  8. Ok so with a little brute force and the use of a language I tend to speak in occasionally when working on projects It's On! So I have found that OEM mounts are expensive but will fit (pilot hole wise) ... aftermarket will fit with modification. Thanks all that responded to this thread! Always appreciate your help!
  9. So I ended up sucking it up and buying OEM motor mounts from Nissan. Pilot holes fit like a champ but...... Steering column rod is difficult to align due to either aftermarket or OEM motor mount. Anybody else run into this issue?

DoubleYoohz, Another source of parts in the area...check Craigslist...there is a guy in Citrus Heights that parts out cars....he always has an add up. Also the Datsun club meets first Friday's at Round Table off Sunrise...might be able to network there and find some parts. Good luck to you.
  11. If I could still get OEM for a 71I would.
  12. Mine are the dea..ground off the pilot peg completely. Driver side is up against the steering column as well. Really not a great fit.
  13. After going to look closer at the alignment of the pilot pin it appears that I would file off most of it to have it line up. Question I have is why not just shear the whole pin off? Does it add any structural support for the engine mount? I suspect it just helps in the alignment of the actual motor mount bolts to the insulator. I am thinking with the pilot peg sheared off one would have to be careful when installing the engine but could get around not having the alignment pegs on the insulator. Any thoughts?
  14. Zed Head, thank you for the response. Most of the aftermarket motor mounts offered now are a "one-size-fits-all" (70-78 years) now which looks like is not true for the 70 -72 models without modification. OEM versions are nla.
  15. I think I might try filing the peg down. Thanks siteunseen.
  16. Wondering if anybody else has gone down this road. Purchased engine mount insulators (aftermarket) for a '71 240Z....noticed the pilot hole does not line up. Should I.. 1) Grind off the pilot hole "peg". 2) Drill a new pilot hole on the cross member (hate to do that...spent a lot of time/ money eliminating holes on the shell). 3) Search for a different Engine mount insulator.
  17. I have. I don't see how you fit a scissor jack on the end of the the outer control.arm and 1) have enough room to spread the ends of the arms and 2) have enough room to get the axle stub on with the scissor jack in the way?
  18. Yet another update. Brute force creates results...pounding the crap out of it and boom! One is on. Now for the next.
  19. So here's where I'm at. Trimed the bushing and then used the bfh method but it's really torn the inner sleeve bushing to the point that it's ripped. Beginning to wonder about this kit. Any thought?
  20. So what your saying is the upper (or inner bushings that connect the control arm to the frame) along with the strut itself control the vertical articulation. The outer (closer to the wheel) bushing actually controls more lateral motion..therefore as you suggest, I could either go back to a stock bushing or modify the urethane bushings with a thin washer?
  21. Food for thought Zed Head. Thank you for responding... Not sure what to do yet.
  22. That's a different bushing than what I have ...there is no difference in the flange on either side. Based on what you are telling me I suspect I have a couple of incorrect bushings for the inner side. Thanks Kcars.
  23. zKars Thanks for the quick reply. Kit was purchased summer 2015. Energy Suspension brand - Hyper-Flex Master kit.
