Bump n' Squeak!
OK, my shop can't seem to yet find the problem here. There is a very distinct and loud squeaking that seems to be coming from the front left part of my suspension. It squeaks whenever I hit a bump or start to brake. I am assuming the squeaking happens whenever the weight of the car is forced upon the front of it, or when the tire is pushed up when going over a speedbump. The left side in particular makes that sound. I am planning on changing out all the old bushing for new urethane versions. Not sure if this will cure the problem. My garage has already tried greasing things down there but the squeaking still persists. I've been living with this for a couple years now!!!!!!!

WHat are you going to do to benefit from the "Cash for Clunkers" program
The Z31 qualifies. I checked. And to be honest I contemplated for a while weather I should turn in my 86 300ZX. I know to some of you that is blasphemous.....foolish, and plain stupid. Hell, I wouldn't even consider mentioning this on Z31.com. They would eat me alive! I would never ever turn in my 78 for any program. But, I weighed my options and wondered how I would benefit from a "clunked" 300ZX being turned into scrap. Honestly the notion saddened me. It seemed an undignified way to end her days. I started not to care if $4500 was more than her street value. So.....what caused me to even consider clunking a Z31? Simple; Financial. That and I've been having some serious issues with the 300 for a while.....until yesterday. A $48 part saved her from a decision that I may have regretted down the line. A part of me is ashamed to even share this with some of you....but I did think about it for a while. I think I was very frustarted with the Z31. Oh, and as far as any finacial gain........what a joke.....Especially after reading some of the posts here it got me to think even more. I am still the proud owner of two Zs. The Z31 will remain in my posession. All be it they are completely different from each other, but I love them both. I didn't want to be seen driving a Versa anyway.....Massive cool points would've been lost But more importantly I would've been another idiot destroying an important car....a car that I actually care about. Unless it's truly junk, keep your Z.

Datsun Alley
Ahh, great and thanks for checking this out for me. Much appreciated. Would you happen to know if any of the mechanics still work there before it was sold? I should be in the LBC by June. Can't wait! I hope the proximity of the ocean won't hurt my Z.

Datsun Alley
Really? That's strange. I looked it up yesterday and it seem to be in business. I'll call to confirm.

Datsun Alley
I will be moving to Long Beach pretty soon. The only Z shop I know of down there is Datsun Alley....Any feedback from fellow members would be appreciated. Also, if any of you know of other Z garages in that area, it would be helpful. Thanks guys, Andy

MSA West Coast Nationals 2009 Roll Call!
It was awesome as always. I didn't see nor recognize anyone from the board, but I've been gone for a while any way. It looked like there were more vendors this year. There were a few 370's entered and a GT-R on display....not sure who drove it in. I didn't stick around for the awards, but in a nutshell I'll say this; If you've been to the last couple years since it moved, then there ya go.......and that's not a bad thing One thing though.......I couldn't stand the guy with the beat up 280 that had a V8 dropped in it with no hood. The reving was driving me nuts as it's not allowed anyway. Stiil, a great time to spend a Sunday.

Should I buy 1988 300zxa n/a auto tranny
...Looks nice from the pics. Ask the seller if the timing belt and water pump have been serviced within the last 60K miles. That is VERY important with those cars. If not, it will cost you another 1k.......Been there when I bought my Z31. Yes, being an n/a automatic Z31 I would agree that they are not all that fast. However, they are comfortable and still a joy to drive. Good looking cars too.

Won't go into 5th...
....Thread may be closed but I'll add my story. The exact same thing happened to my 5 speed. Fifth wasn't there and I had no reverse. Hence I had the thing rebuilt. That should remedy it so you're on the right track. Good luck!

....So, who's showing up? I'll be there as usual in the 280Z section. Looking forward to meeting and seeing you guys again Z-ya! Andy

370z
yep, great looking car, and I agree an improvement over the 350 in many ways. It kicked the crap out of the RX-8, Soltice, and Bimmer in a recent issue of Car & Driver I believe. Hence the Z's heritage is still intact. Andy

going through fuses like crazy
Wow, never would've thought of that. I'll check and let you guys know. Thanks!

going through fuses like crazy
My apologies if this has already been covered. My 78 280's display lights and tail lamps went out the other night. So I changed the fuse and all was well. Then it happened again! I changed the fuse again and all seem OK again. Yet, a third time the lights have gone out. These old fuses that I keep replacing look really burnt out.....more than the usual warping and such. I suppose this means I've got a short somewhere in my system. Any suggestions?
