  1. A Zippo....forgot about those. Everyone carried one back then. You had to be able to open it in a cool way like cracking an egg or snapping it open between your fingers, one handed. dennis
  2. Looks like the garb is coming together. If fire resistant is what you're after, check out the surplus nomex at https://store.glennsarmysurplus.com/usaf-usgi-issue-nomex-flight-suits-cwu-27p-od--tan-p309.aspx By the way, the wrist watch is a nice period touch. But is it a Rolex? Needs to be a Rolex - a black dial Submariner or GMT. Dennis

Try this link for tips: There are one or two other threads on the topic "Door window squeegee", also. Dennis

Good luck with the installation! Definitely can't beat the price if you can make them fit. Maybe some members who have already installed them will chime in with some tips. Dennis

That lack of a bend was mentioned years ago when they first started selling the window squeegees. I went with the MSA units instead because of that. I think the consensus was to just bend to fit as you install. A forum search will probably locate the earlier thread. Dennis

My order arrived yesterday - a set of seals for my tail light lenses and a pair of new front turn signal lenses and seals. Including shipping, all for less than the cost of just one tail light lens seal from other sources. Packed nicely and shipped promptly. If Black Dragon wasn't going out of business, I'd highly recommend buying from them. Dennis

Good point, which begs the question, "Which one of your cars would you save if you had to evacuate ahead of a flood, hurricane, forest fire, or Zombie Apocolypse?". Dennis

I'm surprised by the number of cars listed as damaged by "fresh water flood". From a dealership? Owned by someone who didn't have the sense to come in out of the rain? If I knew the water was rising, I'd hop in my $500,000 Lambo and head for high ground. It would be interesting to know the story behind some of the cars. Dennis

That would be be a question that only the owner of Black Dragon can answer. Clearly the Datsun and Mazda lines weren't paying their way, so it was time to pull the plug. Why they weren't paying their way is anyone's guess. But for me, Black Dragon is not the first, or even second, source I think of when I need parts for my Z. MSA, my local Nissan parts department, and local chain parts stores are my go to choices. I have purchased from BD in the past and received good parts for a competitive price, so no complaints. However, BD is low on my list. I'm guessing others shop the same way. Dennis

The shipping notification for my order came quickly. I look forward to seeing the quality of the items. Close-out sales can move a lot of good as well as "scratch & dent" merchandise. Dennis

Did you happen to ask the paint shop why it doesn't have a little more shine/depth/reflection? As you mentioned, rubbing compound will help, but be careful about rubbing through on edges and hard lines. Nice color, however. Dennis

I ordered a selection of seals, lenses, and more and found that most of the items in my basket were on back order when I went to checkout. Before checking out, I called to confirm that backordered items would never be filled and was told that was the case. If it says backorder, they are out of stock and will never have any more. I deleted the backorder items from the basket and completed the order for the remaining in stock items. Not much left, but good prices. There must have been a rush of orders that will resell later on eBay. Dennis
  13. The five blade flex fan I had on my 240Z for many years made significantly more noise than the stock fan and clutch set up. Coincidently, I went with the flex fan when my stock fan/clutch launched through the radiator because it was a less costly alternative. I was in my cheap fix phase at the time. I currently have a plastic fan and clutch back on and prefer it. Dennis

I used a flex fan for decades after my original fan took out my radiator when the water pump broke. The style I used was more like the wide vane five blade unit in your pictures. It was a little loud, but threw a lot of air. I changed back to a stock plastic fan with clutch a few years ago when I upgraded my AC and added electric fans. Dennis

And with the right coupons from their ad flyer, you'll get 20% off the regular price and your choice of either a seven function multi-meter or a free Flux Capacitor. Dennis
  16. And don't forget to mention the gold chain necklace and ginormous glasses. We were all stylin' in the '70s. Eat your hearts out, Millennials! Dennis
  17. I think I may have posted this picture in another thread topic. but this seems like a good place to do it again. Northern Wisconsin, November 1971. I bought the Z after seeing one on display in Tokyo on my way home from living out of the country for about a year and a half. I still have the Z and the white leather sheepskin lined jacket from India. But, not the cashmere turtleneck sweater from Hong Kong or nearly as much hair. Gotta love 1971. Dennis

I bought my flares from MSA about 10 years ago and they fit fine. I totally understand degraded fit after making copies of copies over the years - kind of like a bad 12th generation Xerox. I've read several posts from owners had had dismal flare copies from various suppliers. I guess I was lucky. For me, the hard part of fitting the flares was setting them at the right, front to rear, height after looking at lots of pictures of flares on Zs. Too much fun, but I really like the look and always have since seeing a new Z on display in Tokyo in 1971. Dennis

I used the flares sold by Motorsports Auto. Quality and fit are good. As for "easy to install", that's subjective. You'll need to source mounting hardware, figure out correct placement on each fender, decide if you'll cut your wheel well openings or leave untouched, and drill holes in your fenders. I'm sure there will be opinions on other sources, too. Read up on install procedures in the archive. Dennis

Mike, did you post that picture on porpoise? I think our time would be better spent discussing all the fuss I hear about flea elections in China. Dennis

Busting school children, youth in Asia, too much violins, and to top it off, what’s all this fuss I’ve been hearing about the presidential erection? How much longer can this go on? Dennis

Nice job! Hopefully the title/cash transfer goes smoothly. That's always the scary part when I've sold to a private party. Dennis

Looks homemade to me. Not at all like what came in my 4/71 built Z. Dennis

And as if that's not bad enough, the Supreme Court is going to make a decision on youth in Asia! Can't they just leave people alone? Dennis
