July 25, 200321 yr Author comment_45184 What is everyones opinion on this right side frame rail? A) Easy fix for a competant shop? Tough job and expensive to fix? C) Death of a good Z? Affected area is 6" long. Other area is at bottom of drivers door. It looks like a good car otherwise (1970) and I'm leaning towards buying it. Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/7192-rust-repair-questions/#findComment-45184 Share on other sites
July 25, 200321 yr comment_45185 Easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing... if the rust is in an area that replacement panels are available, it shouldn't be a problem. It's the areas like under the battery tray that are the difficult ones since panels have to be made by hand. If the rail is weak, replacing the whole floor section and rail with the good ones from MSA or Zedd Findings and you'll never have to worry about them again. Looks like it might be a candidate for a patch panel, but you can't really determine that until you get it thoroughly cleaned and check the perimeter....
