New shoes for the girlfriend
Nice looking Konig's!! I'm thinking about buying a set. Mind sharing how much you paid for the package and where you bought them?

Air filter (K&N really worth it?)
From what I've found is K&N filters will allow additional air into your engine. It can also be cleaned and re-used. However, since it modifies the air-to-fuel ratio, you'll need to adjust your mixture settings and give the car a tune up. Just putting a K&N on your engine without adjusting the carbs can affect your performance. It's not as big of a problem on newer engines because the computer controls the mixture. As far as re-use... I'm not too excited about making a huge mess when changing filters. I think it's much easier to pop out the old filter and install a new one in less than 10 minutes. One thing I considered was a cold air intake modification to my early 71. I installed triple Mikuni's and I have 3 filters. This can get rather expensive to change filters, so, the K&N option was a good idea. Soon I'm going to install a cold air box and put a single filter out through the front near the radiator. In conclusion: I think the K&N's are worth it. Just be sure to give yourself some time to adjust the carbs. The initial investment is higher, but, you'll save money by cleaning them yourself (of course you'd have to wash them 4-5 times before you'll recoop the cost). -- Mike

Z therapy carb swap
I think it would be a fun trip for you. When you come down send a PM to me, I'd be glad to meet you at the shop and perhaps go on a mini-cruise around the Oregon back country after you have the new carbs installed. Give yourself a few days in Salem just to make sure you have time to swap them out at the shop. Oh, and make sure to order them in advance. I know Steve has a backlog of carbs to build...

wish I would've taken more but forgot.

MSA's New Konig Imagine Wheels
I've been keeping my eyes on a few wheel ideas, but, MSA now has a newer version of the Konig Imagine wheel. It's 17x7 and, from their website, they have got some special versions just for the early 4-lug Z's. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/WWC19/25-1051 These wheels look pretty good. Does anyone else have them installed? I've only found a few threads about the wheel on our site. From what I can tell, the older version needed a spacer, but, the newest version has the spacer designed into the wheel form. MSA says these were built just for the early cars.

California Tornado
Oregon had some pretty hot weather last weekend ~96-100f. This week it's back down to 50-60's. Shorts last week, now I'm back in pants and a small jacket! It's interesting to see a tornado in CA. Those are some great photos. Must have been a neat experience taking them....

Speed Racer Movie

Speed Racer Movie
Saw it the day of release. Movie was pretty good, but, be prepared for a childhood fantasy. I'd say it's more like a "modern" childhood fantasy. I enjoyed that part because I was a child when the TV cartoon was in the US and it really took me back..... They mixed some of the old school racing from the TV series with a very cool 3D track and some nifty cars. The cars were much more futuristic. Most of the movie was spent on the track, but, there was an excellent (my favorite) cross country race in the middle of the movie. This is where the real fighting and smashing came around -- and where Speed was able to use his forward mounted saw blades!!! I liked the movie as a whole. It was just like the cartoon, but, IMHO it had a lot more jumping and faster tricks. Be prepared to see it a few times because, while the movie is a long one (over 2 hours), it goes by quickly. It can be hard to follow at times because the action is so quick. The choice of actors was spot-on. Speed's expression while he was behind the wheel was just perfect. Trixie was cute and had HUGE eyes.... I think they found a good way to bring a cartoon into a human form. Racer X was very cool and you could tell there was a lot of work done to keep the original theme of the cartoon. I believe the movie has been rated somewhere at 3 out of 5 stars. I won't even try to compare my rating with that, but, I liked it more than that. If you're prepared for a fun movie that will bring back your childhood, then definitely go see it..... You'll have a blast. Edit: The Mach 5 looks great..

Ne SU's not running
Paul, I moved this into the SU Central forums. If you're having troubles with the carbs after purchasing from ZTherapy, I suggest that you call their main number (on the website: http://www.ztherapy.com). They also frequently read this area of the forum and might be able to chime in with help. But, your best bet is to call.

Thanks for the compliments! I really wanted to know more specific things about the club that you like... I'm planning on putting together a welcome-page for new users to check out cool parts of our site. Something that says, "Hi, and welcome to the club... if you want to check out neat parts of the club, be sure to visit this page....." A welcome page for new users signed by all the members... 16 yesterday , learners permit today !
Wow, I seem to remember getting my license like it was only a few years ago. Not many of my friends died from being young and stupid... but, some of them did end up in the ditch a few times ! Anyway, it must be a great feeling to raise a child to the point of their own independence. In a way, I'm sure it's also disappointing as well because they are no longer that little child you were able to hold in one hand. I remember everything my dad taught me about driving to this day. Chris, use this time to bond with your son and have a great time!! Mike
