Mikuni HSR
Wolf Creek Racing will supply you with a complete 44MM Triple Mikuni set up with rebuilt, race-prepped carbs, manifold and linkage for $1550. They have been racing Datsuns for 25 years and really know what they are doing. If I was going the Mikuni route, I would go with them. My 2 cents. Marty

Need timing help
I popped the retainer springs off. That was enough to allow the cam to move freely. Thanks!

Need timing help
Is the follower the surface that the cam lobe rides on? How exactly do the come off?

Need timing help
I had to pull the head on my L24 to change the blown head gasket. Two of the head bolts broke off. I didn't have the time or the tools to deal with that, so I took it over to a local engine builder. They did a nice job on it. Today, I want to put everything back together. I noticed that the cam has moved out of place from where it was when I took it in to get fixed. I can't seem to get the cam to rotate. That seems odd. I did not want to force it. So I have a couple of questions. What is the best way to rotate the cam? How much force does it take to rotate it? Also, does it spin in only one direction? TIA, Marty

Throw Out Bearing Collar Confirmation
Well there's a thought! I do need to get the front end and doors painted on the new car. It may not cost that much more to turn it yellow. Since I going to use the flywheel, clutch and collar that are in there now. I think I should be fine. Marty

Throw Out Bearing Collar Confirmation
I know I will regret it. Hell, I am having second thoughts already, !! I wanted to get more HP and performance. That would have meant coilovers, camber plates, an LSD, a hotter cam and triple Mikuni's. That would have got me about 230HP and a seriously quick car. But, I am sure after a couple of years I would have been looking for still more HP. It was cheaper in the long to just get a race that was already done. Besides, the yellow car is just too nice to start cutting into. Marty

Throw Out Bearing Collar Confirmation
Well, I let my track obsession get the best of me, !! I went out and bought a purpose built track car, so I need to let the yellow Z go. I want to keep the '83 L28 and 5 spd as spares for the track car, so I am putting the original drive train back in the car before I sell it. Guess I will have to resign from the Yellow Z Car Club now, !!! Marty

Throw Out Bearing Collar Confirmation
It's been awhile since I had to deal with this issue, so I thought I would throw out my plan and have you guys confirm my thinking. The car is an early '71. I currently have an '83 ZX motor and 5 spd in it. The flywheel is a 240mm from a 2+2 with a matching Nissan clutch. Auto adjust slave cylinder for the 5spd, with the ZX throwout bearing collar and fork. I am going to put the original L24 and 4 spd back in. I intend to put in the fly wheel, clutch, throwout bearing collar, fork and slave cyinder from the ZX set up. My understanding is that if you keep all of this the same, it will match up to either trans, correct? TIA, Marty

Drum brake info and fluid question
Hmmmn, I am surprised you let a snow plow out on your pretty new track! It's really sick how they tear up the streets around here. Marty

Drum brake info and fluid question
I have used Speed Bleeders for several years and like them a lot. Darrell, I put about a 10-12' hose right onto the bleeder on one end and attached to a Speed Bleeder collection bag on the other. I can hold onto the bag in the driver's seat while pumping the brakes and see exactly what is coming out. It works great! Marty Damn, track days already!! We have to wait till April around here.

How much money to build a Race Track?
Ask Darrell. The clubs near Denver just finshed building one last year I think. Marty

R-T diff mount Group Buy
Did you put any bushing grease on the bump stop before install? I was wondering if it would squeek without it? I will definitely be using this method. Marty

PLEASE HELP with weber fuel leak
Sorry I don't have a resolution to your problem. But if I were you, I would build a splash shield under those carbs to keep gas well away from the carbs. Leaky Webers burned up my first 240Z. Good luck. Marty

Mikuni's VS SU's??
Thanks! I would be interested in getting more details (P/N, cost, etc.) on the fuel regulator. I have a feeling my current setup is not going to cut it with Tripple Mikuni's.
-
Mikuni's VS SU's??
What are you using as a fuel pressure regulator? Do you have any close-ups of the fuel gauge on the firewall? The Aeroquip lines do look sweet! I have always wanted to put that on my car some day. But $400 for 3 lines, ouch!! I didn't know it cost that much.
-
Mikuni's VS SU's??
Ha ha, Greg, you are one tricky guy, !! Are your SU's stock or seriously tweaked? I realize that the class you run in may require you to use SU's. A friend of mine that runs in Vintage up here said he is the only one in his class still running SU's. Several people have implied that if I go with a hotter cam, that the SU's just won't let it breath enough. Anyway, I need to get more power out of this beast. I figured the triples was one of the faster, easier ways to do it. Marty
-
Mikuni's VS SU's??
Yep, they are bit pricey. Do you think that they are hard to tune? Hard to keep in tune? Marty
-
Mikuni's VS SU's??
Thanks Greg. Your cars sounds really sweet!! I am about 90% convinced to go with the Mikuni's at this point. I have not really heard anything bad about them. Marty

Its finally painted!!!!!
Congrats! That's a really nice color. A Blue interior would be really nice. I am kind of partial, because that is what mine is. Check out my gallery if you want to see what the combo looks like. Blue parts are almost impossible to find though. Marty

Questions/Comments on #1905 Parts
I have seen the ebay car in person, although briefly, and can attest that it is a pretty nice original example. I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb or hear it run. The interior is a bit faded, but still pretty nice. Marty

Yet Another Z In My Posession Now...This Is Getting Out Of Control!
I just sold a hitch for my car last year. I used it to pull a small utility trailer for my race tires. There was a cross bar that mounted behind the bumper using the bumper mount bolts. Unfortunatley I don't have a picture of that piece on this computer, but you can kind of seem hehind the bumper. It pulled like there was nothing behind me. Marty
