Wanted : L28ET

Featured Replies

My friend Charles has a post...... he can't post for himself for some technical reason (???) but here it is anyway.

Hello,

i have an l24 with an e31 head, mild cam, ported and polished, and a lightened and balanced flywheel. I am chasing an l28ET and if anyone wants something like mine.. high revs high compression then get in touch and we can sort something out! as i'm after an l28ET and obviously dont need the old one now!

Charles

Since your clutching at straws I may as well too.

WTB: F54 block L28E or L28ET or cheap car (260Z/28zx etc) with either fitted.

Seriously guys, get an N42/N42 combo & fit pistons with a larger dish.

It will be easier than finding a genuine L28ET in Australia.

Ahh but are the flow characteristics of the P90 and N42 the same? I believe they are but there is some debate about that.

:ermm:

Even a crappy head design will flow heaps when "under pressure".

But more to the point, the P90 has a better chamber design than the N42, so ideally, use the P90. But a de-compressed N42 combo will still be able to produce 300HP with a correctly sized turbo & proper controls.

Point taken but what do you think of an E88 or early E31 chamber design over an N42?

Have you read about Tod Kaneko's 240z? He's pushing almost 500 Horses apparently in his L28 E88 head turbo engine.

:)

So under pressure it will flow well huh? so that's y those awful ET pulsars don't do so bad with a bit of work LOL.

I have heard that L28ET in a 240Z is illegal in Aus any truth

in it. Just heard it once !! anyone know requirments to get

one through? ROFL ROFL

Etch in the engine block l24 over the l28 illegal but who's gonna know?

I think that's how they did it before.

Apparently it is legal to turbo the l24 for some dumb reason.

don't argue just accept it and deal with it I guess LOL.

I dont think anything is "illegal" as long as you get the car engineered to suit.

according to the RTA's guidelines you can have a 240z with a turbo engine up to 4160cc or a naturaly aspirated 240 up to 5012.8cc. Thatozzyguy knows all about it.

Damn, I wish that TSA had guidelines like that (defined).

If you plan on changing the engine in a car in SA, you need to apply in writing & then you are notified as to the yay/nay &/or engineering requirements.

Sammy if you do a search, I posted a few months back with the legal requirements that my car needs to satisfy in order to have an L28ET fitted to it.

The reason that it's 100% ok to modify a 240Z L24 with a turbo is that the car doesn't fall into the ADR27 regulation. Cars pre-ADR27 (in SA) can have unrestricted modifications to the engine, providing that they maintain the PCV system.

However, ADR-27 engines must maintain OEM cam, intake & emissions specs. ADR-27A engines must maintain OEM internals as well.
