How to check timing
Doesn't he need to have the vacuum advance connected to check "vacuum advance"? Have I been doing it wrong all this time?

New look- flares and mirrors
Hey Steve, I have had these same mirrors on for the past 16 years and have had no issues. I love them. The mirror cases are painted the same color as the car which you can see in my avatar. Can't wait to see the finished product on the flares. Though it seems hard to see them, I will have to take another pic and post.

Stacey David 250 GTO Build
I watched the show and he did show the kits available and it looked like a 77 280 in the garage. Maybe there is a future show with the build?

Noise!
I remember chasing a rattle and it took a few days to find it. Ended up being the wood flap (can't remember proper name) that covers the spare tire. Somehow one of the felt strips had fallen off and it was rattling around on the metal bracket.

Fuel Line Pressure And Pump Check Valve Issues
I have the one that Wade pictured and it doesn't hold pressure for me. Unless it's a problem with my FPR and it escapes me on how to check that.

What to buy? 1972 240Z vs 1977 280Z
Ztherapy carbs are the way to go. Nice buy. I, living in CA, would have bought the 240 also. Smog laws are hard here and its getting harder and harder to pass my 77 280.

Hmm........a million bucks!?
So, my wife and I were at breakfast today at a place in Ventura CA. I had parked the 280 out front and I could see it from inside the restaurant. There was a group of guys sitting behind us and all of a sudden one of them said, Oh my there's one of those million dollar Japanese cars!" We started looking for the vehicle they were talking about. I didn't see anything that was worth a million bucks. Then another one of the guys said, you mean the Datsun sitting there. I hear this guy say, yes the one parked right there. I turned around and he was pointing at my 280! He went on to explain how one just sold for 1.2 million! (didn't catch where). And how "bitchin" those cars are! He keep talking about it and seemed to have a fair amount of knowledge regarding the Z cars but, a million bucks! After we left the restaurant I was thinking about it some more and I said to my wife, Damn I should have asked him if he wanted to buy it! Haha, I could have bought several Z cars after that. I couldn't place the accent but they were not american. Just had to share this with you.

Breaker plate no longer available?
Need a breaker plate for my 77 280 distributor and can't seem to locate one. I'm seeing it's possible they are discontinued. Anyone have any luck or know where I can find one? MSA, Zcarsource don't have them either. Thanks.

Compression Test questions
Jenny, my cover is held in place with a zip tie wrapped around the AFM. I did this just in case I had to adjust again. Strange though...it should have come from MSA sealed with silicone. What is your idle after warm up? If it is lower than 800 rpm just adjust it with the set screw. My 77 cold idle is 1100 because I adjusted the AAR. And my warm idle is set to 800. I have the pinging problem if I advance timing 2 degrees and don't use premium also. But premium where I am is only 91 and almost $5 a gal! So I usually run at 10 BTDC. Nice job on the valve adjustment.
