if I have my 510 media blasted...
The other advantage of having it blasted before welding, is it removes all the paint and crap which catches fire (invisible throught the welding mask) which you don't notice till you start to burn, or the smell gets you

Moral Dilema
Whilst not a technical emergency, it is a moral emergency. I have tried to buy this Z car twice, the first time the owner wanted me to think about its worth, then make him an offer. So tonight I rang and made an offer just short of his asking price. Then the Son of a Bit%h has the nerve to turn around and say he needs some time (not a problem, needs to think about it) then says I want to put your offer to the guy who was intersted, see if he will pay a bit more. Well, with steam coming out my ears, i said call me back when you've thought about it. Now according to most people I should ring the guy and tell him to shove the Z up his arse, and the phone up his left nostril, but I want this car. What is the correct way to deal with wankers like this guy. I need/want this Z, I have the money, and know its full history. Conversely I don't want to get into a bidding war with another young chap who is interested, and seems like a top bloke. Cheers Chris

Sydney to Wollongong Australia Day Cruise
George, if its any help, our australia day cruise sucked as well. Dads car died, so we crammed three of us across the front of the landrover and headed off, the average age of the cars was about 45 odd years, and the drivers at least 70 which meant they could do an average speed of about 25-30 miles an hour, there were only a couple of Z's there, and the rest was all "classics" (I'd love to know when a beetle became a classic) We spent about 5 hours and covered just under 70 miles, stopping frequently for cool downs, and tea breaks. However on the bright side, I scored a free landrover (yet to pick up) and got a lead on an abandoned 240Z. However it was still nothing on our original idea of a high speed blast through the local roads in an E type, but maybe next time I shall have the Z running (got leads on two possibilities so far) Cheers Chris PS Doesn't it suck when the pigs are being picky about defects, and not defecting the genuine heap of $^!# cars, but picking on show cars for too low, a decibel too loud, tint etc. They must just have been pissed off cos maccas didn't give them their free breakfast or something. Bad cop no donut

No door handles!?!?
I was of the impression that when you shave the handles, all evidence of them disappear, and you end up with a smooth finish, frenching I thought referred to "digging a deeper hole" in the body to flush mount the handle, more commonly done to rear lights etc

donor car for my 240z
IF it is indeed a 280Z, don't use it as a donor car, I only know of two in south australia, they're as rare as rocking horse Sh*t over here, as they were never actually imported. More likely its a 280ZX, which would be fuel injected, but it would require you use all the computer etc, many people install the motor, then use there original carbs. You may be better off trying to pick up a 260 2+2, I picked mine up for 420 dollars, and sold off the bits for about 600 odd dollars, got to keep all the bits i needed (gearbox and diff and suspension) and if you have a front end prang, the front panels can be used on the 240, unlike the zx. Happy Z ing Chris

Window Etching - Security
Move to Australia, for a nominal fee, the RAA etches all windows, and records the details of the etching in a database, however this only stops thieves with an intention of selling on the car, not just stealing an easy car, thrashing it then torching it.

ZZZ 240 plates in Perth
Over here you get your standard plates, the there are a variety of personalised plates, tossers in honda have things like F1 and Rocket etc. These plates are not assigned to a specific car as such,a nd the owner can sell them off (usually at a profit) when they get sick of them.

Skyline boxes in a 240z
2 rear bolts? The guy is probably referrign to the fact that he has fitted a later 260Z hatch, and it has 2 rear struts not just the one? This takes away the cool vents in the rear of the hatch, a distinguishing feature of the early cars? If this is the case, is it maybe a later body shell with early car used as a donor? Just check, then check, then check again, if I'd known more, I would have done a whole heap more checking

Speeding ticket? how fast?
I got screwed hard, 68km/h in a 60 zone, going down a hill with a 20 foot boat on the back of a toyota corona, and I was trying to slow down ... honestly I was, and to top it off, it was the day I got my drivers licence, first run out in a car without a licensed driver, and they pull that $^!# on me. Dad took the fall and the demerit points, when i suggested that if I lose my license, he becomes by taxi service.

1973 240K Coupe
Do you guys in queensland have a classic car rego system like SA? You need to be a member of a car club ($20 a year), and as long as its an original car, some minor alterations allowed (also depends on the intelligence of the club member inspecting the vehicle) you can register the car for 90 dollars a year, and it can be used for up to 90 days a year, recorded by you in a log book before you go out each time. There are no limitations about where you go, however in order to boost event numbers our club now requires 2 or 3 runs per year to keep you rego, these include trips to historic races at mallala, free entry, and parking right by the track, local shows, or just blasts through the countryside. (not really a chore at all, but great fun) Alfa, you may be able to keep both cars, failing that, give me the spare one

Hmm, the owner claims it comes with a 2.4 litre V6, does it really, or is the owner just a dumbass trying to scam some unsuspecting buyer?

Just what we needed
The riding just assumes that your average chrysler driver is a Di*#head, making it a very comfortable way for them to sit, with it hanging out in the breeze.
