  1. Hi guys, Just wanted to post and say g'day from Melbourne Australia and say what a great site you guys have here. Ive read some articles on the forums from time to time and have found it so informative so thanks. So Ive just purchased a 240K Kenmeri skyline about a month ago but also own a 73 240z. I learned to drive in 260 2+2 when i was younger and sold her many years ago so when the opportunity came up to get back into a zed a year ago i jumped at it BUT in a 240s this time. After a bit of refreshing - new cylinder head, new wheels, interior and some exterior add ons this is how she turned out. Took a while but with the new head and triples on the L28 it made all the difference. Ive just got to install some t3 front coil-overs on her to drop her about an inch to 1/2 inch in the front then she will pretty much be finished to my liking. On the Kenmeri I'll be doing a auto to manual conversion and a similar engine setup as the 240z L28 etc etc... Thanks for having us on the forums. Cheers Al
  2. Honestly i would like to show you some assembly progress here but unfortunately im still in need to get all the small bits and fasteners cleaned and zinc-plated before i can continue. Also I have a bunch of parts that need to be powedercoated so i decided to spend time with this task first: 1) On my way home from work i stopped by the garage because i had a good idea during work. I Finally found a solution to remove those rear subframe bolts from the chassis (the ones that bolt to the moustache bar): The wheel-torque wrench with a long shaft and a metal-tube extension finally got them out. Thesre are pretty special so no possibility to get those new. I had to get them out for zinc plating. They have a conical shape with both threads on the top- and lower end. 2) Before i went home i made sure to pack up all the parts i need at my home-workshop during the next days. because my garage is a few minutes away from home... 3) Decided i need some parts zinc-plated from the pedalbox as well and all the bigger bits need a sandblast and powdercoat so i started the dismantling. Before: And after: Still need to dismantle the steering column and safety-harness mounts and some other parts before sandblasting / Powdercoating and Zinc-plating all the bits. THEN finally i will hopefully be able to move fast forward with assembly of many small things...

  5. thanks for the compliment - the bike with 42 on the tail is a customized ducati that i built about 6 yrs ago. keeps me sane in between car stuff... that build was mostly bolt-up, and i was craving a little more challenge so i built this one (43) as a full custom. frame, bodywork, etc. and pulled all the electronics from a modern ducati 2-valve engine and returned it to carbs. as you can see, a trend is emerging... 43 build pic 43 finished

Well the carbs and stock exhaust manifold weigh in at say 30 lbs. Are these the same doors as before? An older door would be lighter without the crash-bar. I'd also look at all the suspension bits to see if something is not tight and snugged up to where it should be. Say like the spring is not sitting in the perches in the right place. Also if the car is not sitting on a completely level surface it will look off. No offense but what do you weigh? It might be level with you in it. After hours of trying to corner balance a 240 we realized that the floor was not flat. Off to get a laser level and several more hours of shimming the four corner balance stands to get things dead spot on. Car turns out to be perfectly balanced that is until you get in it. More time spend moving coil-overs up and down. Grumble, grumble....
