will work out how you can send them through. Thanks for any help. Regards Joseph

Hey All I have a complete tool kit that came standard with the 260z model complete in the bag with the checklist printed in both english and japanese markings to describe the tools. If you would like I will arrange a scan of the checklist and post it to the site. The 240z came with the standard wheel changing necessities as the tool kit whereas the 260z had screw drivers, pliers, spanners etc. Regards Joseph

This part number is showing in the nismoparts.com database as shipping in 4-10 business days. The new part number is B5230-E4185 Relay Type K24 which superceedes the p/n you have posted. Try this and let us know how you get on. Regards Joseph

Apart from studying cars that have been restored by knowledgable people, no, none that I know of. The brake vac decal can be seen in a thread recently started by Kats regarding manufacturers names for the z car. Regards Joseph

Wick Humble manages to pull this operation off in his book/resto with what he describes as "repeated maskings". When is Wick going to sign up on this message board ;> Does anyone know a source for these decals? Joseph
  11. To Kats Thi is the information on RHD VIN#004 as posted by the owner/previous owner on Carl Beck's website in the register section: VIN: HS30 0004 Comp. Date: 04/70 Color Body /Int : Red / Black Orig.Eng.Number: L24 003605 (01/70) Owner: XXXXXXXXXXX City/State/Cntry: Australia Regards Joseph
  12. To HKSZ FWIW, my car is a 1971 model and it also doesnt have the ADR compliance plates fitted. I think in the early days there fitment was a little fickle, especially on a state-by-state basis. My car was initially sold new in Tassie...no further comment ;> Regards Joseph
  13. HS I think we are talking different things here, and I apologies for that. I am talking about the first car bought into Australia, not the first, or earliest RHD car made. I was under the belief that 004 RHD made it to Australia in 1970 and was the roadtest car used by Aussie scribes at the time. Mr C reports that 003 RHD made it to Australia in 1971. Sure it MAY have been made first, Im not discounting that...buy 004 was here BEFORE 003. BTW, Aussie cars DID NOT!!!! get the door data tags. Joseph
  14. Mr C OK well this makes a big difference. Looks like RHD#003 was a Japanese home market car and it was privately imported into Australia at a later date. Looks like RHD#004 is still the earliest car into Australia that was destined specifically for this market. Do you blame me for being sceptical!! Joseph
  15. Mr C Do you have anything to back up the reported RHD car number 003. I (and many others) thought that RHD #004 was the first bought into Australia in 1970. This is interesting. Is there any pics of the car anywhere?? Thanks for any reply Joseph
  16. Selling price was straight from the horses mouth so to speak!
  17. Sorry, this is just one of my pet peeves. Are you sure we are talking the same #004? The number 4 I am thinking about was restored to factory (or better) condition baci in the late 80's and was reportedly sold around 2001 for AUS$35k!! It simply didnt need anything but a nice warm spot to park. Joseph
  18. Who now owns 004? Members on this list have been trying to find its whereabouts for some time now? Regards Joseph
  19. Datto-Zed Have you seen the prices these t's are going for on ebay?? Ballpark AUS$50! Joseph
  20. Total BS mate! If it was a LHD car it would be a 69. Note that RHD VIN#004 was a 70 model; how the heck could yours be a 69.
  21. Do you have documentation to back up your claim of the 1969 status of this car.

Hey Kats Thanks for the information re keeping the newly cleaned parts shiny. The hose clamps you have on the hoses that run over the top of the carb chambers are interesting, are these original or have you just installed them for looks? Regards Joseph
  23. Hey All Im currently going over the engine bay trying to get it back to as original as possible. In my quest I have noticed that the inlet and exhaust manifolds have been removed before and reattached with incorrect type bolts. Close inspection revealed what I think to be an original bolt remaining in the forward most hole under the thermostat housing. This bolt is a Nissan spec bolt, the head is stamped with a 4 and it has a single lock washer and a single, oversize plain washer. I am yet to remove it so dont know if the washers are integral with the bolts. I thought that "7" spec bolts would be more appropriate for this application, but the car is an early car (believed 09/71, Australian spec, A type tranny etc), so I thought that maybe the early cars had the "4" spec bolt whereas the later cars had the "7" spec bolt. Is anyone able to fill me in on what is correct? Would anyone have a Nissan part number available for the bolts and washers etc? Id also like to know how many bolts I need and how many studs I need and the location of each as the parts book seems to be a little confusing in this regard. Thanks for any help. Regards Joseph

Are they rubber or are they plastic? The ebay auction mentioned above refers to them as rubber in the title but they look plastic to me. Mine seem to be hard which would indicate plastic. I suppose it could indicate extremely weathered rubber. Joseph

Kats How do you get the clamps to maintain their appearance after cleaning them with a wire type brush? Every nut and bolt that I clean up with a brush is tarnished a few days later! Regards Joseph
