  1. Thanks Fella's......
  2. I meant to ask earlier, MSA has "guard rubber" is that the same. If so I just found it.
  3. I need the small rubber rear bumper overrider strips, have looked everywhere and can't find it. I have the longer rear main bumper rubber but who has the smaller overrider pieces. Thanks for any help. PS, here's a picture just to clarify......
  4. Well, After all the troubles with the shop and mechanic, and breaking my ankle last Fall my passion for getting this car done is renewed. I had severe burnout 4-5 months ago (most of that from the previous shop the car was at, but thats a different and long story) and had to just walk away with a lot of frustration. This week however I was able to spend some time with the 240 and was able to see the finish line coming up. Hopefully she will be done before May and I can enjoy the car this Summer. I got quite a bit of the interior done this week and it's starting to look like a car again. The Blue looks amazing. I didn't have my usual camera but here's a few crappy shots of the inside. I'm going to wash her up tomorrow and get some better photo's to share. Still have the radio, map light, rear defroster and glove box but I'm waiting on some pieces before I can finish.

Did you get everything out? Ditto on what bobc posted, I had the glove box out and the center vent control panel. You can do it with just the glove box out but you get so much more room to work (and see) if the center is removed. I did not go back with a/c after I removed the POS aftermarket system someone put in, and that makes it very, very easy to re-install everything else. Good luck with your repair.
  6. I got mine from Les, they looked great.......

Hey guys, Thanks for the responses, sorry so late in getting back. Here's some pictures, it looks like the hole in the door takes a different cylinder, as the ones I got off EBay have 4 notches but the door looks like it accommodates only three, but I really can't tell. I guess I should just remove my other door panel and see what that lock looks like. I may try the dremel approach as that should be safer than filing the door and paint. What would you do? Thanks, Randy
  10. Thanks for looking, I did order some blocks via Mike's post but wouldn't mind having some spares. Would be happy to ship out the windshield rubber in trade if you still need it so just shoot me a PM with your address. Thanks again, Randy

Are the series 1 door locks the same as any 240Z or 280 up to 78? I got a pair off Ebay for a 240 (or at least thats how they were represented) but it doesn't fit right in my passenger door, its as though it has an extra hump on one side............Are they different or could it be when the car was painted it's just thick in the door lock area, I hate to try and force it and crack the paint. Thanks,
  12. I am in desperate need of the brake line holders as well (The rubber blocks). Also the small black piece that goes on top of a series 1 ash tray cover lid. Please let me know if you or anyone has any. Also, I have a unused front windshield rubber still in package (black dragon I think) if anyone needs, or would gladly trade for brake line holders or ash tray piece. Thanks all, Merry Christmas.

I've only heard the 914 called the "Poor man's Porsche", however I've heard numerous times the Ferrari 308 called the "Poor man's Ferrari". Since I've never heard the 240Z in that context this was a very interesting thread to read.
  14. I met Jared several months ago at our local Z car show and had a chance to go over this car for hours.....wow, it's amazing. (as for Jared, he is nicer than his car). He had offers from Knoxville over $70k and other offers including trades, so when you see this car you realize the $$$$ that have gone into it. I truly hope he gets that one buyer that just has to have it, I would love to have that stat out there on our 240's.
  15. I agree E, Take the time to lube and straighten and they will be like new. Mine was awful before the restoration and now they are smooth and respond wonderful. Good luck with your project.
  16. Enrique, Your a genius!!!!! It works perfectly. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you............ Also thanks in advance for taking a look at my plastic pieces, they should be arriving soon. Regards, Randy
  17. I have spent over two hours in the cold garage trying to get my tach working, I searched the board, downloaded diagrams, jumped wires, tried old coil and still nothing. I even bought another tach, but both tachs don't even budge, they are DEAD....so it's got to be a wiring issue....right? Here's the scoop, 1970 240z with pertronix and no resistor. (See photo 1 of current hookup) Tried different configurations and then pulled out my old coil with resistor and still both tachs don't register anything, like they are not getting any signal at all. Started looking at the wires and noticed a black/white wire that was cut and pushed up under the lip. (see photo 2). Does this wire figure into the tach? Started to check the wires and the green/black, black/white and solid black wire appear to register hot when checking from the connector block inside the dash. (see photo 3) I'm assuming the tach just simply plugs into the block (see photo 4, which goes right into photo 3) but plugging in produces no result. I've tried jumping different wires, doubled checked the wiring diagrams I downloaded but everything I try comes up with no result, not even a blip on the tach, the needle just sits at the bottom and never moves. Could someone with a working tach with pertronix and no resistor please tell me exactly how yours is hooked up, wire colors and where they go ect....or if you have a picture please post it. I'm going to be out here working the rest of the day so if you have any suggestions please post as I will be checking in every 30 mins or so. Many thanks, Randy PS..just looked at the wires again to be sure and it looks like there are two black/white wires coming from the same area of which one is cut (photo 2). So going into the coil are the....Red, Green/White, and the Black/White on the + side and the solid Black going to the - If that is correct, my tach still doesn't work. Is it the mystery wire, or is my wiring all screwed up.
  18. Hey John, Yes, the lens was perfect......Thank you again. Of course when I went to install eveythng I didn't realize the left cover was broken....arrrg. A fellow member is going to take a crack at fixing mine, so hopefully now I won't need one. If your ever in Knoxville I owe you a for the lens. Thanks again.
  19. After finally getting my tach out of the dash and replacing (but not installed yet) with a working replacement it still has no movement. Two years ago I started the restoration of my 1970 240Z, and several weeks ago noticed the tach wasn't working. The mechanic who had been working on the car is gone (along with all my manuals) but before he left installed the Pertronix EI. After looking at the wiring (which I have no idea if correct, but it looked like nothing was un-plugged) I just assumed the tach was broken and got a replacement. I simply plugged it in and tested but it doesn't register anything, no jumping, no movement, nothing. Now I'm thinking its got to be a wire or some other connection but really have no clue. With out any books or diagrams I can't be sure if its even wired correct. Here is a picture of the coil and tach, does anything seem a miss...........Is there a way to test the tach without damaging it on a battery or some other way. Thanks for any help for a wiring / mechanically challenged fella.
  20. Just a quick FYI on the tach removal......I never could get it out from the front (due to the full dash cap), however if you bend the mounting tabs in the rear it slids right out the back. I had the advantage of not having my center heater control in yet so it made it very easy to remove.
  21. The last piece I need to finish my interior is the black map light cover. I have the housing and the lens, but my black finish cover was broken in a few spots. If anyone has one is nice condition, (just the cover) I would love to buy it. Let me know your price with shipping to TN and I'll shoot over a Paypal ASAP. Many thanks, Randy PS....I did the see the two on Ebay, but refuse to pay $20.00 in shipping for something that small. Plus, they are selling the whole piece and I just need the cover.
  22. Hmmm, never thought of that. I'll give it a try and see if it works before I break the tach.
  23. Thanks Steve, I was afraid that might be the answer. I tried using several small screw drivers as wedges but that didn't even come close, looks like I might get to do some demolition later.
  24. How in the world can you remove the tach if your car has a full dashcap? I have tried everything I can think of and still cant get it out. Any tips would be appreaciated. PS......Just in case I missed something, is there a way to check the tach to see if it needs to come out in the first place. Could the pertronix system have caused it stopped working? Is there a wire to check? I know nothing about tach's. Thanks, Randy
  25. That was my exact thinking, maybe even wait until Spring.
