Location of kickdown Solenoid

Featured Replies

On the 1978 280Z, I would like to know where the kickdown solenoid is on the automatic trans. The Haynes book says you can unscrew it and replace if it doesn't work.

thx.

It's on the drivers side of the trans next to the vacuum diaphragm. It has two wires coming out of it.

there is also a switch on the linkage of the gas peddle , just look up from the floor under the dash . It also has two wires extending out from it. :D

Right.

the Haynes book says first connect the leads at the gas pedal to see if the switch works, then you should hear the kickdown solenoid clicking inside the trans.

My switch must be rusty, it only seems to kick down sometimes and you have to push the pedal down slow, like when you go around to get on the freeway.

thx.
