Halz It would be scary if 103476 turned up in Oz as a matallic green. Just reinforces the more the merrier production line of the japanese. Would not be a problem if they had Henry Ford's attititude in the 20's of you can have any colour as long as it is black! :classic: biker

  8. Have you checked the firing order on the dizzy and that the firing order is runing anti clockwise. firing order is 153624. I have seen a dizzy put in 180 deg out even though it looks if it will not fit. biker

Hi G260 Thanks for all the info. The tread pattern on the ones I was talking about don't seem to match anything in the Falken catalogue. The shop that I was talking to (highly respected in race industry) said that they are better than the Yoki A032 as they heat up in seconds, not a lap. He said they would be great from hillclimbs and sprints where you don't get a warm up. I am going to have to go back there and find out what they are but they were sitting amongst the slick tyres (Slicks aren't in the Falken catlaogue either:cry: Biker

Unfortunately I forgot to get the code and not sure if they are GR8's but they are a street legal tyre with minimum tread but using a much softer compound than the Yoki A032. They cost around $195 each which is cheaper than the Yoki. Biker
  11. Richard I was going to move up to a 24-25mm sway bar. Do not have one on the back as I heard you could love them or leave them - user choice. Currently running with 6 x 14 rims but about to upgrade the tyres in preperation for the Tweed event in 3 weeks. Siddons handles like a dream by the way it goes through corners. also helps to know how to drive as well! Biker

Has anyone here had experience with the Falken slick used for track running? Just after opinions as I am thinking about getting a set. Thanks Biker
  13. 260DET It does and quite a bit of smoke coming off the front right locked tyre under brakes. Have to look at getting a larger stabiliser to see if that will fix it. Biker
  14. Yeah - Leyburn was back and it was bigger and better than ever. A real buzz - as 260Det says, just drop the clutch and go. Just watch out for the haybales, witches hats, tyre walls and the odd couple of trees but a lot of fun. Rain on Sunday made it interesting My mighty green machine picked up a 2nd in class 2-3 litre sports pre 1973. Whole class was a gaggle of Zed's. Biker

GoKarts are a lot of fun but have to agree that it is also a lot of hard work. After a run on the track, I always came out with sore arms, sore butt and a sore pride as my young sons enjoyed lapping me and especially cutting me on a corner. Doesn't help me carrying th extra weight! Now I love running the Datto around the track, weight is not that critical. George, seems you are taking up with the karts, do you have any Zed parts for sale?

Hi WA Zed Got the pin out of the shaft which allowed me to take the whole thing apart but the counterweights don't want to seem to move off the shaft. Removed the screw under the Rotor but same story. However, I have greased it all up and now it revs to 5000 before failing. Might have to have another go. Maybe to much grease stopping it from advancing all the way.

Hi WA Zed/Carl Parker We are both in the same boat. Mine runs like it has its own internal rev limiter. Dies as soon as it gets to 4500rpm. Without pinching this thread, how do you get the counterweights actually off the shaft. I removed everything but they won't budge. I greased themas best as I could and put it back together but I still thinks that they are not running smoothly to do the job. I know my problem is the counterweights because I tried a borrowed dizzy and the car went great. I too only have one spring down there even though there is a mounting for two. (Z parts disc only shows one also for L26). To get the springs off I am assuming the cam has to be removed but it won't budge. Any suggestions??

I was using Champions but the car never seemed to burn right. I mainly use the car for track work so revs are always high. Moved over to NGK and quite happy with them No1 son races motorcycles and he does not use anything but the NGK plug. Swears by them:love: Biker

Just spent the weekend at the track but on getting there the car was running like a dog. As soon as it hit 4500, the thing would start to backfire and not rev any further. After changing plugs, points, condenser, fuel mixture, fuel filter and exchanging a few choice words, someone kindly lent me a dizzy. Thing went like a rocket up to 6000. It appears that the counterweights in the Dizzy might be jammed and not allowing the mechanical advance to work properly. Check that. There is another thread here about Dizzy problems as well Biker
