  1. Ok so wish me luck. Today, I'm removing the linkage standoff on the firewall for the carb linkage. I had intended to leave it in case someone 30 years from now wants to go back to carbs, but the ZX Master Vac is uncomfortably close to the standoff so I decided it has to go. I searched for days for my 8mm spot weld bit and then gave up. That's when I found it! So why wish me luck? You never know what you will find behind two pieces of metal that have cuddled up for 47 years!
  2. No such thing as cut and paste back then. In the 1960’s Lyndon Johnson accidentally called the Blackbird aircraft the “SR71” its actual designation was RS71. A team of stenographers had to retype every document so as not to embarrass the friendliest President NASA ever had. To this day of course, the plane is still called the SR71 Blackbird and NASA still has one they use for test flights. For this reason, I doubt these documents were simple cut/paste.
  3. Love the leading and trailing calipers. Externally valves shocks.
  4. Keep it stock. We are only caretakers. On another note, he must be a very patient man. If it had been mine, you’d have been on the back of a milk carton... sorry for your loss. Be careful with your gain.
  5. A few cars back, plotting a big pass!

The power of the mask... A nurse I work with disappeared over the holidays and shows up yesterday. I see her in the break room and ask if she was on vacation? She says no, she had COVID. I asked her if her boyfriend, who she lives with got it to. Nope, we both wore masks and he slept in the spare bedroom. The masks work. Even in the same house. Oh, and wash your hands a lot.
  7. Feeling a bit... empty?
  8. Not a Z but I thought you guys might like the sponsor!

    Merry Christmas guys!
  10. Well, fess up! Which relays did you choose! LOL!!!
  11. @SteveJ I might need more beer... I've been trying to find LED headlight bulbs for my H4 housings that have been on there for decades. My buddy who owns 914rubber.com sells a pair of LED bulbs for the H4 housings but they are $120 for the pair. That might be a very good deal but I started to question that when I was purchasing the Superbright LED set for my Z, they have H4 bulbs as cheap as $9.95 a pair! (which are installed and brilliant! Pun intended.) Do you have a recommendation? 😎
  12. Hey, sorry to disappear like that. I had work Friday and Saturday, my retirement work week. Plus, I have a vulnerable family member with Covid19 and I get 4-5 calls a day asking about symptoms and treatments. He is my son-in-laws father. Fingers crossed. So my son did a rework which I haven't seen. I suspect it was to properly position the holes. He says that he just put visual holes in the drawing for now. He doesn't want the holes put in until I decide I'm using the 350Z DBW for sure. I guess, I'm driving him nuts. I told him it's payback for having to go through his adolescence with him...
  13. No prototypes were injured by the drilling of holes. That will be done later when I’m sure what eTB I’m using. You sir, are not a pain.
  14. Not sure I can. Instead of having my friend Larry make it at the SpaceX machine shop, this prototype is being made at the UNR Technology Lab by my son. He is actually a UNLV student but because of Covid, he has access to the lab up here. We were actually going to make the first one out of wood or plastic but opted for aluminum CNC as it just might work! I will open source the drawings so others can do this as well. DBW is the shizit!
  15. So, this is being CNC'd today. Hope it works! Fingers crossed!
  16. thx! But do I need more beer?
  17. @SteveJ how does this wire in? Does it just replace the flasher? Do I need more beer? How many are needed?
  18. MC temporarily mounted up to make me feel like I accomplished something!
  19. So, I got the brake booster set today using the tool above. It was only out about 2mm but the spec is .005 so... I had to call Power Brake Exchange to find out how to get the shaft to adjust as it wouldn't move at all. Mike at PBE told me to grab the serrated wheel with a vise grip and turn the 7mm nut in or out depending on which was you need to adjust. Well, that worked! So next on the list too get this thing in the engine compartment is to clean up the front and rear spacers. The front one is vapor blasted and clear coated, the rear has some kind of tenacious sealer on it. They originally had a gasket but Mike at PBE said most cars are just mounted metal to metal. I will put some clear silicone on it to keep water out of the interior. Looks pretty good!
  20. This below is a cut and paste from the product description on Wilwood's site. With 50/50 output, I'd think front rear line switch wouldn't matter as long as the other systems to reduce the rear braking are maintained. I could be wrong. I put tubes in people's throats for a living so hopefully experts step up... Wilwood’s Remote Tandem master cylinders provide one of the safest ways to actuate four wheel or dual caliper axle brake systems. The cylinder features 50/50 output from a 1.00" bore with 1.10" stroke. This master cylinder can be bolted directly to Wilwood's single mount pedals. The kit is shipped complete with the master cylinder, pre-installed 4 ounce reservoirs and 3.38" x 5/16-24 pushrod.
  21. Whenever you do a project like we all do, you have a ton of people you owe thanks to. Especially a forum like this where you ask a question and get an answer you can use and count on. Not just an opinion. In my case, I have watched every one of the YouTube videos that were produced by Francisco Guiterrez three times! @Panchosgarage on YouTube. I found out about this tool from his videos. It is how you set the MC plunger depth so you don't have a long pedal. Gracias Francisco. I'd bet you're here on ClassicZ but I don't know which of us fools you are!
  22. That was quick. Both sold in less than 20 hours... Pending the funds of course but
  23. View Advert 79-81 280ZX Power Brake Booster Rebuilt This is a 79-81 280ZX Power Brake Booster that has been rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange. They powder coated it at an extra charge which created a bit more expense for me. But, it looks fantastic and is mechanically new. This can be used on the earlier cars and multiplies boost over the original PBB. This is a good mod to do if you have gone with a larger master cylinder or have increased your horsepower. When installing, it does require that you remove your clutch MC temporarily to fit it. I had two of these rebuilt and they came out equally beautiful. The price reflects what it cost me to have this done. I'm not making a thing so... The price is + shipping and I'm at 89436 near Lake Tahoe. 24. View Advert 1973 240Z Power Brake Booster Rebuilt This is the original PBB that was on my 240Z from new. I had it rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange and they also powder coated the shells at an extra charge. They tell me it's in great shape, as it should be because I've owned the car since 1980 and it has been garage kept that entire time. The price is plus shipping which shouldn't be too bad depending on where you are. Advertiser conedodger Date 12/13/2020 Price $200.00 Category Parts for Sale
