Engine build on 280zx

Featured Replies

Looking to build my 1980 280zx engine. Engine is already pulled and has a N42 block and N47 head. I’m looking to bring the compression up and run a little hotter cam. I plan on it being out for a minute at taking time on it. What I has looking at doing to it.

• 40 dcoe triple webbers

• port and polish heads

• cam with heavier springs ( new lash pads, rocker arms ext.) Lift(In/Ex): .480/.480 Duration(In/Ex): 274/274

• header to 2.5 in exhaust

Not sure if going with 87mm flat to pistons to get compression to 9.9:1or milling the head .8mm would be better to get the compression up near 10.1 would be better

Any experience in doing this or info I’m missing is helpful. Thanks in advance

Take A look at “OER” carbs from Japan..

Just checked them out. Going to look into them some more. Thanks

Do some in depth research and you will find they are a hybrid between Mikuni and Webber. Datsun Spirit swears by them. I have a set of 47mm carbs ready to be tuned.
