  1. Let's get together and drop the virtual for a little reality. Saturday, June 26th at Family Donuts and Deli - 9045 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Fair Oaks, CA. Corner of Fair Oaks Blvd. and San Juan Avenue. Let's fill the parking lot and meet each other... Your car doesn't need to be running. Just stop in and find the car guys. 9am to noonish! See you there.
  2. Come on guys! Who wants to go for a drive?
  3. I was talking to some friends and we decided we should get the cars some exercise. And if you're going to get the cars some exercise, why not have a ball! So the idea to have a Dog Days Drive was born... We will meet in Sonoma County and take a long drive through some beautiful Sonoma/Napa Valley winding roads and end up at a restoration shop in Sonoma where we will have a tri-tip sandwich and fixin's. The meal will cost you $12 each. The drive? Just some gas and your time. The shop is called Original Customs and it does restoration on classics. This guy is a wizard at rust repair and a pretty good engine builder. Come on out and enjoy a day in the Sonoma and Napa Valley area! Let me know if you're in. I have to give the catering dude a head count.
  4. I wonder if this is 'that' PLN??? Probably huh?
  5. This is really vintage and not Datsun but I think those of you who race will recognize this look... I call it the "oh $^!#" look!
  6. I mentioned to Glenn that you thought his car sounded a little tame. His response: I am running an old 2.2 E motor with a sport muffler, it is a trainer motor. That yellow 914 driver must be something because that car looks stock and he was running with the big boys. __________________ Glenn Stazak

It doesn't remove rust. You supplement with coarser medium stuff for that. Not sure how it would leave a texture undesirable for paint though... I just used a surface treatment and then a primer surfacer-sealer. Could you elaborate?
  8. More from 914 guy Glenn Stazak and the Midwest Council races. He is having fun with you guys...

Chris, I am in Fair Oaks which is right across the river from Rancho Cordova. I am guessing this ebay ad is a psuedonym for the Datsun/Nissan recycle yard in the Southern part of Rancho Cordova. The problem is, I would not know how well it matches. I think what you are looking at in this auction is basically the same seat kit that is sold by Motorsport Auto and Classic Datsun Motorsport. I would buy it directly from either of them as they would know the color match best. Particularly Classic Datsun Motorsport. They are an actual restoration shop.

Nice. I love soda blasting. Got my own home set up.
  11. Careful. Craiglist is a den of thieves in some cases.
  12. I considered my problem with him to be isolated but aggravating. As I stated, he cannot have stayed in business treating people the way he treated me. Might have been a bad time in his life...
  13. Years ago I had a problem with him on eBay. I pay within seconds after the auction ends and he didn't ship. He was arrogant about it and strung it out as long as he could then banned me from his auctions. What I got was a new part and I got it too cheap but treating me like crap and calling me names was not the way to handle it. I wrote him off at that time. When I see that he is still in business I had to think he must have cleaned up his act. I never mentioned my problems with him to anyone till now and never heard anyone else have a problem.
  14. Oh he will. That is a real no kidding vintage racer and he has been working like a dog to get it ready and actually go racing instead of just wishing he were racing. Check these out... Pretty sure these are from back in the day.

Was there a package insert with the rings? These often have ring gap settings.

Mine just graduated from nursing school... She can date when she is thirty but she can drive the Z anytime she wants.
  17. That's interesting. Both your car and my friends 914 have the number 89. Am I not seeing that right? I can't see your number in my friend's picture but I can see his and yours is in your avatar.
  18. Yep. Ozark. The fuel they put in those things tells me that they have to rolling a ton of miles.
  19. UPS might be hiring and they start at 70K a year. Otherwise, there is a fleet that is based on the other side of the railroad tracks from our base of operations that is hell-a busy. I will find out their name and post it here for you. I see their guys coming in for fuel one after another all evening. I think they deliver to Raley's and Belair?
  20. This picture is from last weekend at Blackhawk Farms in Northern Illinois. A guy from Chicago who owns this vintage racer went out for his maiden voyage in it. He titled this shot "First pics of the Datsuns that blew my doors off". Not sure who the Datsuns belong to. Phil is that you in one of them?

As I work as an education director for a major ambulance company, my pager would have been going crazy with instructions for mutual aid readiness. I had the day off but I would say this is a hoax without checking anything on the internet...

I can't see where you are indicating that your line is kinked but if you are refering to the metal 'trombone' fuel lines, I have a spare that you can have for the shipping.

Not sure Jon... He blamed torque and I had the grid to run when I wasn't running myself so I never looked. He probably would have been TTOD had it not been for that too. He got beaten by a 130hp 4 cylinder 914 with slicks. Weighs 1326# dry. He was very aggressive and a good driver.

You do realize that this is the paddock at Infineon Raceway? The eventmaster had to line the outside of the course with cones as a barrier so people doing the track day event didn't cross into the autoX course (insurance requirement). There are more cones being used to line the course boundary than there were to make the course. Besides, considering the sheer size of the course, that was not too many cones. The course was 350 yards long and 150 yards wide. Wide open course too. Only one spot that if you carried too much speed you could lock up and hit cones. I explained that poorly, sorry... He didn't eat his fan belt. He snapped off the water pump shaft with the torque and the fan belt and fan practically came through the front of the radiator.
