In case you didn't know, there was a statement from the family that said he died from complications resulting from long-term diabetes.
  7. You got all those machining grooves out by hand??
  8. I've been sanding the spokes on my wheels every summer since I got them, but the machining grooves are still there. I just paint it black inside the 'groove' in each spoke and some aluminum polish on the exposed areas, and that's it. Good luck.

Not usually, but we had an antique racer at the store that was valued at almost $18,000 back in 1983. I had the honour of building a set of wheels for it. My personal road bike cost more than I initially paid for my Z. OTOH, my fastest time-trial bike was made from an old Schwinn touring bike. It was a rainy day with nothing to do at the bike shop, and with all those go-fast parts laying around, so that thing was basically free. You might be interested to know that the best racing bikes usually got for about $150 per LB. If a 280Z was that expensive it would cost about $400,000. Compare that to the megabuck F1 cars. so I think you could spend the $375,000 difference on helmets? :knockedou
  10. OK, I finally found it; "bypass screw" in Section ET (Engine Tuneup) page ET-8. The spec for CO is 0.5% for CA cars, and 1% for Fed. cars. the timing and RPM specs vary for manual or automatic transmissions. You might be right, that having emmissiond TOO low, might mean that the engine isn't getting the right fuel mixture, and maybe even not performing as it could, so that is why I will get it checked when I can. thxZ
  11. My 280Z is already way below all the limits for everything, but if I can, I will get the AFM checked again, including the idle readings. thxZ
  12. Higuys, What kind of places have the equipment or knowledge to adjust these things properly? What kindf stuff should you be looking for- O2 or HC meter? My AFM hasn't been checked in a few years now. It's about time for a tuneup and get the AFM stuff checked too. thxZ

How about making it into a reading lamp? BTW- one year I bought 3 helmets. One during the winter. One for every time I had a spill. Another guy on my team bought 5 helmets that same summer.

Chino, IYou need to do some research into cycling before you make your conclusions. You apparently don't know enough about the equipment, and lifestyle, to comment about the costs of cycling racing, which IS very expensive.
  15. We got 4 inches of snow last Tuesday. It's no big deal for us.

The second paragraph gives the (specific) source of the information. thxZ
  17. It's a balmy 35 on the northcoast, and I still haveat least 2 months of stuff to do on the car. So as long as the kerosene holds out, I"m OK. But thanks to the old reliable Ohio weather, we'll get those two or three good showers by the end of April, if not by the end of March. I'll have the winter Z parts bills paid off by then. thxZ

In case you missed the last showing, Knight Rider will be on at 9pm ET on NBC.
  19. Can I assume those come in black with the correctly bent ends? thxZ
  20. What's wrong or different about the wires you can get from MSA or BD? MSA has a sale on them for $30: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEIC05/12-4176 Only the one wire has a bent end.
  21. Is there a proper source to get the correct spark plug wires for an L28 engine? The last set I got from the LAP were more of the universal type, and they were all the same length with all straight ends. I believe that the ends for #5 & 6 have a bend and a right-angle, resp. I also believe black is the proper colour? thxZ

What's your source- you? When you make such a statement, you really need to cite your source.

I did a quick check of what details the InternetMovie DataBase has, and it lists David Hasselhof as Michael Knight. There is a new guy taking over in the spot of Michael Knight. I wonder what kind of attractive geek-mechanics they will have, if any.

I went through all this with cycling helmets and gear in the 70s and 80s. At first, cycling helmets were just like leather pilots headgear. Every other year the helmets got more aero, protective and safer. We didn't mind getting better ones because it's your brain hitting on the concrete when you spill, so you gotta decide for yourself of you want to be safe or dead. We were spending money hand-over-fist like was mentioned already because every year, new lighter metals, better gearing, stronger components, tighter clothes, etc. would come out, and it was not cheap to keep up with the pros and get the weight & drag down. Lance- You're welcome to be on your side of the fence.
