  1. well it turned over fine, no problems there but it wouldn't start. I'm going to renovate the engine anyway, a friend of mine is a good mechanic with quite a bit of experience on classic engines but not body work. shame . i think the years in that barn have not been kind to any part of the car. As Alan said before, I have faith!

  3. haha, probably. God knows what cancer causing chemicals we used to use in the manufacture of day to day things!
  4. Lubu, the problem at the moment is that I'm just not sure what the hell i need exactly at the moment! . Some things that look beyond repair might not be and vice verser! But thank you for the info on that Z in your area!

  9. Does anyone know if the seat covers are identicle? IE, would it matter if the left cover went on the right seat?
  10. does anyone who has restored a wreck 240Z before live any where near me in Oxfordshire?
  11. I hadn't given Oz much thought actually. Is it a untapped resource? Do you have any good contacts there?
  12. sorry guys. don't know how to do links. I've got the front left wing/fender off now finally. That was a hell of a job. The part of the airtube on the outside of the mud/crap guard has holes in it but they're only on the top of it. The cavity in the airtube just in front of the door is full of rat bedding! There will be a couple of pictures to come. Tommorrow probably.
  13. has anyone heard of Distinctive Industries? Specifically, has anyone bought and fitted their 240Z seat covers? Cheers for your coments already! Matt
  14. Hi everybody, i'm currently restoring a total wreck of a 240Z and i'm slowing down and it's getting me down. So something I can do now is replace the seat covers and foam which have had rats living on them for over 20years! I looked on the other threads but could find a discussion specific to the quality of the companies now supplying these kind of reproductions. So advice is gladly accepted hahaha. Thanks for your time everyone and hopefully i won't be the only person to gain from the answers! Matt
  15. does anyone know anything about distinctive industries? I found them online and their seat covers look good, but so do the blackdragon auto ones which i have heard some bad things about. Any help would be appretiated. Cheers guys! Matt
  16. doors are off. all the fitting that hold the fuel lines to the chassis are siezed on so thats a lot of fun at the moment.
  17. i recently bought a 240Z that'd been sitting in a barn since 1982 and under the seats i found: 3 dead rats (one mummified ), a .50cal bullet, a shotgun cartridge, a set of spare keys for the car, a totally eaten yellow pages from the 80's and a pair of socks! Beat that! By the way, the smell was unreal as you can imagine.
  18. Mate! I really feel for you on this one. I spent nearly a week in a horrible position getting my dash out. Those cables are the worst part though. You have good advice above. matt
  19. anyone know where i can get a pair of air tubes?
  20. Anyone know where I might get replacement airtubes?
