  1. I recently upgraded to AutoPal H4 Ecode headlights with Narva XB3 bulbs. Definately an improvemnt over stock for my 280z. The Narva XB3 bulbs are stock wattage and did not require any harness upgrade. Although i'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt and would probably help more. I would recommend you invest in Dave's harness, upgrade the alternator and then contact John@h4lights.com about headlight and bulb options.
  2. I think its definately an improvement!! Plus it probably looks better at night. I love the way mine look at night. So whats next for the Z? Its looking darn good.
  3. I'm in Spring TX. Amazing how we can both say we are from Houston, but we live over 50 miles from each other and the drive would be well over an hour with no traffic! haha. I haven't had much success with NAPA or CarQuest. Mostly because there are not many around me. I have had some success with Advance Auto Parts. They seem to be springing up everywhere around here.
  4. I've been daily driving my 280z for a year and a half. And its been great and very dependable. So far it has been very low maintance. The only parts I had to replace because of failure so far were a clutch slave cylinder, window regulator, and an alternator. Now don't get me wrong, I have had some issues with mine. (Valve lash popping off, fuel lines leaking, Clutch fan seized) But the Z community is freaking awesome. There are several helpful forums and very helpful members including this site the have helped me through them. The only thing I can say about getting parts, is sometimes you have to call around and check to see if they have it in stock and you may have to drive to get it, if you need it right away. Almost all stores can order and get it to you within a day or so.
  5. They are 12 oz cans. I also have an Oil Charge can. I hope I can get mine working soon. If you didn't already know, it gets a little hot here in TX!!
  6. Congrats on getting your A/C fixed. Can't wait to get mine re-charged. I've come across some R12 refrigerent and have a buddy who is an A/C technician that is going to take a look at my Z. Right now it blows a little cold if its not hot outside. How many bottles of R12 does it take to recharge?

Your Z is looking good. Wasn't sure if I was going to like the spook on your Z, but it came out looking great. Interesting that you went from a non ducted spoiler to a non ducted spook. Now get rid of those clear side markers!! haha

When I got my car it was missing a thermostat bolt. Don't know how long it was like that. But I put a new bolt on. Don't remember what size. I think it was just a 10mm bolt.
  9. I once had a little kid riding his bike stop by while I was washing my car and asked if it was "American Muscle!" Made me laugh.
  10. Wow. Nice looking Z. Wish mine looked that good when I bought it. It was pretty much the same price. Damn California cars!!
  11. Man! I feel for you! I hate when things like that happen to me! And they seem to happen way to often!! haha. What really pisses me off is I usually know better and still do stupid things!

Mine pops open too also, but if i'm standing on the passenger side when I close it, it will stay closed. Kinda weird. If I close it standing on the driver side it pops open every time. Must be something that you can adjust, but I just always close it from the passenger side for now.

Thanks Adamr. I also got mine at 18racing.com. They even through in some free lug nuts. For the money, they are a great wheel. I run 225x45 all around. They are a pretty tight fit, but they fit! No rubbing in the front at all. The rear rubs a little in big dips on the road. I beleive when I roll my fenders it will probably not rub anymore. Stiffer shocks and springs helped a lot with rubbing. Also removing the 280z bumper helped quite a bit!

I love my Rota RB-R. But I prefer the look of my 17x8.5 over the 16x7.

I have driven by that car meet quite a bit and thought it would be nice if some Z's were there.

I love watching Pass Times. Especially when they have real street driven cars. I don't like it when they have a bunch of dragsters though. I like Pinks and Pinks all out. Pinks had gotten a little old though. Pinks all out is also a cool show because its real people and their cars. Now Unique Whips has got to go!! Will annoys me so much. All they do is install stereos and wheels. Now Street Customs is awesome. But thats on TLC. They aren't afraid to chop stuff up and make killer customs.

Oh sorry I forgot to mention it. Its a 1975 280z. Its pretty much all stock with the exception of a home made cold air intake.

I live in Houston TX and it doesn't get to cold around here very often, but it seems that every time the a cool front comes along my car starts to hesitate on accelleration and run a little rough. It feels almost like a have a clogged fuel filter. As soon as it warms up again it runs perfectly. Any tips on what to check out?

Turns out it was just a regular externaly regulated alternator. Ordered one from Orielly and it didn't fit!! It was to narrow to fit the bracket. Luckily Pep Boys had one in stock and it fit and worked perfectly. I wish I could have upgraded to a more powerful alternator, but since this is my daily driver I just had to get it fixed ASAP.

I seem to be having a problem with my Alternator. Battery died and now not charging. Problem is I don't know what type of Alternator I have. My Z is a 75 280z with a 77-78 engine. So i'm not sure what alternator is in it. Also some wires seem to be cut and spliced together right next to it that make me think it might have an internal voltage regulator. I took a pic. Let me know what you think. Is there anyway to find out what type of alternator it is or should I just get a 75 280z alternator??

It took me a while to find one. Just make sure you get one for a 74-76 260-280z.
  24. Wow! Nice looking Z. If I ever see it I will be sure to buy it and never tell you!!

Wow! Thats pretty pricey to pay for something that doesn't look to good anyway! The 240z bumper covers most of the holes in the back. The only ones you can really see are the shock mount holes. And you only see those if you duck down and look at them. Here are a couple pictures for you to see. This is not my car but its pretty much what mine looks like right now. I don't really like the look of the fiberglass rear bumpers. Makes it look like an mid 90s car. Doesn't really fit. The shaved rear looks pretty good.
