HELP: Need a new ashtray door for my 71
OH man, sorry, perhaps I explained poorly, not the ashtray itself, the plastic door that covers it.

HELP: Need a new ashtray door for my 71
Well I was driving around the other night, and low and behold, my ash tray door, just plain cracked in half. I should have never touched it. I do not and have never smoked, but I leave a spare fuse in there. NO idea why I wanted to 'look' at said fuse. But anyway, does anybody have a spare door that covers the ashtray? My cursory search has revealed that this may be a hard part to find....

Someone had a lot of time on their hands
Wait it has a 4 speed transmission and it has AC with an electric motor. I can see the transmission I guess, but AC. Well that is at least interesting.

I give you RACE CAR SUMMER part 1
Well I am so pleased with all the work I did last year on the Z I decided to have some fun with her. She has never run so well and feel so good as she does right now. As a celebration I decided to have some fun with my gal. I ordered some static racing roundies and plan to take it form there to make her into a 70's race car for a summer. Go to some shows and see some reactions. Here is where I am so far. Next up I want to get some new wheels and get them powercoated entirely matt grey (14x7 rewinds maybe because I cannot even find watanabe's) Then I will probably get the hood wrapped flat black as well just for kicks. Finally I want to get some vintage racing static decals. Which may prove hard. My goal is to be able to totally undue it in about an hour should I want to. Any ideas or leads to help me along. 2016 I am going to find my alter ego 70's race car driver guy.

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
Unfortunately, I have been sidetracked on this project. I was dumb yet again and started a big project when I am in the middle of a small one. Pulling the dash out of my roadster is going to take a while... But I think I can work in time to fit and paint this thing. I am having a desire for some newer colored wheels as well....Oh well, this is why we have these cars! I added some racing bling this weekend in the form of some static cling decals. I am going to call it the summer of the race car. I would really love some 14x7 wheels so I can run some fat sidewall tires and complete the vintage racing look. I think the BRE car ran 14x8 right. But good luck finding those. Still powder coating my panasports flat black or dark grey would be a good look. Or I guess I could pick up some rewinds, as that may be cheaper. Still having fun with her though. I will post pics of my new spoiler for a comparison.

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
Spoiler came in today from BRE . super fast shipping! Great service the finish will require a bit of rework due to some scratches and gouges in the surface but overall it I pretty darn nice!

Euro Front Spoiler
I wonder what 'legal' reasons the euro cars could not have integrated turn signals... Anybody know or care to guess?

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
Okay, this is the color combo I am going to try to replicate... With the wing matching the rear tails, I think it looks less 'afterthought-y' OH I have also ordered the euro bumpers. Now if only somebody would make affordable clear head light covers with the stainless trim. Didn't somebody start a thread on that a while ago.

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
Guy, curse you as you may be right. Not sure though. I am going to paint the BRE one to look just like the rear tail like finish surrounds first. If I do not like it, I will have to get it repainted the body color. Only problem with that is I will have to take it into get paint matched, $$$$$. I recall my front valance was right at 500 bucks. OUCH!

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
Great question Pmg, I did not buy mine the PO did, so it appears to fit okay. IF it had any work I cannot tell. I know the corners are all rough and not crisp like I would want. I think I am going to go with the BRE one in hopes the original mold is better. We will see.

That is brilliant. There is a chap here a NASA I work with that restores these things. People who restore tools used to create other things are very dear to my heart. What a wonderful undertaking. I did just add this to my garage. Sold my WRX and moved up to an 'adult' car

Rear spoiler for a 1971 240Z
I am trying to order a spoiler now from BRE. I will order some paint as well to match the rear tail light surround. This way I will have both, a body color and a darker grey. This is my last splurge until I start my saving for some kameari seats. It is either these or a leather redo of my OEM seats, which look lovely now, but I think really need some new foam!
