Is this head gonna be ok???
Sorry those pics didn't turn out very well. Basically the chamber looks like it's pitted vs. all the others that still have the machine finish (under the carbon of course). The sidewall near the exhaust valve has some fairly good pits. I tried to get them in the two pics. It looks like either detonation, or possibly corrosion.

Which headgasket to buy?
Thanks Steve. I'm not looking for the "cheap" way out, but wondering if people that have done this job have had issues with other than the Nissan gasket(Fel Pro, etc). I just want to do it right the first time.

Which headgasket to buy?
Well, it looks like my headgasket is about toast and getting worse. I still have some diagnostics to do before pulling the head, but I'm wondering what brand gasket people here have had good luck or bad luck with? I've seen them @ MSA for $22.50 and at Courtesy Nissan for $150......any suggestions? My motor is a stock original L24 with 81k miles if it matters.

I second what everyone else says regarding fuel. I was having some similar issues recently and went back through the mix/balance procedure and now it runs great. Do you have a copy of the Z Therapy video? Not to go off topic, but who did your paint? It's gorgeous!!!

a little less screwed, hopefully..
Sounds like the car is a great find and it'll all be worth it in the long run. When you talk to the people at CA. DMV, if you get the resolution you are looking for, great. If not, that person always has a supervisor available and ask to speak to them. "Most" of the time the supervisors are knowledgeable and can work around your issuses. My .02 cents....

16" tire question
O.K. guys, I think I'm narrowing down to the Yokohama S-Drive or possibly the BFG G force sport in a 205-55-16. I'll make sure and post up some pics before/after when I get them on.

16" tire question
Guys, thanks for the replies. I'm not sold on anything, just looking for some opinions on what others have used and what they like or don't. Andy, I love the Azenis I have on my Miata and would love to put them on the Z, but they don't come in a size that'll work for me.

16" tire question
Frank, are these tires noisy?

16" tire question
Thanks 5th. Anyone else car to share any thoughts, pros/cons, for their choice in 16" on their Z?

16" tire question
I'm buying a new set of 16x7 rewinds and trying to decide on a tire. Per Arne's recommendations in searches I've done, I think I'll go with a 205-55-16. I'd like some input from you guys on a high performance summer tire. First off, my car isn't a daily so wear mileage isn't a particular concern. Neither is wet/snow traction, unless I get caught in a storm on the way to Tahoe or something but I can deal with that:). I may auto x on occasion, but the car will mostly be for around town and rippin' up the local foothill twistys. I'm kinda leaning towards the Dunlop Star Spec Sport, but reviews I've read say they are noisy....can anyone provide insight on these? Any other recommendations? I'm open for suggestions.

71 Differential vent
Guys, my '71 has no vent tube on the rear differential. I'm sending my fresh redline all over after a freeway drive. Probably a dumb question, but is the 71 supposed to have the standard type vent tube? If so, can you still buy a vent tube?

need lowering springs ideas
Just last week installed a set of Eibachs and Tokicos on my 240 and I like them. The car handles well and the ride is very good IMHO.
-
A few things
I'd say it lowered approx 3/4" in the rear and maybe 1/2" in the front. I've read in several threads that changing to the gas struts such as the Tokico's will keep the car a little higher even with a spring change. I'll put up some before/after pics in the next couple days.
-
A few things
The drive is excellent to say the least. I'm a happy camper with peace of mind that all systems are now new.
-
A few things
Well, a couple weeks ago got my exhaust done. The past few days I replaced ALL my coolant and heater hoses, tranny and rear end gear oils changed to appropriate Redline oils, cleaned and painted my radiator, replaced tie rod ends, ball joints, and installed my new Eibachs and Tokico blues. Time to really drive this thing....
