  1. yea i know...lucky i noticed it right when the alt went bad so i guess ill see...
  2. well had it tested...turns out it was putting out 28volts ..I hope it didnt fry my optima ...as for msa they better honor the warranty..this thing is less than a month old..
  3. Ok here is the deal i recently upgraded the alternator...I bought the MSA upgrade kit and all was fine for a while maybe 2 weeks or so...when i went to check the oil and coolant o noticed my battery was wet...when i gave it a better glance i noticed it was acid....so i got the volt meter out and checked the batt it was right around 12.9 volts...then i started her up to see what it was charging like...i was like wow it is at 15-16 volts at idle... what do you guys think? is it the VR in the ALT? I mean this thing is brand new...
  4. Thanks Dave...your car looks awesome. How is the ride quality with the Eibach GR2 combo? would you recommend this set up over the Tokicos?
  5. Sorry to bring this post back from the dead but i got some questions...I am about to buy a suspension for my 240 and i want to know will the Eibach PR springs have the same stance on the 240z as the 260 in the above post? That is the stance i am going for... I am currantly debating on the Tokico suspension or the Eibach PR springs...what would you guys recommend...

I just figured out the problem...it was due to two power sources fighting over 12 volts which drop the currant just enough to not fire the ignition...I ended up having to rewire some stuff but it all worked out great.. I must say what a difference..car runs really well with minimal exhaust fumes out the tail pipe now..it also has a little more pep but not much...overall it was worth the money spent.

ok i figured out why it wasnt working...the black and white wire that was for the switched 12volts on was preventing the coil to fire.. i actually didnt even need it...anyways i am still having trouble getting the dizzy to trigger the ignition... I wired it according to figure 9...is it the correct one? or am i suppose to use the white wire for the points? http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/sum-850602.pdf i have the magnetic pickup wires wired straight to the dizzy and i get no trigger signal at all...any ideas?

Thanks Jon..I have the summit model ignition.. the magnetic pickup wires are purple and green...i noticed summit seems to be the same as the 6a in some ways...So do i just connect the red and green wire from the dis to the the purple and green wire from the box? Because i already tried that and it is not getting a trigger signal... I am also in a bit trouble with the wiring...who ever had the car before me ran all the wires to the positive on the coil.. such as a fuel pump wire and a black/white wire that is from the factory wiring harness...its seems to have something to do with the ignition key being on...but cut the green/white and other black/white wire and left them disconnected...the green and white wire is for the tach right? what is the other black and white white for...is it safe to leave the fuel pump hooked up at the coil?

Thanks for all the help guys...can one of you tell me what the red and green wires are in the distributor...i know its for the mag pick up but which one is -ground or +pos..can i even use these two wires for direct hookup without the e12-80?

  12. NismoZ posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
well the fumes is mostly from outside the car...if widows are up i don't have fume issues...i just want the most complete burn possible..i guess ill pick up the summit street strip ignition since its really cheap...as for the e12 80 dis it is magnetic pickup right?

no my car runs good..my main concern is cutting exhaust fumes down at idle...plus i would like to burn as much of the mixture as possible and maybe get a little better millage and response ...what is a good plug gap for the e12-80 with a blaster 2 with no resistor?

Big Thanks for the replys ... so i guess a upgrade would be worth it from what i gather correct? Would it also cut down on exhaust fumes at idle with the multiple spark? I have been looking at this ignition below.. has anybody had any experience with the Summit street strip cd ignitions? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-850602&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Hi all...I have a quick question...I am running a e12-80 dis and wanted to know if it would be worth while to switch to a msd 6a or something comparable to it..reason i ask is i would like hotter spark i already have wires and a blaster 2 coil installed just don't want to waste money on something that's not necessary...so is the e12-80 a powerful ignition?is there any specs on it?
  17. i know this is a old thread but i got the same problem...i tried everything mentioned here with no success...what cane be done?
  18. Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but i wanted to know some more up to date info...is this stuff worth getting? I just bought a used engine to drop in my z and was thinking of using this treatment...I was also told not to use it on a used engine because it could cause my engine to start leaking from gaskets...does this sound right to you? Anybody have any problems after using this treatment?
