Looks like an early 240 with a late 280z hood. Be sure and post up the VIN when you look at it. Check for the data plates and the vin on the dash and the firewall. Check the usual rust areas for signs of patches or filler. Looks to be freshly painted
  2. How did the car do? I can't tell from the website

If you shoot starting fluid into will it keep running? or you could add a fuel pressure gauge into the fuel line and see if the pressure is dropping off

Chase what ignition are you running? Points, Pertronix, 280zx, MSD? A voltmeter while idling will tell you if the 13volts at idle is really 13 volts. Hard to check at speed

I totally understand. It's easy to stripe a metallic color when you paint it disassembled or have adjacent panels be different colors. I think it's the right choice to paint it assembled. Watch some you tube videos on taping cars. 3m also make a backer rod type product that is intended for use to help make soft egdes

You have to be a very good painter to paint a metallic disassembled. I thought I would paint my car like this Mark, but since it's a solid color, I plan on painting it in pieces. The hardest challenge when painting all assembled is learning the right way to tape up the edges and gaps for soft edges and not too much overspray inside the gaps

Is there a way to reverse engineer another Grose jet into our SU's?
  11. Also the valves could be rotating between adjustments. If the seats are inconsistent then your lash would change based on orientation
  12. Yeah, that could be smoother
  13. I have done some tuning on those years of GM vehicles. They have the ability to adjust the fuel base on the values in the fuel map and O2 input but it's limited. You will need to data log and adjust from there. Be careful and dont spool it up until you get the fueling closer.
  14. Multi meter should be able to handle the diagnosis
  15. Will be interesting to see how it does

I need one of those senior stickers for my truck. Maybe it would keep people off my back bumper!
  17. I have 2 turbo engines in the shop but when given the choice I would go NA over installing one of the turbo motors I have. It's just simpler and much more forgiving. If I build the other Z in the driveway, providing I live long enough, we might go turbo in that. If it stays broken all the time I will still have another Z to drive
  18. Could it be loss of ground? He has power at the coil but it's an efi car. Does the starter spin the engine? ie Turnover? Does it fire at all when it spins? Will it fire if you shoot starter fluid into it?
  19. I'm with Jonathon. I like the ARP studs but I have reused bolts in the past and have never broken one. I believe, possibly in error, that if they survive the torquing down then they should be good to go.
  20. Is this a self learning system or do you need to program it? If it's not self learning then I wouldn't mess with the fuel pump unless I was sure it's starving for fuel
  21. Where did the flange and down pipe material come from? I like your TIG welds too!
  22. Courtesy Nissan shows out of stock, ships in 2-4 business days $44.43

If the one shock with the welded stud is inoperable. Grind the bracket off and grind the metal away until the only the stud is left.
  24. That's quite the softball you're throwing for Cliff!
