  1. The cut out in attached to the right side of the external voltage regulator. Here you can see an object that looks like the cut out attached to the back of the new alternator. Here is a clear picture of the cut out with the external voltage regulator removed.
  2. I have a 73 240z with no electric fuel pump. I just installed the ZXP plug and a 280zx 60amp alternator. The new alternator appears to have a cut out on the back of it. Do I need to unplug the one that was bolted to the external voltage regulator? Thanks
  3. Here is the same product at Autozone and it says coolant bypass cap. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Help-2-pcs-each-3-8-1-2-5-8-and-3-4-in-i-d-cooling-bypass-cap-assortment/_/N-26ma?itemIdentifier=426020_0_0_
  4. The temp sensor for the fans is threaded, but I am not sure of the thread size or where I could purchase the adaptor. Zed Head, you are probably correct. The fans seam to turn on when they are supposed to, but the sensor is not in the most optimal place. Is there a better place for it?
  5. These are the bypass caps that I have been buying. They didn't work for me. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/DOR3/02253.oap?pt=N0262 Thanks for the help! I think I will try getting a bolt with a shoulder and cutting off the threaded portion to cap off the hose for now.
  6. It is one of the metal pipes. The only time it would leak was when it was hot and I didn't want to stick my hand back there to find the leak.
  7. I have a 73z with round top carbs. The coolant lines somewhere behind the intake sprung a leak about 6 months. So I bypassed the lines. The problem is that I bought coolant caps from my local autoparts store and they keep bursting. I have had 3 break now. So I thought that I would just get a piece of hose and stick a bolt in the end and clamp it. This also didn't work. It just leaked no matter how tight I got it. By now most of you are thinking just take the whole pipe off. But the end of it has my temp sensor for the electric fans. So does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this from leaking. Thanks Nick
  8. Discount tire on ebay is selling them shipped for 475. But the sale ends tomorrow and they will be 528 shipped. Certain states have to pay tax.
  9. I have a 73 240Z with 5speed. I have purchased the MSA 3 row radiator and have realized that the fan will probably be to close when soft mounted. I am looking at two different ebay kits. This one has an adjustable thermostat. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DUAL-12-INCH-ELECTRIC-FAN-ADJUSTABLE-THERMOSTAT-49-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35b13f9778QQitemZ230607001464QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories This one has a preset thermostat to turn on at 180. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DUAL-12-INCH-ELECTRIC-FAN-THERMOSTAT-RELAY-KIT-38-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a625d755QQitemZ290550306645QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Does anyone have any experience with either of these kits or can point me to a better kit.
  10. There is a thread somewhere around here for a fix that goes into more detail but here is the basics. Take the inspection plate off. Take the breather off and tap the hole. Put a fitting in there that will thread in and hook a hose to the other side of the fitting. Run the hose up and zip tie it to something. On the end of the hose put a little filter that would normally go on a valve cover.
  11. Well I think I found out what it is. Its a thermo time switch. Which hooks up to a thermo relay that is under the coil and would retard the timing when the engine warmed up. In 73 it was only on late model automatic transmissions (I didn't know my car ever had an auto in it). I no longer have an automatic transmission and I have electronic ignition, so I don't need it. If this is wrong someone please correct me! Thanks Nick
  12. Can someone tell me what this is? I thought it was the water temp sender, but it doesn't look like the MSA replacement. It goes in the thermostat housing. I broke the wire off of it. I tried to solder it back on, but there wasn't enough wire on it to solder to. Thanks Nick
  13. Its just the difference in the appearance of the carpet. Look on MSA at the loop style. They have a good picture on there. You can see the rows of loops going horizontally. Its all personal preference.
  14. I custom ordered a set from MSA in December. I had them make the Loop Style with no logo. They look awesome. They look just like my originals except new. It took a couple of weeks since they were not something that they had in stock but it was worth the wait.
  15. I really prefer yuns to all of y'all, but both are accepted.
