Rain? Man, I won't take the Z out when it's FOGGY! steve

What is more important, SHOW or GO?
Seriously. Say for instance you buy somewhat of a beater Z which can be driven. Do you make it good-looking first? Or do you make it purr/roar first? Is the first thing on the agenda sharp-looking wheels? Or a new exhaust system? Do you get rid of the points disty or the torn seats? Do you buy a K&N intake or matching side mirrors? Do you re-build a 5-speed or start pulling dings? Do you install a 3-core or rear deck carpet? Suspension bushings get replaced or the peeling bumpers get replaced? steve

Seats
I don't know about 75 and 76, but 77 and 78 are quite different in the mounting brackets. There are raised lateral humps on the floor at the front bracket area and the front of the brackethooks over it. The seats attach MUCH easier than 240 seats, as they are like most modern seats, using a 14mmcap bolt through the top into a nut welded inside the body. The front bolts are parallel to the road. 240 seats are a PAIN! steve

7" rims, How wide tires?
I ran into several 14" Gotti's in my research...mostly Renault Alpine stuff. Is there a FAQ section here on "Re-sealing a 3-piece wheel"? steve

7" rims, How wide tires?
Wow, thanks...That's a lot of great info. I'm not too worried about wheyther the will fit under the fender...because I am flaring and maybe boxing. There are two reasons for my query: 1. A really great set of Gotti 14's just dropped into my lap. 2. I have reasoned (in my oft-wrong little mind) a drastically lowered Z could: a. stay closer to the ground b. with minimal fender re-configuration c. and fill the well better d. on cheaper tires on 14's rather than 15's. steve

I got them! The Gotti's that is... Guy got back to me and said he wanted $20 each for them. Don't say bargains don't exist! steve

I bought a Z today!
Finally got it home and cleaned up the paint. Changed the 'road tar' that was the oil and put a quart of Hyper-Lube in it. Cross referenced a few filters and found one about twice the size of stock (I can't believe the dinky little filters on these new motors!). Almost rand it dry of gas on the short trip home--it was reqally running crappy on the 1 YO gas. Limped into Chevron and put some fresh 91 and FI cleaner in it. WOO HOO! It loves me now! Seats are out at the upholsterers...started all the little broken stuff...wiper blades, rear view mirror, side view mirror, steering wheel wrapping, rear panels, carpet. But the most important: Washing the poor thing. Took off the door mouldings (Nissan used REALLY good tape) and took a little haze cutter to her. Haven't waxed or anything yet, but looking pretty good. steve

7" rims, How wide tires?

Gotti wheels?
Ok, so Ronal lists these as "Formerly Gotti 1001"...and they only come in 16 and 17. The wheels I am looking at are identical except they are recessed 4-lug with a larger hub cap. they are also 14's. There are two 14X6 and two 14X7. These would actually be pretty cool. I was thinking aobut having the center spokes (the gold is kinda flaking) done in charcoal and leave the rims silver. steve77/86/71

I HAVE to have these wheels...
OMG, these are SOOOOO unbelievably cool. I am still in shock at finding these on the Ronal page. Wouldn't these look great on a Z? Ronal Wheels steve77/86/71

Gotti wheels?
A friend of mine has a set of Gotti wheels he wants to sell. He says they are made in Italy. They LOOKED at least 2-piece, but it was dark...they may have been 3-peice (all the little bolts looked functional--not just rivets or something). They are five-spoke with the rim being silver and the spoke gold. I can't seem to find any website for Gotti Wheels. A bunch of outdated sale ads came up for some Ferrari's and Renault's (with Gotti's) when I searched. So....to my trusty and knowledgeable Z brotha's! Does anyone here know anything about these wheels? They look almost exactly like these: Thanks! steve77/86/71

Bought another Z today!
>>>> Don't you have one with an L-series engine and one with a V8?<<<< Oops, wrong guy, here. No V-8's for me (unless it was a Q41, 43, or 45 or maybe that new 5.6l Titan engine!!!) I am Nissan through and through. I have a car with a VG30e, a car with a L28e and a car with an L24, two L28e's and a L28t laying beside it. It's trying to make up its mind which one it wants... steve77/86/71

Now THIS looks goooood...
Enjoy it while it lasts, though...When my wife gets home tonight, at least one of those is going out in the cold... steve 77/86/71

Got truck?
Rear doors: Nissan claims to have an 'edge' on "almost 180 degree opening rear doors". Beds: Ditto, those four-door trucks with the 4' beds are a joke. And those flip-out bars that add a foot are an even bigger joke. Those of you who have shopped for a Frontier know it is the ONLY compact truck available with four doors AND A FULL (compact full-size) size bed (6'). Toyota still has the grocery bed on their 4-door. I don't read anything about a stick. 5-speed auto seems to ce the only option. I might consider one when they come in a stick. steve77/86/71

Got truck?
Did they say "5.6 litre V-8"???? steve77/86/71

Bought another Z today!
God, now I'm up to three! This is frightening. But this time I bought a 'real' one...a '71. Cost me $1. Has a bit of rust here and another bit there...didn't really look at it to hard today, just loaded it on the trailer and drove away. How hard can you look at a $1 car?!?!?! No motor, 4-speed, slotted mags, seats, but not much of an interior. Fun fun FUN!!! steve77/86/71
